I'm a "transphobic, genital fetishist" if I enjoy the company of a naturally-made, organic, gluten-free vagina?  I have to wear another moniker around my neck because I decided I love my wife and only want to be with her sexually?

I got lured (proudly) into the whole pro-LGBTQ+ movement because I truly believed that what happens between consenting adults, and any resulting pregnancies, is their private, beautiful, and protected business and they deserve no backlash from anyone.  But I wanna slay some pussy at home and I get the negative labels?  You can now refer to my dick as "they/them", thank you for very much.

You serious? It’s a form of verbal abuse. And you don’t get to tell the recipient of verbal abuse it’s not. You have no grid for understanding this so that does not mean you are right and that’s the end of it.

and support or don’t. You’re an anonymous guy on the web, believe it or not what you think here matters very little to me personally.

Verbal abuse is not "violence." Violence is violence. They are completely different things. They are FUNDAMENTALLY different things. The distinction between them is that they are different things. Conflating the two is not just a slippery slope - it's a cliff, and you jumped off of it.

I did not say physical. I can retract the word violence as long as it is recognized as verbal abuse.  To me it's semantics because violence is destructive and verbal abuse is destructive.  if it's not semantics for you fine, again, it's verbal abuse.  I won't be around a single person who talks to me like she talks about me. it's a zero tolerance policy and pretty much anyone I have on ignore here, that is the singular reason why.  it's verbal abuse, it causes mental anguish, mental pain, it hurts, it impacts mental health, it's psychologically damaging and she is VERY aware of that and for someone like her, so focused on protecting women, I have no choice but to believe she is being deliberate and intentional in her desire to harm.  so to hell with her.

You changed your quote. The distinction between violence and verbal abuse is not semantics. It is the bright line we draw in our society and for good reason. That does not mean verbal abuse is okay. It just means it is not violence. Hurting your feelings is not the same thing as breaking your orbital socket. It just isn't.

I don’t know a single trans women that thinks someone should be forced to be ok with having sex with trans women.  It is your loss if you aren’t though. I mean I’ve been told I’m the best fuck she’s ever had. Kidding aside we are usually very thoughtful lovers very much attuned to our bodies and those of our partners.

as I mentioned Julie is on the fringe and fighting with the worst activists. Just like BLM shouldn’t be trashed because one black person looted neither should the trans movement be trashed because a few are completely off their rocker.

99.99% of us just want to transition and blend into society without any fuss or attention. That’s why separate trans spaces are a problem. And believe me I avoid gendered situations as much as I can. I feel very uncomfortable in women only spaces even if inclusive. I’d much rather just go sailing or fishing alone and not have to deal with the background noise caused by DC this Julie gal, Dan Patrick, Pence and anyone else chirping about how I don’t belong.

I just read the article. Is the motive that he beat the person up (and killed them) out of anger of being “raped” by being tricked? It doesn’t really say other than to say was carfished.

Physical versus mental isn’t semantics, but destructive and harmful? They both are. I never said physical violence but verbal abuse is highly highly damaging and destructive.  If your telling me verbal isn’t physical, then I must say you make quite the nuanced and thoughtful points.

Just to clarify, the point is not about the horrific crime committed by the football player. The point is the attitude among the crazies in the article and Capt. Catfish are the same - one should have no objection to having sex with a trans woman, so it is perfectly acceptable to shame or trick someone. Basically excusing rape.

Oof, that's a whole can of worms.

What lies or lies by omission are acceptable to tell someone to get them to consent to sleep with you? Where do you draw the line, or is there one defined?

Not necessarily related to Trans individuals, guys lie all the time to get with chicks. Pretend to be people they aren't, lying about wealth, lying about their job, lying about whatever and anything to close the deal. Does any of that even approach qualifying as "rape"?  If you know someone would never sleep with you if they knew the truth about X, are you required to tell them that?

Certainly ethics would say yes, but we know people are rarely ethical when it works against them. However, calling it "rape" is a tough sell in my opinion.

Fuck every bit of that shit. If I go home with what I think is a biological woman, and a dick pops out I'm not sure how I'd react.
Most likely confused and trying to think where I went wrong, what did I miss.
If any trans person thinks that shouldn't matter then they are being selfish.

You went wrong by not employing the Crocodile Dundee technique.

This is where I will explain the popularity of trans porn and trans escorts - even charging premium rates - suggests several of you are lying about what you like. And that’s the real problem. Like what you like but just like Republican homo politicians who persecute gays in public there is a special place in hell for straight men who fuck trans women then claim “ewwww” when the topic comes up in conversation.

New interview with Wayne Brady still thinks a DC joke about him was “wack” … looks like he didn’t get the memo either.

Quote

As for the Mooney joke—“white people love Wayne Brady because he makes Bryant Gumbel look like Malcolm X”— …

… while Brady does agree it was “just a joke,” he made a point to note the power words can have in any context.

“They have power culturally,” he said. “You would tear down two people who are trailblazers in their own thing to get across the point that they’re not Black enough. You don’t own my Black card, Paul. Nobody owns my Black card.”

Difference is, DC apologized to him.

Quote

According to Wayne, Dave apologized about the joke, stating Mooney wrote it. “I didn’t think that shit was funny anyway,”

Actually I think the “guys make those jokes because they secretly love dick” argument is kinda lazy, but I wanted to summon Bill Burr anyway.

And won Masked Singer.

May I get an honest clarification? I genuinely cannot keep up with the changing terminology?

Trigger Warning:

Spoiler

If a trans person medically transitions does the label change? Is "transgender" what I guess once was called a "cross dresser" and full medical transition is what is / was called a "transsexual?" I'm honestly not trying to trigger anyone but genuinely do not keep up with the changing terms.

Wait are you now calling out a DC, Wayne Brady joke that hit the nail on the head and was true and funny as shit and comparing it to this? Lol. Pretty sure every black and white person in the audience laughed their ass off at that joke in the special, so to say it’s wasn’t funny?  To who other than Wayne Brady was that joke not funny?   You are reaching very hard now.  Wayne threw a pity party for himself cause he doesn’t understand comedy and DC felt sorry for him and reached out. (And he knew he could get him in a hilarious skit then, that tells the same joke you called unfunny in a different way)

it wasn't a DC joke...Paul Mooney made the joke.

Brady does come across as thin-skinned IMO. but DC has never pushed back on Brady's claim that 1) Dave apologized for Mooney's joke, and 2) that he told Brady 'that shit wasn't funny'...so it appears at least Wayne Brady and Dave Chappelle thought it wasn't funny.

No, no.  Dave set the record straight by letting Wayne Brady come on the show and show his true self … a PCP dealing murderer and pimp who abuses trafficked women.   The last thing Dave Chappelle would ever want is to make a joke about Wayne Brady not being about the thug life.

I mean I’ve heard of 4-D chess I think Mensa was well known for it but that’s straight up 6-D chess, DC is a fucking mastermind. He could be James Bond and the evil creepy guy all in one with those kinda skills.

dave didn’t set the record straight, he apologized for the joke and offered as a mea culpa the opportunity for Wayne to come on the show and be a part of the self deprecating humor skit. It was a grand apology, nothing he’s going to do for queer folk anytime soon. Wayne still says the joke wasn’t funny.

Well Wayne and maybe the one person in attendance, according to the crowd reaction and a very small percentage of people at home didn’t think it was very funny I guess…..   Still not sure why this is getting compared or argued as point for the topic? The same joke told a different way is not a grand apology….  It’s the just like if he had a trans person come on and play manly and beat someone’s ass now, everyone is still laughing at the the original joke.   I understood your original point a lot more before this bs but this doesn’t help the point at all.

You’re pretty dense or you like to argue for arguments sake, can’t tell which yet. He tells a joke about Wayne, everyone black thinks it’s funny but one black guy doesn’t - the guy he was aiming at - and he bends over backward to make it right. Tell me how many trans folk laughed at his trans jokes? And an apology from DC? Sheeeeit man? Comedy is sacrosanct you liberal snowflake?! Can’t you take a joke? Yeah about as well as Wayne Brady.

Yea you missed the point where Wayne Brady came on his show and made the exact same joke basically…. So yea I guess I’m dense in not seeing any correlation to the point you were making.  Therefore is it really bending over backwards??  So if he apologized to one trans person then had them on his show to make the same joke that would be ok?  You’re right maybe I’m just missing your point but that doesn’t seem like what you would want.

You missed the part where Dave apologizes and Dave invited him on his show to make the same joke and where Wayne still says the original joke isn’t funny. I think you’re dense. Because if you were in it for the sport you’d be better at argument. Dave tells trans jokes that trans folk nearly universally find foul, hell half the people on this thread said weren’t funny. He catches flack and won’t do shit. A funny joke about a black guy and he bends over backwards when that guy complains, he’s not apologizing for shit and certainly isn’t going to admit the closer wasn’t funny, he’s not asking trans folk to come on his show for a skit or routine now is he? Given the current dynamic of laws being passed to codify legal discrimination against people like me yeah no I probably pass on an invitation to do a skit or self deprecating routine but at least the offer would allow trans folk the chance to tell the joke ourselves. DC is a friend to Wayne he’s not a friend to queer people and the way he reacted to Wayne and the way he reacts to queer criticism shows it as clear as night and day.

Troph,

I don't think these are the same thing.   Wayne didn't like a joke that was at his expense, and in particular he didn't find the aspect about it, where people question one's blackness very funny.  It seems he took issue with this because it is an issue in his community.   Dave agreed and they created a new skit where Wayne looked like the baddest of the bad, and due to the talent of the men, it worked.   It replaced the image of Wayne being a goofy punchline, when Wayne doesn't agree to it.   It also tried to fix the black on black dismissal of one another based on acting white.    Which is/was a thing that I also observed while I was growing up.

I still don't understand what you find so offensive about this, or DC in general.  I am not trying to be dense, (I am naturally dense) but I am honestly trying to understand.

At first, I thought this as well.  I started to think about others like Alfonso Ribeiro who have been kind of mocked, but made a career out of being in that same space that he occupied slightly before Brady.   I think Brady was trying to get a different point across as well, which I addressed in my post to Troph above.   And to that end, I can see his point and why he and ultimately Chappelle thought it needed to be addressed.

A joke so unfunny, he told it twice.
