From all the recent news to break, it’s remarkable Cambridge Analytica behaved EXACTLY like a sophisticated Kremlin covert influence operation:  Bribery/blackmail tactics, nefarious data/info acquisition, fake news proliferation, plausible deniability with third party front accounts and organizations.  And they operated on a global scale subverting democracy for profit.

And did exactly what the Barack Hussein Obama, II campaign was hailed as being a technological visionary for doing in 2012. (But they pinky-swore to not do it again and nobody raised an eyebrow because, well, the results justified the behavior.)

The fact that you can't see the difference between the two is mind boggling, but par for the course with you, so not unexpected.

1. Obama launched an app called something like "Obama 2012" to support...well, Obama vs. Cambridge Analytics used data gathered from a generic "personality quiz"

2. Obama's use of the data collected from HIS app was legal....Cambridge Analytics acquired the data from a 3rd party, which breached Facebook's user agreement, and failed to delete it when asked by Facebook.  That is what's called an illegal use of the collected data.

BTW, good to see the wi-fi's back up.  Must have been that increase in military spending that did the trick.

At least this bit moved over to the new board - I was worried that some personal growth might take place.

Any comparison between 2012 and 2016 is suspect because there were fundamentally different processes.

yes, and after learning from taped comments from the chief of CA how committed they are to gaining kompromat that we have a house and senate that mostly fears taking one step off the path dictated for them?

Yes sir this is 100% correct. They were the EXACT same thing. Completely the same. Hacking third parties to illegally gain information to use against the American electoral system on the behest of a presidential candidate? What? That was all Hillary! She hired Steele and paid for the dossier! The dossier that is completely fake news because it doesn't exist.

Now the Dems are preparing for the next election hacking by taking 17 year old kids who will be old enough to vote and brainwashing them with their garbage/paying them with that plutonium money to March against our right to own assault weapons! It's all happening brother and it stinks.

They are even getting that little bald illegal Mexican lesbian to be the face of their corruption and attempts to overthrow the greatest part of the Constitution.

“I asked Olson about being recruited for Trump’s squad. He rolled his eyes, suggesting that this was never going to happen and that it was not just a matter of conflicts. (Though a conservative stalwart, Olson has in recent years enhanced his reputation by becoming a forceful advocate for gay marriage. Associating with Trump could well tarnish that shine.)

So this didn’t get too far? I queried. Olson shrugged in an I’m-not-getting-into-details way. “Who knows how these trial balloons happen?” he said, in a manner that definitely suggested he knows how they happen. He then joked, “Joe [diGenova] lasted longer. At least two days.”

So is Trump going to have trouble finding attorneys? Olson shrugged again. “Let me ask this a different way,” I said. “In the last few days has any lawyer come up to you and said, ‘I’m willing to work for Trump?'”

Without hesitation, Olson said, “No.” Not at all? “Not at all.”

Washington, I noted, is full of Republican lawyers who generally do not mind being in the middle of headline-generating scandals and earning a bit of notice. Olson laughed: “That’s right.” And not one of them had contacted him to say he or she was willing to sign up? “No,” he repeated.
