Mrs Whiggins

Recommended Posts

On August 18, 1920 Tennessee became the 36th state to ratify the 19th amendment securing the right to vote for women and ensuring its adoption. On August 26, it was proclaimed by the secretary of state to be a part of the Constitution.

Raise a glass to those NASTY women and for all who fight for our democracy.

Yes, but without the women's suffrage movement prohibition doesn't likely happen. Without prohibition organized crime never gets that organized. So the idea that women should vote has led to a world with more organized crime.

True enough.  What prohibition should have taught us is that sale of intoxicants is a demand-side problem that is not solved on the supply side and that attempts to do so will not curtail use of the intoxicants, but will give rise to a criminal element.

But we're fucking dumb.
