I tell you the front office IS that sick.

Both tacos.

Buzbee and the Texans are in cahoots somehow.

There is a very good chance ol' Tony has stepped on a landmine here. Rusty's counter-attack is going to be comprehensive and nobody on that side will be safe, lawyers included.

Yes, there is a chance DeShaun Watson is a predator. Prior to last week, there was no evidence of that at all. In fact, there was evidence that he was a solid citizen and all-around good guy. At this point there are a lot of accusations, but all of them are anonymous. And again, I cannot stress how weird it is that Buzbee nor any of these plaintiffs want a penny from Watson.

On the other hand, we have long known the Texans to be an inept organization, and increasingly, with the rise of Easterby, even borderline insane. I only know that from outside observation. I believe @OWLVIS has had dealings with them personally, and he seems unwilling to put much of anything past Cal and co.

You keep saying that. It isn’t true.

When they say the pled “minimum jurisdictional limits of $500” it does not mean they are only seeking $500. It is a formality that has to be included in a petition for subject matter jurisdiction. They will be seeking to be paid 6 or 7 figures each. And Buzbee is going to take about 40% of whatever they get.

Anyone else read the lesbian's lawsuit? I know we are not supposed to question the validity or state of mind in situations like this, but that shit makes no sense. It doesn't make sense from the plaintiff's pov, Deshaun's pov or Buzbee's wild ass statement. It's like they are all high.

Yep. The Texans, Buzbee, the ten masseuses.  They're all trying to bring a good man down.  I believe!!

What motivation would the Texans have to push this story out into the public eye? Try to trade him or beg him to stay, this doesn’t help either goal...

None of this still makes any sense. If the Texans knew about all this in January, they should have traded him for whatever junk Miami or Denver (or whatever teams were on Deshaun’s secret list) were offering. If it’s all bullshit and the Texans are part of it, all they get out of it best case is nothing (voided contract, no trade value). At worst, NFL puts Watson on paid leave and/or Texans get outed and face death penalty level punishment. If Watson had held out, they could get his signing bonus back plus fines and still traded him later. What is the conspiracy now? Deshaun waives his no trade clause and the Texans get this to disappear? A dangerous game, friendo.

Yeah but that's just how these things work. It's under wraps and hush hush until it isn't.

I don't know which is which so maybe we're talking about the same thing but I read the lawsuit where the girl admitted to shitting her pants and blacking out due to fear and the whole thing seemed weird.

Granted, I don't read a lot of detailed rape accusations but some of it read almost like satire to me.

I've read what is available with the accusations. They allege some pretty zany shit. Like, it makes Watson seem almost childlike in the way he goes about it.

I also find it curious that this isn't gaining more traction with national media.

None of us know shit about the validity of this right now. Nice guys get falsely charged. A Church Deacon and Scoutmaster turns out to be the BTK serial killer. Who knows what is true?

I know nothing about the law, but wouldn't a good attorney pretty much eviscerate that story when he goes over it with her? How did she not realize that it was Deshaun Watson from the first time? Wouldn't they have exchanged pleasantries? Hey, i'm so and so, i'll be massagaing you today. Oh, hi so and so, i'm deshaun watson.

And then he DMs her on insta for another sesh, i'm assuming using his account with his name, and that particular incident doesn't completely stick out in her head and make her realize who he is?

Okay then, Buzbee is making a misleading point about this over and over again, and that leads me to believe he really wants the public to believe it's not about the money.

One example of several times:

Quote

“This case is about female empowerment,” Buzbee said, dismissing any notion the case was about money. “Taking the power back. These women who are stepping forward knew they would face scorn and ridicule. They agreed to plead for the minimal jurisdictional limits of the court and they bring these cases for one reason only: stopping further misconduct from this defendant and any others like him.”

Others on Instagram, which I can't figure out how to embed.

I forgot to add to the ledger above:

Prior to last week we thought Watson was a good dude. Also prior to last week, we knew the Texans to be inept and Buzbee to be increasingly erratic for the last five years. He has been a loose cannon since his divorce and I'd be willing to bet we only know about 25 percent of what he's been up to.

