Jimbo 2020: Strangers with Candi

With 7 seniors, I don’t think the Ags can trap door enough people to sign enough recruits to get them into the top 10 for 2020

Lets says their 4 best played jump to NFL (Madubukkike, Peevy, Rogers, Hezeikal Jones)

Thats still 9 people they have to push out to make 20.

normal attrition is probably 4 to 7 players a team.  It just happens.  It wouldn't be too hard to get to 20 if they lose some early entrants to the NFL.

The point was it’s hard to crack the Top 10 in recruiting rankings with only 20 or under classes. It can be done but its more difficult

It's going to be hard for them to crack the top 10 because (1) CS can't compete with Austin, LA, etc, (2) it will no longer be a "honeymoon" class for Jimbo, (3) Texas is going to clean up on the in-state players open to playing at Texas, (4) OU and LSU are going to clean out most of the anywhere-but-Texas crowd from aggy's neighborhood, (5) Bama, Barn, and Ole Miss are going to outbid aggy for most of the guys who would have been flexible about others reasons for the right $ale$ Pitch, and (6) aggy.

Brian Perroni: Texas A&M offers seven players at one school

Texas A&M has a couple players from the Washington, D.C. area on its roster and the Aggies have hit up the region pretty heavily this week. That was especially the case on Thursday as defensive tackles coach Elijah Robinson stopped by powerhouse Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha to check in on a number of prospects. By the time he left, seven members of the Stags team held offers from Texas A&M.

The biggest name to pick one up was class of 2020 five-star running back MarShawn Lloyd. The 5-foot-10, 210-pound junior is ranked as the No. 24 overall player in the class. With Lloyd already being a junior, it is probably a bit too late in his recruitment to truly become a major player, but he is too good to not have offered while there. The Aggies are also in good shape with a few other running back prospects.

Four members of the class of 2021 at the school were also offered. Offensive tackle Landon Tengwall is ranked as the No. 39 sophomore in the country in the very early rankings. The 6-foot-6, 300-pounder has four Crystal Ball predictions, all in favor of Penn State. Defensive end Colin Mobley is another top sophomore at the school that was offered by the Aggies on Thursday. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound defender has nine early offers. He is sure to become a national recruit before all is said and done.

Inside linebackers are almost worth their weight in gold in recruiting, so it is not a surprise that Greg Penn III was offered by the Aggies as well. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound sophomore was a MaxPreps Freshman All-American a year ago and has very impressive film. He also holds 17 offers at this point. After transferring to DeMatha from St. Vincent Pallotti before this past season, defensive end Coziah Izzard has seen his stock soar even more. The 6-foot-3, 266-pound junior is ranked as the No. 145 prospect in the country for his class. Maryland and Penn State each have one Crystal Ball prediction for him.

The final two prospects offered by Robinson on Thursday are only freshmen. Class of 2022 cornerback Jamal Hood was a starter for the team this year. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound defender picked up his first offer in late December from Massachusetts. That had been it until Florida offered the young standout on Wednesday and then both A&M and Maryland did so on Thursday.

The Aggies were offer No. 5 for class of 2020 outside linebacker Jaishawn Barham. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound defender has the same four as Hood with the addition of Penn State. Hood and Barham are only the third and fourth overall players in the class of 2022 to have been offered by the Aggies already. Robinson also made a few other stops in the area on Thursday. He offered Baltimore St. Francis four-star class of 2020 defensive end Demon Clowney, the cousin of Jadeveon, as well as Olney Good Counsel class of 2020 jumbo three-star athlete Mitchell Melton.

They've got Tyree Johnson and Aaron Hansford from DC on the team - no sense in not trying to leverage that into a pipeline at a national powerhouse.

Texas A&M Super Bowl event to have a loaded visitor list

Just like a year ago, Texas A&M will host a number of its top underclassman targets for a Super Bowl party next weekend. Last season saw the Aggies pick up two commitments at the event but also gain momentum with quite a few others in the class as many committed not long after.

This year’s event will again be star-studded and the visitor list will have more names added to it throughout the week. Players like the North Shore trio listed in the ‘maybe’ column still need to figure out their plans for next weekend and likely won’t know for a little while.

Again, this list will see additions as we confirm more players, but these are ones that we have confirmed so far. The current class of 2020 commitments are all expected in town as well.

-2020 Fort Bend Marshall QB Malik Hornsby: Once very close to being an A&M commitment, the national top-100 dual-threat prospect is still very high on the Aggies. He still says he wants to take visits this spring though. He says it is relatively sure he will be in town.

-2020 Fort Bend Marshall RB/WRDevon Achane: You won’t find many more electrifying players in the open field in the class than Achane. A high school running back, he will be a slot receiver at the next level and is very high on A&M.

-2020 Cedar Hill Trinity Christian CBDwight McGlothern: The five-star prospect has seemingly spent more time in College Station than he has in his hometown. He will be making his second trip in three weekend. However, the Aggies have some competition for him with Alabama being a notable one.

-2020 Aledo RB Jase McClellan(Oklahoma commit): The five-star junior made a very early commitment to Oklahoma as a sophomore but has still remained in contact with the Aggies since. He has been to College Station a couple times and will be there again next weekend.

-2020 Muscle Shoals (Ala.) LB Jackson Bratton (Alabama commit): An early Alabama pledge, it will be hard to switch the four-star linebacker from his in-state pledge. However, he made plans to be in Aggieland shortly after being offered a few weeks back.

-2020 Houston C.E. King S Bryson Washington: The four-star safety was not able to make it with his Fast7v7 teammates last weekend, so he will make the trip for the Super Bowl party instead.

-2020 Bastrop Cedar Creek DE Alfred Collins: Perhaps the state’s best defensive lineman, A&M was the first to offer Collins. However, he is a Longhorn legacy. The Aggies need to continue to get him to campus.

-2020 Newton DE James Sylvester:Though he has offers from all over the country, Sylvester looks like he will be an A&M-TCU battle. He is very high on the Aggies but has three class of 2019 teammates headed to play for the Horned Frogs.

-2020 Fort Bend Austin WR Troy Omeire: A big and fast wide receiver, the national top-100 prospect will be an A&M-Texas battle. It is big that the Aggies are getting him on campus again.

-2020 Cibolo Steele CB Jaylon Jones:Once very close to committing to the Aggies, the four-star cornerback now has Texas up there as well. Like many of the other in-state battles, it is big to get him on campus again.

-2020 Lancaster CB Lorando Johnson:The four-star cornerback recently named A&M in his top three, along with Arkansas and LSU. The Crystal Ball is in favor of LSU but the Aggies are still most definitely in it.

-2020 Lancaster RB/ATH Kevontre Bradford: The 5-foot-11, 185-pound high school running back does not have an offer from A&M at the moment, but he is one to watch. He has added several big offers recently, including one from USC on Saturday.

-2020 Mansfield Timberview CB Jalen Kimber: The Aggies are very high on Kimber and vice versa. He has seen his offer list increase quite a bit but is considered an A&M lean.

-2020 Stafford DE/LB Robert Wooten:A high school defensive end at a somewhat smaller school, the 6-foot-3, 230-pound Wooten is being looked at as a linebacker by the Aggies but is also being evaluated as a pass-rushing end as well. A&M has only offered one in-state linebacker in the class so far, but Wooten is one to watch to possibly receive one. Jimbo Fisher went by his school on Friday.

-2020 Cy Creek LB Josh White(Oklahoma State commit): Like Wooten, White is another linebacker prospect that does not have an A&M offer at this point but could be very close to one. Though he is committed to Oklahoma State, the 6-foot-1, 205-pound defender was at LSU this past weekend and is still open to others. He was his district’s Defensive MVP as a junior.

-2021 Virginia Beach (Va.) Princess Anne CB Tony Grimes: The five-star prospect from Virginia will actually arrive in town on Monday and spend the whole week in College Station. He did the same thing for a week during the summer as well.

