people are really pissed he went down instead of scoring the TD?

we've reached the point where folks are just searching for reasons to be pissed at the players..

no - not so much pissed at the player as much as the mindset instilled from the coaches.  The touchdown also ices the game.  Every offensive play should try to score unless it is a kneel down.  Offense should be thinking about scoring as many points as possible no matter what.

Yep your attitude of just win by 1 is why our beta team gets their asses kicked on the regular. You score there and tell them to gonfuck themselves

Bullshit.  The first down iced the game.

Agree.  We were up by 11, not 50.  You score the touchdown.  Example #453 of why Herman is not, and never will be, an elite coach.  Would Saban  have told his player to go down?

If naija had a better attitude we would be undefeated right now.

Some of y’all are going to pull a muscle with this stretch that that td meant a shit to anyone except you.

Going down means victory, no need for xp, no need for kick off, and no need to bring the D back out.

It was and is absolutely meaningless.

He did it because Aranda is his butt buddy.   Again, it was an 11-point game, not an overwhelming advantage against the Sisters of Charity.  You score the touchdown and set a tone for the team.

Todd Gurley did it in an NFL game when they were up by just 2 points.

Belichick has done it and has done the reverse (allowing a team to score so that he could get the ball back).

This is not one of those clear cut "pussy" or "dumb" decisions. It is for sure, not the emotionally satisfying move, but smarter football players and coaches than post here have done the same exact thing

If it’s a one-score game, about to be two, I can see falling down to insure the other team doesn’t get the ball back with a chance to score and go onside. But that would’ve made it a three-score game. Score the fucking TD.

No need to potentially see one of these guys made of glass get hurt on ST or D...

Would I like to see us run up the score on Baylor? Fuck yeah torch those hypocrites. Does that mean I think him not going for the TD was the wrong play? Fuck no. With our luck 2 more DBs would get hurt on Baylors passes at the end or depth gets fried by someone getting rolled up on the kickoff..

It's surprising how many people think he should have scored.  Not scoring was 100% the correct football play.  It guaranteed victory.  See Tech game.  If that RB sits down at the goal line after his long run, instead of scoring, they win.  See Penn State-Indiana today.  Running out the clock TO END THE GAME > adding points to the scoreboard and giving the opponent the ball back.  Cade Brewer knew this.  Did Mensa Tom is the real question.

This. People talk about setting the tone, attitude, and all the other gimmicky emotional bullshit. Beating Baylor by 18 vs by 11 doesn’t change jack fucking shit. We still are who we are. We’re not intimidating or impressing anyone by running it up on this Baylor team. Take care of business against the other teams on the schedule, and none of this bullshit matters.

As soon as he got the first the game was won. When you have the chance to guarantee you win the game via victory formation, you fucking do it. Him going down was really the first kneel down of the victory formation. Y'all are tripping. We should have won by twenty, but the point is to win..... when you have the ability to end the game you ALWAYS do that.
