Flynn was coming into a top post that would require a great deal of foreign relations.  It would be unethical to not prepare for work by knowing the minds of men he would need to speak with.

Seriously?

Oh good.  Here's the part again where y'all claim that anybody who questions the long history of dysfunctional american foreign policy traitors and treasonous fuck sticks, to deflect from the fact that y'all have an incoherent world view that shifts based on the letter behind the name of the head of the adminsitration. Its been a while since we had this one. See @bolverk.  You really can't take this shit seriously.

No dipshit. Whether or not they are helping trump and your side,  you shouldn’t defend and downplay an enemy that has been attacking our democracy. Your party over country bullshit is lame

Flynn was a private citizen and not in the White House. Why would they have transcripts/summaries of that?

But seriously

Federal officials who have read the transcript of the call were surprised by Mr. Flynn’s comments, since he would have known that American eavesdroppers closely monitor such calls. They were even more surprised that Mr. Trump’s team publicly denied that the topics of conversation included sanctions.

Fuck Russia. They attacked our democracy and are still a threat. It’s sad that Annie, grhorn and trump unite and push the same narrative that Russia is not a threat to democracy and the US. A bunch of treasonous fuck sticks.

And the 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back. Obama

Or the FBI WFO wouldn't have thought it right to close the investigation

Sad, that you literally have no legitimate arguments left, deferring to JDS type gibberish.

Yeah, I’m sure it was as innocent as that. That Flynn, he’s just as pure as driven snow. JFC man.

You, and everyone else, would have more credibility if you didn't take anybody's word as gold.

I'm all for a healthy dose of skepticism, but it shouldn't be used as a matter of convenience.

Cute.  So since we're conversing about flynn are you of the belief that a) it would be against the law for incoming officials to speak about what they will do when they take office with foreign officials and/or b) flynn was part of the trump cabal that was coordinating the Russian interference?

Yeah. Flynn took money from Russia and Turkey and hid it from the US government. That was not legal. Flynn interfered with Obama’s foreign policy by negotiating with Russia and lied to Pence and the FBI about it. That was not legal. Russia and Turkey would have been able to hold all of those illegal actions over Flynn’s head while he was head of the DNI. Flynn was a clear risk to US national security. He should have known better. Flynn isn’t a victim. He’s another example of those around trump with malfeasance tempered by incompetence.

No one has argued that he is.  In fact explicitly the opposite.  He turned into a grifter, extracting money playing angles on the american foreign policy atm.

But that has very little to do with this conversation.  Flynn had to be neutralized from the situation cause the folks on the "7th floor" didn't want to have to read him in on what they were doing with the Russia investigation.  Flynn gave them an easy out by lying about something he didn't have to lie about.

Pretty sure we’ve had a few occasion with RussiaGate etc where big gotcha leaks turned out to be not so accurate. Anyway.

If you have been paying attention, you can pretty much tell who the source is based on the byline. I don't really understand the unmasking hubbub, unless the point is that selective media leaks were used by various parties to massage the narrative and neutralize people who threatened the Russia Russia Russia resistance movement.

He apparently asked Kislyak not to escalate the situation by responding with sanctions against the United States.  Only in bizarro Russia Russia Russia resistance land is asking another country not to reciprocate sanctions against the United States, after the United States just placed sanctions on that country, treason.

He undercut the sanctions by making it clear they wouldn't be enforced come January 20.  Come on, man.

I've never seen the transcript.  Nor have you.  Hint: the below is an outlet for FBI leaks.

The White House had examined a transcript of a wiretapped conversation that Mr. Flynn had with Mr. Kislyak in December, according to administration officials. Mr. Flynn originally told Mr. Pence and others that the call was limited to small talk and holiday pleasantries.

But the conversation, according to officials who saw the transcript of the wiretap, also included a discussion about sanctions imposed on Russia after intelligence agencies determined that President Vladimir V. Putin’s government tried to interfere with the 2016 election on Mr. Trump’s behalf. Still, current and former administration officials familiar with the call said the transcript was ambiguous enough that Mr. Trump could have justified either firing or retaining Mr. Flynn.

Logan Act is probably unconstitutional. Nobody has ever been convicted of a Logan Act violation.  Like nobody ever. None of you guys cry about the Logan Act when Kerry was engaging Iran.  None of you cry about the Logan Act when Obama is having private meetings with Merkel. Save the fucking whining about team sports, cause its just rank projection.

Ah, "The White House".  Yes, we have good reason to believe whatever "The White House" says is the unvarished truth.

Man, for someone who is permanently primed to go nuclear at the slightest perceived incursion on personal liberty, you sure do have a curious need to defend the Trump administration.  Cue incoming verbal spew.

Those authors are typically an outlet for FBI sources. I don't think that you should read that section and link the WH review described in the first paragraph to the "current and former administration officials" referenced in the second.

Is this type of "banter" why conservative people on DT hate the CR?

Just trying to understand the sentiment.

Russia was overblown. Period. It was a good sandbox to test out the craven nature of some politicos. But still overblown.

Now the Covid-19 response is a different ball of wax. There is a Malthusian lust among some Trump supporters that could be described as evil. Perhaps it is time to move-on to the present day.

If you believe this, there's no sense in anyone trying to engage you in honest discourse.

Russia, our sworn enemy, successfully attacks the foundation of our democracy... voting...with, at minimum, the tacit support from one of the candidates and you're cool with that?

If not for Mitch and the GOP Senate, Trump would have been impeached.

The thing about foreign interference in US elections is that Russia’s participation in same, even if we believe the very worst of what was alleged in the impeachment proceedings, is pennies on the dollar compared to other states, none of which can really claim any sort of moral high ground on Russia (though they’ve plenty of apologists here that pretend otherwise).

The argument is that it’s ok for Russia to meddle in our democracy because of “other states” are spending more money doing it? What other states? What money are they spending? What instances of meddling has or is occurring by those other states?