-2021 Fort Bend Willowridge WR Latrell Neville: Like with Washington, Neville was unable to make the trip with the Fast team last weekend. The big sophomore wideout once had A&M as the leader, so the Aggies can do their best to get back in that position again.

-2021 Mesquite Horn LB Kendrick Blackshire: Linebackers, especially inside ones, are at a huge premium. Blackshire is currently ranked as the country’s top inside linebacker for the 2021 class and will be in College Station for the event.

-2021 Denton Ryan DE Ja'tavion Sanders: The two-way standout was just offered by the Aggies last week and will be making his way to College Station on Sunday. Sanders has been as hot as any prospect in the country in picking up offers the past two weeks.

-2021 Katy Tompkins DE Tunmise Adeleye: The 6-foot-3, 260-pound sophomore could be in the discussion as the state’s top prospect in the class when all is said and done. A&M was his first offer. Adeleye will be in town no matter and could be riding with a pair of Aggie commits in Smart Chibuzo and Akinola Ogunbiyi.

There aren’t a ton of guys that I’m worried about with ATM in 2020. I guess when the money starts getting thrown around, we’ll learn more, but we’re after mostly different guys. I can’t figure out how they’re going to get to taking even 18-20 guys in 2020, but I guess there’s going to be a big ass trap door installed for some of those juniors already on campus.

Hornsby is a turd. McGlothern is being handled and is probably for sale. Achane in this class isn’t going to fit for Texas.

I’d like for Texas to land Collins, Omeire, Washington and Jones, so it will be interesting to see the outcome with them after this visit.

It will be interesting to see the turnout of the “maybes” as that’s a sign of class buzz for a program.

McGowan will wind up at Stanford. I’m going to be pretty shocked if he shows legit interest in anyone in-state unless Texas gets serious with him soon.

McLellan is a stud in an Aledo offense taking a bunch of fucking bullets each season. I’d be happy if Texas signed him, but he has taken a beating, shown injury problems already, and has legitimate risk on him at the college level that McGowan and Evans don’t have.

The back out of Arizona is viewed as being basically as good as any of these guys and Milton, and Texas has a shot if they pivot. I don’t see them pivoting though. Go all in on Evans, take Jordan as RB2, and do what you can to bring in Mookie in the slot/APB role.

Also, LMFAO at the mouthbreather attempting to call Texas a regional Big 12 team. We’re the top 1, 2, or 3 brand in college sports and we’ve fucking sucked in most sports for damn near a decade. Good lord.

So for 2020 only 4 guys confirmed ( Washington, J. Jones, Collins, and Omeire) that we care about?  That's a far cry from last year with the new coach bump Jimbo had.  Like CTJ said, it'll be interesting to see how these 4 play out over the weekend.  Washington, J. Jones, and Collins are definitely heavy Texas leans.

Remember this, because he won't be saying Collins is the state's best lineman when he commits to UT.

A year of actual performance makes a big difference.  A year ago aggy was selling a (slightly used) NC winning coach brand new to the program vs a rising Texas program that still had a long way to go in becoming nationally competitive.  Today they are up against a top 10 Texas with huge program momentum.  The SECSEC myth is badly tattered.  And an aggy victory over NC St looks even less impressive when people realize that bowl squad was a mere shadow of its already UNRANKED self.  Then they have to stack that up against Texas dominating #5 Georgia in the Sugar Bowl that was 1B to Alabama's 1A.

So is McGlotherin the 2020 version of the “bought by Aggy only to be outbid near signing day by Alabama” DB prospect?

We would also have accepted the S prospect that believes he’s a CB that EJ will pump endlessly about, because: trainer.

Good lord.

So basically Ty Jordan likely locked in as RB2, with Evans being the primary RB1 target while keeping a good relationship with McClellan and the Arizona kid in case things go sideways with Evans? Sounds good to me. Brown, Whittington, and Jordan are all elite WRs for running backs, and it'll be fun to watch that part of the offense take off down the road

RB is loaded across the county for 2020, and it'll be interesting to see how the game of musical chairs develops

And we got Bru.
