Not so much, running a car into a concrete barrier protecting the capitol then brandishing an AR-15 assault knife was as close as he got to an 'Active mass shooting'.  Though he was shot by security, and is reported to now be dead.

The loser idiot did hit 2 officers who were taken to the hospital, one in critical condition.

Congress was not in session.

the car rammed the vehicle and the car rammed a barricade?  was this self driving?

PBS Frontline's documentary on the insurrection.  They piece things together between Charlottesville, proud boys, boogaloo, the military, the michigan governor kidnapping plot, MAGA, and the insurrection.  A few notable interviews with extremists.  Hopefully, no one here views them as anything more than duped traitors.

I know why the police let the insurrectionists get so far into the capitol and why the national guard took more than 3 hours to act...

Reuters: Trump wanted troops to protect his supporters at Jan. 6 rally

President Donald Trump wanted National Guard troops in Washington to protect his supporters at a Jan. 6 rally that ended with them attacking the U.S. Capitol, leaving five dead, Trump's former Pentagon chief testified on Wednesday.

Former Acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller told a House of Representatives panel that he spoke with Trump on Jan. 3, three days before the now-former president's fiery speech that preceded the violence and led to his second impeachment.

According to Miller's testimony, Trump asked during that meeting whether the District of Columbia's mayor had requested National Guard troops for Jan. 6, the day Congress was to ratify Joe Biden's presidential election victory.

Trump told Miller to "fill" the request, the former defense secretary testified. Miller said Trump told him: "Do whatever is necessary to protect demonstrators that were executing their constitutionally protected rights."

Miller made the remarks during a contentious hearing held by the House Oversight Committee, which is investigating security failures in the days leading to and during the riot.

Representative Carolyn Maloney, the Democrat who chairs the committee, demanded answers from Miller on why National Guard troops did not arrive until hours after the building was overrun.

Miller testified that the U.S. military was deliberately restrained that day when Trump's rally turned into an assault by hundreds of his followers that left five dead, including a Capitol Police officer.

Miller testified that he was concerned in the days before Jan. 6 that sending National Guard troops to Washington would fan fears of a military coup or that Trump advisers were advocating martial law.

Also, an active duty Major in the Marines was arrested today for storming the capitol. Fucking traitor.

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/05/13/capitol-riot-us-marine-major-warnagiris-arrested-for-role-in-trump-mob.html

Major Christopher Warnagiris, who is the first active-duty member of the U.S. armed forces to be charged in connection with the riot, is accused of pushing his way past a line of police protecting the Capitol and forcing his way through a doorway in the East Rotunda of the Capitol.

Warnagiris, a 40-year-old Woodbridge, Virginia resident, is charged with assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers, obstruction of law enforcement, obstruction of Congress, violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol Grounds, and entering or remaining in a restricted building without lawful authority.

Warnagiris, whose 18-year tenure in the Marines includes deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, faces a maximum possible sentence of 20 years in prison if convicted of the charges, which will be prosecuted in federal court in Washington.

Warnagiris currently is assigned to the training and education command of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force Staff Training Program at the Marine base in Quantico, Virginia, according to Marines.

He's done.  The Marine Corps have already made a statement.  18 years in and only a major, I'm assuming he was enlisted and then went to OCS, otherwise he was a really shitty officer.

He's only 40.  It's hard to come in at 22 via OCS and top out at O-4 at 40, but not unheard of.  Also not out of the realm of possibility he was up for Lt. Col. in the coming months/year.  Hard to say if he would have had time in at rate to leave at 20yrs at O-5.  But sucks for him, he is almost certainly not getting O-4 retirement comp. at age 42.  And what really sucks is he may get the letter stating that fact while doing a ten year stretch in Charleston.  Semper Fucked.

Needs to be more than that.  Read Article 94 of the UCMJ:

(a)Any person subject to this chapter who—(1)

with intent to usurp or override lawful military authority, refuses, in concert with any other person, to obey orders or otherwise do his duty or creates any violence or disturbance is guilty of mutiny;

(2)

with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of lawful civil authority, creates, in concert with any other person, revolt, violence, or other disturbance against that authority is guilty of sedition;

(3)

fails to do his utmost to prevent and suppress a mutiny or sedition being committed in his presence, or fails to take all reasonable means to inform his superior commissioned officer or commanding officer of a mutiny or sedition which he knows or has reason to believe is taking place, is guilty of a failure to suppress or report a mutiny or sedition.

(b)

A person who is found guilty of attempted mutiny, mutiny, sedition, or failure to suppress or report a mutiny or sedition shall be punished by death or such other punishment as a court-martial may direct.

I don't support the death penalty.  But an active duty member of the military committed sedition against the lawful civil authority that governs this country.  He should serve a life sentence as an example to all other members of the military who committed sedition against our government (if this happened in a Latin American country, we'd call it an attempted coup).  Bury him UNDER the prison.

I don't envy his DSO.  His entire defense is basically gonna be trying to get Trump on the stand so he can shout (Cruise/Nicholson style):

"Did you order the Insurrection?!?"  (off-camera: the witness doesn't have to answer that!)

"Did you order the Insurrection?!?"

"You're goddamned right I did!"

Barring a sequel to "A Few Good Men", Major Warnagiris is going to be made an example of as the highest ranking officer to take place in this usurping of our government at its own seat.  In another era, he would be executed by firing squad.  As it is, he'll be stripped of benefits, his family will go into squalor, and he will rot in Charleston for 20 years.  And the SJA will see to it that he does every single day of it.  Unless...of course...he'd be willing to flip against a superior officer.

Really long game by antifa false flag operators to rise up to USMC 0-4 in order to eventually lead the insurrection.   I mean this guy had to come up with the idea to pose as a BLM rioter 18 years ago during W’s first term.  That’s some fucking planning.