I stand by my theory that this started as a rumor from Cal/Easterby to Buzbee that Watson is a freak. Buzbee hires PI. They hack Watson’s phone and gets all sorts of dirt and contacts. Buzbee and/or buffer makes contact with each woman.

The speed of the suits and timing of dispute between Watson/McNair/Easterby are all suspicious. Also, that Buzbee is a joke.

There’s also the unknown dispute that was bothering DW with Texans prior to the lawsuit. My guess is that DW got word that someone was fishing into his “massages.” He also was extorted for money prior to disclosure. He probably underestimated the legitimacy of it all, because he didn’t know his phone was hacked.

Not sure there’s going to be any heroes in this one.

Regarding motive for Cal/Easterby, I don’t think there is a concrete one. Perhaps they had no idea what they started. Sure, it is possible that they have nothing to do with this.

They also were in a no-win situation before this scandal. Trading Watson was a bad option. And Watson refusing to play was also a bad option. You blow up the dynamics, maybe your options become better. Watson is suspended for a year, Texans go 2-14, and Watson steps back in for the rebuild, totally rehabbed. Born again.

It's all part of his overall strategy of trying this case in the media and it fits very well with the playbook of a smear campaign. Drip drip the lawsuits, each more salacious than the last. Post a bunch of alternately self-aggrandizing and / self pitying crap on Instagram to keep people talking, I guess? (That shit is just weird.) Lie about how the police have asked for your case files. Lie about how it isn't about money. Keep all the plaintiffs under wraps. Say you have incriminating text messages and post only a couple that are somewhat ambiguous, even as you post some of the most graphic pleadings I've seen outside of bad porn.

He managed to ejaculate on her face and "all over her body"? I've heard of young, dumb and full of cum, and was once so myself, but come on, that's laying it on a little thick. All of this is laid on too thick and gets more so every day. Sheer number of accusations means nothing when we don't know who any of these people even are.

Look, I’m not a real lawyer in the sense I don’t practice at all or know shit, but that complaint- especially at the end- seems absurd when it starts essentially crusading against the NFL. Might it be true? Sure. But it seems really ducking pointless in a complaint.

Just another clumsy attempt to keep this story in the news....Buzbee seems to fishing for stories like "DeShaun Watson, yet another rapist in the NFL" or "Even the so-called nice guys are rapists..."

Yeah yeah, partisan politics, no CR, but Sylvester Turner alleged that Buzbee's attack ads crossed the line into criminality in the last campaign, violations of the Deep Fake laws. Bill King also complained of Buzbee's weaselly ads.

Quote

Mayor Sylvester Turner has called for the district attorney to open a criminal investigation into Tony Buzbee’s campaign over a television ad that appears to show edited photos of Turner and an allegedly fake text between the mayor and a 31-year-old intern who works at the airport.

The video, a 30-second spot that began airing earlier this month, highlights a recent report that found Turner signed off on a $95,000-a-year executive internship for a man the mayor initially denied knowing, despite evidence of their prior connections.

In a statement, Turner contended the video violates a section of the Texas Election Code that bars campaigns from creating “deep fake” videos, defined as an ad “created with the intent to deceive, that appears to depict a real person performing an action that did not occur in reality.”

Quote

Mayoral candidate Bill King, who also has criticized Turner over the internship, took issue Friday with a mailer from Buzbee’s campaign in which King’s head is edited onto a body of a man carrying a box of office supplies as if he had just been fired, below the text: “Are you fed up with the failures of politicians & cronies like Bill King?”

Well that explains a lot. It also means more batshittery to come. This past year I thought it couldn’t get much worse but it is...and the Rockets are a mess. Htown be fucked up right now.

Early in this thread (1/18), very prescient. The “batshittery” describes McNair/Easterby. As they involve themselves in the personal lives of their employees, it’s not a stretch to believe they knew about Watson’s massage creeps and were involved in some way, with its exposure, fabrication, and/or embellishment.

While anything is possible, I'm still not buying the 'Texans did this!' conspiracy theories.  There is no way the Texans come out anywhere close to better than if the story had never come out.  Trade or not.  Their single most valuable asset has been significantly and permanently devalued.

