What are you people like in real life?

I saw a guy driving around town with an American Flag and Thin Blue Line Flag on his truck just randomly today in Frisco and thought "Wow, that guy is probably weird."

I had lunch with a guy two weeks ago for work that I'd never met before. We walk up to the restaurant door together and I pull out my mask out of my pocket and he starts in on being pissed off about having to put on a mask and stating he's going to refuse to do it and it's so stupid, yada yada.

I just thought to myself how weird it is that people will be polarizing to people they just met and risk completely alienating them or making them think they are less than. The risk must be worth it and if they find a kindred soul then the benefits must be great is the only think I can think of.

And I work for an organization which is extremely liberal/progressive in it's messaging and being "on-brand" (e.g. doing PR about BLM or changing the logo to rainbows in June, etc.) and I just kinda compartmentalize that and quietly just get along to get along.

I guess what I'm saying is it's weird to me when people are anything but safe/neutral in professional and work settings and with strangers.

No, but I do pity their lack of intellectual integrity.

I save my bird flipping for when I'm driving and encounter a car with Michigan plates.

I am dead in real life.

so your ballot's still up for bid?   Good luck to your heirs.

I'm a sarcastic, gripey asshole who works too much.  I leave people the fuck alone and expect the same, and that premise fails multiple times on a daily basis.  I'll share my thoughts or beliefs if someone else asks, but don't throw them out there on my own.  My shitty example is there to speak louder than my words.  Every day when I get home from work, and the garage door opens, I feel like I've won the lottery as my wonderful, beautiful wife who is dreadfully dependent; has yet to change the code.  I am a perfect dad, but imperfect husband.

It is my conviction that people place waaaaaaay fucking too much weight on the government's influence on our society, and I believe it's a major character  flaw to believe solutions emanate from the state.   It comes from us, but that requires effort and commitment; which most folks would prefer to leave those responsibilities for other people..  It's that other guy's fault.    No it isn't.   It's you.

I wanna talk about this "Real Life" concept. I guess OP means "off the internet." If so, you're just swapping one mask for others, maybe more of them.

The thing that fascinates me about Disneyworld, theater sets, malls, and any American suburb especially ones with gates and HOAs, is how gloriously fake it all is. You want real, you gotta walk out back, sit on the ground, and watch the bugs crawl around living their real lives.

Zepol87 already gave my answer.

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide,
No escape from reality.

Open your eyes,
Look up to the skies and see,
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy,
Because I'm easy come, easy go,
Little high, little low,
Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to me, to me.

I have always lived violently, drunk hugely, eaten too much or not at all, slept around the clock or missed two nights of sleeping, worked too hard and too long in glory, or slobbed for a time in utter laziness. I've lifted, pulled, chopped, climbed, made love with joy and taken my hangovers as a consequence, not as a punishment.

On the seventh hour
On the seventh day
On the seventh month
The seventh doctor say
"He was born for good luck
And that you see
I got seven hundred dollars
And don't you mess with me
But you know I'm here
Everybody knows I'm here
Well, you know I'm the hoochie-coochie man
Everybody knows I'm here

I dunno.  Do millions of fake conservatives live in sandboxes where they can constantly bury their heads anytime a Republican does something wrong, which is daily?  Do y'all rub your tiny penises all over your newest big gun purchase in the hopes that they'll grow bigger?  Do you wear red MAGA hats while denouncing gays and fapping to nude male pictures in private?  What are you phony strict Constitution, religious zealots like? I really want to know.

Some of us had to pay for own college so at worst, it's not so bad.  Go to a state school and colleges in Texas aren't so bad in relation to East Coast schools which are robbery.  But you put a roof over their heads, clothing on their backs, food in their bellies and if they survive to adulthood, you did your job as a parent.  Just be caring and supportive and help when you can.

Well, I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.

I'm the son of two immigrants- one from Ireland, the other from Lebanon.  I wouldn't have been born if the current administration had been in power back then.

I don't get political in person unless shit gets thrown in my face.  But I don't get political here really.  Just read and rage.

What am I like in real life? Increasingly pissed off and scared of how I'm going to keep my wife and son safe, and teach my boy how to grow up to be a good man in a world that seems to be devaluing community, empathy, and kindness more every single day.  And it's heart-achingly painful.

But I believe the answer you were looking for was something more a long the lines of, I'm big, loud, and equally aggressive and confrontational as I am on this fucking website.

I’m very easy going. Always have been, former college hippie. Have hands full now with 4 kids and Maga leaning, pothead wife. From what I can tell most of my friends and work acquaintances lean right. This place is an interesting view into the “other side” of things.

Do you curse at people with your opponent's campaign signs in their front yard?  Incessantly argue the most mundane points of a conversation?  Yell, "THIS IS THE END OF OUR REPUBLIC!" every time something bad happens?  Or are you mostly normal, and save it for this board?  I'm honestly curious.

I think 99% of the posters here are multimillionaires that get laid all the time by really hot chicks.  They also rub elbows with Tom Herman at the Mensa meetings.

I don't go out of my way to engage others regarding politics. If someone asks me something, I'll answer honestly, but I don't ask others. For those with different views is not worth having the conversation these days because nobody is going to change their mind and it's just not worth it. Here, I couldn't give a fuck what anything thinks about me or what I say... but I still try to be civil.

1234.  With regards to trump, I can't get over the fact that some are totally fine with the tearing down the prestige of the office of the president and ripping any level of respect we had on a global stage or even with your average citizen because "its funny" (I shit you not I've gotten that reasoning from at least 3 different people).

Aside from politics, I tend to believe I'm really easy going and can get along with people from all walks of life.

What am I like in real life?  I once had wealth, power, and the love of a beautiful woman. Now I only have two things: my friends and... uh... my thermos.  It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child. I remember the days, sittin' on the porch with my family, singin' and dancin' down in Mississippi.  Now I just post on surly.

I've met similar dingbats who assume that they will always be protected from any negative fallout that happens. Sociopaths are all the same. No ability to think ahead to the future. But when it's their own smug privilege that's up next to continue fueling the furnace of Trump's crazy train, they *might* realize they were wrong. But not a moment before.

When did you graduate?

Because you’re solution is woefully outdated.

I have a kid at Troy University. A perfect example of the kind of school you suggest.

Troy University costs just under $10,000 with all expenses PER SEMESTER.

$80,000 for a diploma from Troy. And that’s if you graduate in four years, which is virtually impossible unless you take a super full load very semester and go every summer.

It’s impossible for a student to work enough hours to pay for college while being a student.
