Ewers or Bust- Lord have mercy I’m bout to bust

For those asking about enforcement: the state law requires players to submit all their NIL contracts to the university prior to signing. Then they make sure the deal follows the rules as boss man explained them. Compliance is very easy to work with on that front.

Right now the biggest hurdle you'll hit trying to pay a player is working with the player. They're understandably busy, cautious, and generally overwhelmed. The leverage lineup is a pathetic attempt by the university to pretend they're doing something to help.

The NIL law prohibits universities from directly providing NIL compensation, but that's not the issue here. It's self-inflicted wounds by compliance/AD interpretation of general Texas law prohibiting the use of state resources for private gain. It shouldn't be hard to find workarounds if there were any desire to do so.

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being a done deal how realistic is Ewers to Texas? Sorry, im not up to speed on how this latest speculation came about

Depends on who you ask. Some are gonna say 1, others gonna say he’s already enrolled

Not 10, and not 1.

too much chatter to be 1, not enough to be 10.

Texas does not want any sanctions, blemishes, vacated wins/seasons, etc. They want to run a clean program, but are fine being as close to the edge as possible. A lot of people think that it's black and white, but the "gray area" is just much smaller.

Joke is on the NCAA....we have very few wins for them to take.

Ohio State is a respected university, as much as posters here refuse to admit because their fan base is not respectable. It doesn’t hinder them.

Ohio state is the model we should be following. As far as academic side pairing with the athletic side.

Isn’t UGA also a good school?  They do Pretty good on the recruiting trail also.

Which school won the Director's Cup this year?  Which school is the only school other than Stanford to win it in the last 25 years or so?

Yes they are. We should look at what they do, as well as fOSU. In-state talent out the ass, good academics, right across from a state that produces talent (Texas/Louisiana- Georgia/Florida which is another good academic school).

The real question is, how can you make it clear to Ewers that you only wish to make him a deal if he plays for Texas, without saying that or making it an explicit part of any offer?

There's a way that I wont discuss here. Thats not the hard part.

This mess puts some of us fans in a tough spot. I'd much rather see the "bad" programs made to elevate their ethics (or at least, their actions) than to see a perennial competitive disadvantage for those who don't. So I applaud the concept behind our institutional approach even though it appears to be pushing us farther behind the curve on the playing field. Again, it's a tough spot to be in as a respected university.

All that said, I naturally want the school to be open to new ideas for how we can compete without going too far. It of course is up to each person's definition of where that "too far" line lies, so I won't pretend I have the answer. I just know some schools seem unconcerned about its very existence, and many of those are about to be on our schedule.

C'mon please fuck off with this bullshit.  You're part of the problem and the reason we won't win shit for another decade.

I honestly have no idea what the confusion is.

There's nothing preventing a Longhorn fan from creating an NIL deal with any college athlete at any school. Dr Pepper isn't worried that Fansville State is going to lose bowl eligibility if they pay DJ Ugaeileileileilei.

The real question is, how can you make it clear to Ewers that you only wish to make him a deal if he plays for Texas, without saying that or making it an explicit part of any offer?

Just spitballing, no real experience, but maybe offer him a deal that requires in-person appearances in Austin at times that would be impossible for a tOSU player?

Or just do whatever other schools do under the table for recruits.

It was pretty amusing when IT signed Card to an NIL deal then he loses the starting job.

But thats nothing compared to the folks who signed Ewers to over a million bucks and the kid is gonna bounce after one semester.

That was an autograph deal , right?  And id imagine what he was signing is tOSU stuff.

Fuuuck thats a bad deal for them. Id imagine the tOSU stuff would be next to worthless. Right?

Ewers deal is with a Texas company. It's not tied to Ohio State. The trucks on the other hand likely are.

The Kombucha company is based out of Dallas. His big autograph one is national, they were even in Texas last month for an autograph show. If anything, both of these NIL deals would WANT Quinn to come to Texas. Not just based on location but most importantly playing time and profile. Hell if this autograph company wants to see any ROI on that big dumb contract, they NEED Quinn to comes to Texas and start immediately. No one is paying shit for a fourth string QBs autograph. Certainly will lose his Colombus truck deal but will probably pick up a Surly Horns one so we can call that a wash. We will just give him @Wulaw Horns van

What about a "gently used" road trip RV?
