Look man, here's the deal

Number one, we should have done better than Joe BIden. He is still better than Trump by an unlimited number of miles, but we should have done better.

Number two, don't blame me, I voted for the socialist who would have smashed homer after homer on Trump tonight because he's quick-witted as fuck

Number two, I will still vote for Biden with bells on.

Number three., Fuck you. DTrump is the embarrassment here. the end

I’m not a speech therapist but have worked with many.  When someone has a stuttering issue and you keep cutting them off like that, it’s damn near impossible to get anything out.  I’m not here to say feel sorry for Joe, but I’m sure af here to say Trump should be shoved into traffic for that shit...

Yes. This. I had an uncle with a stutter, who died last year. He would be about the same age as Biden, and throughout childhood was mocked and thought to be stupid because of his stutter, something people had far less understanding of in the 50s. Watching the GOP mock Biden for this is enraging. And watching trump not let him get a sentence out, well, I’m out of synonyms for enraging.

I want to take him out.

Then I want to take out every Repub who supported and enabled him (so, pretty much all of them, because we discovered that the species of “republicans with a spine and integrity” are fucking unicorns). All of them. Every one. If it takes 30 years, so be it.

Leave nothing on their bench. Gut the party. If you want some sort of party on the right, cool...I want it to take a generation to get there. This little adventure needs to be punished, it needs to stand as the shining example of “how to kill a party” in the history books, so we never fucking repeat it.

Yeah. Sorry @Wulaw Horn but I'm definitely not advocating for a "return to normal". I'm definitely in favor of getting to a point where there's a respectable Republican party to offer a counterbalance to some of the progressive ideas that are too far left for my liking. But that would require the removal and shaming of every single person who has been complicit of and an enabler of Trump's destruction of the foundation of our country. And that means every single current Republican national office-holder, save a very, very few (Kasich, Romney, Amash, and a couple other guys I can't remember). I won't root for the Republicans to "come back" and provide said counterweight until every single one of the current enablers are dead or gone, and that means it's going to be a long time. Fuck them. What they've allowed to happen is unconscionable.

I honestly don't understand how any of them can go home and look their families in the eyes and sleep at night.

I'm ignorant on how this works, but if you get rid of the filibuster and pack the courts with, say, 13 justices, what's stopping Republicans from raising it to 25 justices the next time they're in power?  That's the only thing that makes me hesitant.

Once we pack the court, we put the filibuster back in place.

When Biden first solidified his lead, I commented on how he might be the perfect foil to Trump because he’s an empathetic figure. A large segment of the population left the 2016 debates energized because it viscerally felt good to see Hillary get put in her place. But nobody likes to watch a bully go after Grandpa, and I think that’s a big reason why everything just felt so shitty tonight.

There's something to that.  And maybe one day we need to evaluate our inherent misogyny.  But yeah--being an asshole to Joe Biden was very different from being an asshole to Hillary Clinton.

Sure. Didn’t think you were rooting for that. I’m just saying that I think the only way the GOP has any chance to get off the ground, inside of a generation, is if you go nuts and I’m right about this country being centrist and there is a backlash.
But even that might not be enough for them to have a chance nationally. It could be all over completely already. I don’t own a crystal ball that works- it’s just my prediction of the future.

Funny thing  is, I am a speech therapist, and what Biden has overcome as a stutterer is nothing short of heroic. It may present as bumbling or "dumb" but his strategies to see through dyslfluecies is amazing. This is what I know as an expert, 18 years in the field: He had good coaching. Look for the side cough, a strategy to get the vocal chords active. And watch for the drop off of a word he gets "stuck" on, then defers to a different word, which typically isnt as strong of a statement,  but a good deflection of the dysfluent episode. Those are big stuttering strategies (and tells). I felt like a film director watching Apocalypse Now and wishing I were as good.

Thank you for your work. I mean it.

Leave Romney for the purge after his bullshittery about the Supreme Court nomination.

Fuck him and his hair and his magic underwear.

I appreciate his impeachment vote.

But you know what, that motherfucker put a dog in a kennel on the roof of his car for a road trip. Dogs rule. You're right. Guillotine for Romney too.

Many people will criticize how the moderator, Chris Wallace, managed the debate, and surely he could have done better. But really, nothing short of a shock collar around Trump’s neck would have disciplined the man who is, after all, the president of the United States. A president who does not respect the tax laws, does not respect the FBI, is surely not going to be constrained by a debate moderator. It was pandemonium. But it was revealing pandemonium. Who and what Trump is could not have been more vividly displayed in all the psychological reality. Debate one was not Donald Trump versus Joe Biden, or red versus blue. It was zookeepers versus poop-throwing primates.

----

Trump might have imagined that he projected himself as strong. The whole world witnessed instead the destructive rage of a bully confronting impending defeat. Trump disgraced the presidency on that stage. He might just have delivered the self-incapacitating wound...

And the other thing coming out of this debate is that there aren't going to be any more debates.  The media pretty uniformly is laying the foundation for canceling the next two debates.

Yep and it shouldn’t just be the media. If trump wants to get coked up and spew bullshit he should just create the trump family on coke network.

The two non-political women in my living room tonight (my wife and sister) who have been politicized by the Trump shit show in recent years were left aghast by Trump’s behavior in the debate,. I think the low point was his attack on Biden’s boys - lots of audible gasps and “what an asshole” comments. I don’t think Trump won over any white suburban women tonight.

Wife came out from bedroom and saw I was rewatching the Texas vs TT game. She asked why I was not watching the debate? I said I knew Trump was going to turn it into a shit show and I would read through the highlights here later. After reading several pages all I get is that there were no highlights just a shit show.
