We've had a yearly thread for Donald Fucking Trump during his presidency. We need one for the guy who is going to toss Trump out on his ass in 20 days, too.

Not at all. It's a great thing.

This right here.

Waking up and not having my first thought be "Well, what did that asshole fuck up this time?" will be so refreshing.

In all the noise of the past few days, I missed this:

That’s an interesting aspect of being in the secret service that never really occurred to me, the limitations of what you are allowed to do after leaving.  I wonder who keeps track of former agents?

Yeah if I were Biden I would want a whole new detail that wouldn’t murder me if Trump told them too.

Bringing former agents who worked with Biden during his 8 years as VP is good. Already familiarity and rapport.

But the overall politicization of the USSS is a huge problem.

Agreed. So too was exposing them to Covid for publicity stunts because PaPaw wanted to go for a ride.

If distributing a vaccine in an organized, efficient manner is job #1A for Joe, rooting out the Trump loyalists poisoning the government in what are supposed to be career, non political roles is #1B

We could literally kill two birds with one stone, by only giving the vaccine to those who aren't Trump loyalists.

HR1 - campaign finance reform and government ethics

Repackage the voting rights portion of HR1 into the John Lewis Voting Rights Act of 2021 - NO MORE GERRYMANDERING.  Because SCOTUS said it's nonjusticiable political question

$2k checks

Start prepping for Breyer's replacement - some 40-something year old liberal judge, please.  Want them on the court by the end of the summer.

So I guess this goes here.  A lot of Ds today saying there is no path forward with Rs until they admit culpability and enablement of the dotard the last 4 years.  I think this is the correct posture, but I don't see the Rs caving.  They know the Ds will cave first.  How do we deal with them going forward?  I don't see how you keep the filibuster in place.  We are right back to full on obstruction by half of congress.

Manchin is pissed enough he's open to adding DC and PR as states.  Lean on him harder - the Senate is broken, Republicans are traitors who will not take any accountability for their actions.  Fuck 'em and let's go - 2 new states, a bigger majority AND with at least 2 new Democratic Senators, he can vote however he wants without tanking Biden's agenda. Dude is 73 and may not want to run again in 2024.

I said as much to two of my pretty liberal friends and they both balked and were like, whoa, we need to try and work with Rs.

If the democrats use a thin majority to pursue vendettas and extreme partisan agendas, they will lose the next election.  They need to think big picture.

I don't agree with this.  I don't think they have a choice and it's actually their duty to push through legislation that makes sure the Rs aren't allowed to game the system anymore.

Biden has a calming nature when he speaks. He’s had some stumbles tonight, but that’s him. At least he sounds calm and thoughtful.

I keep trying to find what the nuts are talking about when they say he has dementia.  Aside from what's leftover from his stutter, I've never once seen him do anything that would make me think that.  I guarantee I've watched him talk more than any trump sympathizer has.

From Crooked Media:

Quote

Biden has unveiled a $1.9 trillion emergency relief plan with a focus on funding for vaccine production and distribution and direct relief to families. The idea is to give Republicans a chance to get in on a bipartisan deal (here’s your unity, assholes), before flexing Democrats’ Senate majority.

WHY?!?!?  FUCKING WHY?!?!?!  They would and have NEVER done the same.  This is why we lose.

Because the Democratic power establishment doesn't care about the people, it cares about DC. It cares about its friends and its parties and its connections and its norms. When Democrats talk about "uniting America" they mean "being friendlier with Republicans in DC", they don't mean uniting actual Americans. They don't mean addressing the needs of actual Americans.

Pod Save is the only political podcast I listen to regularly just to keep my finger on the pulse of mainstream Democratic thinking and it helps because it lets me know what the Democratic versions of Susan Collins are up to because once Super Tuesday happened it was clear that this was going to be the direction of Democratic power. The hope for people-first Democratic politics died on Super Tuesday, and this is what we have.

Democrats are already pre-negotiating against themselves before even seeking Republican votes.

Pelosi holding up a relief bill for 8 months to help Democratic election chances and then ending up with a worse one PLUS the "$2000 checks" becoming $1400 checks thing is a beautiful representation of just how incompetent and useless Democrats truly are.

Biden promised Georgians a $2k check in order to get their Senate votes. Now it's $1400 before even bringing it to a negotiating table. There, it will turn into $600.

I hate them so much. So very much.

Yeah, it's pretty apparent how much you hate them.  Has been apparent for a long time.    Btw, there was more she was fighting for than trying to make Ds look more attractive at the polling location.

Close your eyes and imagine the future. Do you see visions of a new stimulus package? Alas, an obstacle stands in the way of our dreams, and it takes the shape of one Mitch McConnell. The Senate majority leader has imposed several conditions on a new round of aid, which have in turn prevented both parties from reaching a workable agreement. The underlying source of disagreement is related to the Republican Party’s economic dogmas. A bail out for struggling households — and small businesses, and state governments — requires a lot of public spending, which they tend to oppose. At the same time, the party is seeking broad protection for big businesses.

It is so much more than 600/1400/2000.  But you keep beating that drum, ok?

Played this as I got up.  Gotta tell you that the lack of dotard twitter is liberating.

I think Joe has the right priorities and he is working on getting reasonable people to recognize that he wants to tackle the right priorities. COVID and the Economy are handcuffed to one another.

After that work on campaign finance, statehood for PR (not sold on DC) and rebuilding international partnerships that have been destroyed.  I think He will get a lot of goodwill just not being an annoying prick that you're fired guy was.

So if I want Democratic leadership to not be liars that means I oppose everything else or don't understand everything else? I don't follow your logic at all and I don't think you do, either.

The vast majority of voters don't pay attention to politics in such detail that they saw "$2000 check" and thought, "Oh yeah, that'll actually be $1400 because of...". Can you acknowledge that?
