Quote

“This bill added hundreds of millions of dollars to the national debt, while not receiving a CBO score or going through the committee process," Boebert told CNN.

For one, the bill didn’t add any money to the national debt. While it authorizes $31 million per year for the C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program for the next five years—and $23 million per year for cord blood inventory program over that same period—the bill is not a spending measure. It will take an actual appropriations bill before actual money goes to the actual programs.

As she drafted her explanation Friday, Boebert seemed to establish a new criteria for legislation that she supports. “I’m not voting for bills that don’t go through committee and add hundreds of millions of dollars to the national debt,” Boebert tweeted Friday afternoon.

Again, the legislation doesn’t actually spend money, and the bills that avoid committee markups but make it to the House floor are typically only the least controversial ones—like measures to help people fight cancer.

Yeah, I joked a few weeks back that there was a 10% chance that MTG and Boebert may not even know they don't serve in the same Chamber of Congress as the Senate.  I think it's more like 33.3% now.

There's no shame in a freshman/freshwoman not understanding the appropriations process and/or CBO scoring.  But when you campaign exhaustively on "I will not tolerate special interest spending, pork projects, and secret committee markups while I am serving as your Representative!" .  Then a bill that is clearly flagged by leadership in both parties as not going through committee to avoid markup and get relief to a very basic, fundamental, and affordably proactive measure like marrow/cordblood donor matching...and you oppose it because you think it should go through committee to get marked up and porked up; I mean...c'mon.  Our insults and wisecracks directed at these two aside.........they're just defying themselves to defy somebody, to look obtrusive just to be obtrusive.  They're opposing shit just to appear drain-the-swamp/Trumpian because 4 months in, they're already out of crazy.  This is rage-a-holic simpleton-ness at its best.  They're barely trying anymore and they're not even half-way into their terms.

I can see you have experience with working with PTO parents. Welcome to the club!

Boebert: "Yeah um, I don't get it."

Ms. Lippy:  "What don't you get?"

Boebert:  "I mean, the kid with leukemia is just all defeated?  He just put up some gofundme page and then sits on his porch like a goon and waited for a donor.  That little boy's gotta think, you got leukemia, you got responsibilities.  You get a fucking gun, you get out there, and you take that fucking donor marrow by force!"

Does it defraud everyone involved or just some of them?

I'd love to get a look at the Cap Table of her bar/grill in Colorado.  I'm betting even by shitty restaurant finances, it's a fucking doozy.

Which Marxism is she talking about?  Groucho, Harpo or Chico?

Ask her to define “bourgeoisie” and there’s not a chance in hell she could do it. Same with “proletariat.” She’s typical of the Republicans who grew up feeding on the new party dogma (Thanks, Ronny) and who can toss around the buzzwords without having a single fucking clue about what any of them actually mean. Weaponized ignorance is their standard and it succeeds because it allows them to raise money from the frightened simpletons who make up their base.

The irony of talking about a Ponzi scheme when a brain-dead heiress to the Amway fortune (maybe more of a pyramid scheme but the differences are trivial) was appointed to head the Dept. of Education by the dumbest fucking moron to ever hold the office of POTUS.

Can you imagine the conversation she had with her inner circle? “I’m going to complete my GED so I can run for Congress...wouldn’t want anybody saying I’m not qualified.”

“You’re running as a Republican, right? Okay, no problem. You’ll practically be overqualified.”

Remember when someone asked Trump about “western liberalism” and he responded by talking about Democratic politicians from California? Good times. I’m betting the humor of that episode was lost on Boebert.

No mention of any helicopter crashes?  Maybe the summer ads will at least feature a borrowed Harley Davidson.

I guess she could borrow an old 5window Chevy pickup, put on some flannel and run for Lt. Gov.

Good god, no, thankfully I don't remember that.

It's such a good revolution.

It's such a sweeeeeeet socialization.

That song brings back a lot of memories - New Year's Eve, 1991, rolling down a highway in North Texas in a cousin's '89 Firebird with a shotgun and a case of blanks, looking for hitchhikers.

We wore that cassette tape out that night.

Dafuq am i looking at?

The foil wrapping of what is apparently a Pop-Tart three-pack, something I didn’t know existed. My brown sugar cinnamon Pop-Tarts only ever came in two-packs. At least since they went to that foil wrapping. And before that. They used to come in a paper wrapper with a foil liner inside. That was a long time ago. When I was a freshman in college I worked in the “commons,” aka the cafeteria, and I stole a 100 count case of brown sugar cinnamon Pop-Tarts and took them to my dorm room. I traded a good number of them for bong hits from my pot-smoking neighbors.

”Hey...uh...do you still have any of those Pop-Tarts left?” “Sure. Here you go.” “Thanks! Want to smoke a bong?”

I don’t remember how they were packaged in that big case. But at least by 1990 they moved to the foil wraps. Comedian Paula Poundstone did a great bit on Pop-Tarts and you can see the foil wrappers in this clip:
