Dallas Cowboys 2021 Offseason Thread: Fuck It All

Jesus what a dumb comment. Randy Gregory, Alton Smith, Taco Charlton, Micheal Bennett...  and that’s just the guys that are in the news for issues. There are a bunch more guys that are head cases that aren’t in the news, yet.

Wait taco was a “bad kind of guy” or just a bad draft pick?

Gregory wasn’t a bad character guy either. Wasn’t a good pick(in a long line of bad 2nd rounders) he just had issues with weed. Wasn’t a criminal or some shit.

Hill was probably the best case and you missed him. But how many other draft picks were “bad character guys”

Also we’re talking the DRAFT. Not all their offseason moves. The cowboys have not added “dawgs”, especially on defense, because of Garrett’s philosophy. The DRAFT is where they made the mistakes of looking at “character over talent”.

Talk about a stupid comment. Jesus you walked right into that.

Draft grades before any of these guys have played a down is my FAVORITE part of the draft

Yeah because that one guys rated this kid or that kid at a certain part fo the draft and apparently they are smarter than every team drafting.

Also we supposedly didn’t get the guy we wanted so we had a bad draft.

Gregory had some draft flags -- not just the positive test, but on his questionnaire, he had answered affirmatively that he had 1) been depressed before and 2) had thought about killing himself.  It's been a while, but I think that impacted his draft status.

Good grief you are digging your hole even deeper.

So your approach to trying to save face is to argue that it’s fine to bring in head cases and guys with character flaws as long as a lot of them come from free agent signings and not just draft choices.

And to just top it all off you also want to argue your point using Randy Gregory as an example.

I’m just going to let your thoughts sit there on the page. They require no further commentary

Hey everyone said they needed defense. It’s what they’re doing.

Even with the reaches everyone one fo these guys is playing quite a bit. High floor guys for the 3rd rounders. Not much more though.

the '75 dirty dozen were led by randy white and hollywood henderson, but the house money pick in that draft was bob breunig....

Breunig was selected in the third round (70th overall) of the 1975 NFL Draft, as part of the Dallas Cowboys' Dirty Dozen draft. In 1976, he became a starter at strongside linebacker, replacing the retired Dave Edwards.[4]

In 1977, he replaced the retired Lee Roy Jordan as the team's middle linebacker and defensive signal caller,[5] making him just the third player in franchise history (25 yrs) to hold the position as a regular starter. In 1979, he registered 18 tackles (9 solo) in one game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He led the team in tackles in six seasons and broke the Cowboys' single-season tackle record (167) in 1981.

Breunig started 117 straight games, until missing half of the 1984 season because of back problems that led to his retirement. He ended his career as the franchise's second-leading tackler (behind Jordan) with 1,016 stops, having played in ten seasons, appearing in 20

Nashon Wright, CB from Oregon State. NFL Network guy said he thought he was a 5th/6th round guy. Looks like Jerrah and crew slayed the 3rd round again. emoji849.png

This kid was on the last FB season of last chance U. There's no doubt he got drafted that high bc he was in Netflix. That said, he's pretty good, but not 3rd round good

Sturm just said they’re hearing his brother was on a BKB Last Chance U. This is an indefensible pick.

Unless I'm mis-remembering, his bro played at football OSU the same year Nashon was at Laney CC. Everyone penciled him in as a lock to OSU even though Nashon had higher aspirations but ultimately ended up there

Jake walked it back a bit — still not sure exactly what is what on this

Sad day that started off with plenty of picks to get TCU safety instead of projects with potential. I think we could have gotten the TCU safety by moving up (44 + 75 picks) and still gotten our head case DB with 84th pick. Both DEs may have been there with day three picks.

im no draft nerd but nfl.com has golston as a backup/special team guy with expected 6-7 round

OF the draft analysts I trust, all of them are in agreement that this is a subpar draft and the Cowboys last 2 picks were terrible value.  Now, certainly these guys can and are wrong often, but the Dallas personnel department certainly doesn't get the benefit of the doubt.  This feels like the memorable "special teams" draft about a decade ago.  Instead of having a disciplined draft board, we're just loading up on one side of the ball, throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks.  Parsons and Joseph really need to hit because while I like Osa, the last picks have been beyond meh.