And the more that comes out, the more I flip from believing the accusers to thinking that this could be a money grab by a shyster lawyer and opportunistic women he convinced to embellish their stories.  Too many of those stories read like a bad TV script, women coached by a slimeball lawyer into what to say and when to cry for max propaganda benefit.  The stink from Buzbee's antics just keeps getting stronger and stronger.

Which might end up hurting legitimate cases against him.  DW may have crossed lines, he at best was careless (I've read a lot of NFL players set up camera systems in their home massage rooms to try and prevent any false accusations), and he might have broken the law.  OTOH, he could also be a victim of a Heathers type of scheme.

I'm keeping an open mind, but right now it looks most like a money and attention grab by Buzbee.  Let's not pretend that some women won't lie if there's money on the line.  I don't know that some or any are doing that, but it sure smells fishy right now.

I’d be shocked if they didn’t know. My issue is: if a hooker was raped would you believe her?

If a girl that just got her business started on any website, that was newly engaged and just graduated from chiropractic school and got her license to practice as a mobile massage therapist would you believe her?

not without video. As the Ray Rice case proves. Or pictures? Did she darken up her eye? Did she call the police?

I’m not saying Watson is guilty my posts have said as much. I stand by them. My issue is with my fellow friends on here is what constitutes assault. I’d love a world where there was no murder , rape or sexual trafficking or abductions. I don’t want to derail this thread but guess who is the major factor in all of these crimes:

Men. Drop the mike.

What y’all should find interesting is that Watson’s attorney said he’d put out the defense today. No defense.  Basically they acknowledge Watson was with all these therapists/masseuse types. The defense has not said so. So he knew all these 22 plus women? At some point, it’s called plausible deniability and apparently the defense has an issue:

So your contention is that Buzbee and a PI committed multiple crimes and "hacked Watson's phone" to gather dirt on Watson, then contacted all these women and each one of them decided that getting in on this felony scheme sounded like an awesome idea?

Hacking phones, get real dude. Criminals use malware to do that on a huge scale, governments go after terrorists (and it's damn hard/sometimes impossible).  PIs wait for a pissed off girlfriend to figure out the passcode and walk in with printouts.  Even then they don't actually access the phone, its extremely illegal.

So you have zero suspicion? Deshaun Watson goes from all around good dude, to having 20 sexual assault accusers seemingly overnight. And i know you'll point to Cosby and Weinstein as examples. But with guys like that, there are rumors and stories swirling for a long time before they gey caught. People made jokes about Harvey Weinstein being a predator at awards shows before he got into trouble. The literal only reason Cosby got in trouble is because Hannibal Burress made a joke about it and it went viral. A lot of people who had been around Cosby and been in Hollywood knew about him.

Seemingly nobody knew that Watson was doing stuff like this, until now. There were no rumors, no accusers, no payoffs that we know about. Then, suddenly, 20 women. Now, if we can get some history of paying women off and covering stuff up, which there should be ample proof of, i will start to lean towards Watson did this stuff. Hell, even stories from people who have been close to and been around Watson that he is a lowkey dirty sketchball freak will be enough for me to start suspecting him. But until then, this is too much, too suddenly, and i really do have a lot of questions.

The scheme as you laid out is both insanely illegal and ludicrously complex.  At this point, it involves cajoling dozens of women into filing false pleadings.  And, of course, that means that you entering into a criminal scheme to embezzle/defame/blackmail someone with dozens of people who you already know are willing to engage in a criminal scheme. At some point the criminal mastermind here has to think, "wait, what if one of these women blackmails ME now that she's wise to our plan. What happens when she realizes she can get far more out of the owners of the Texans than she can in a lawsuit against a Texans player?"

And that's just the women witnesses.  The architects of the scheme are so far out of lawsuit territory, it's absurd.  They are into lose your law license, lose your NFL franchise, go directly to prison and don't pass go if the scheme gets found out.  And it will get found out, because insanely complex criminal schemes involving dozens of people don't stay under wraps outside of Ocean's 11. The schemes by definition rely on the integrity and competence of people who by definition are lacking integrity and are usually really, really stupid.

Now, if this were a single woman member of the Texans' training staff making an allegation and team management low-key lining up behind her?  OK, maybe there is something odd. Do I believe it's possible that not all of the women making filings are telling the whole truth? Sure.  Do I think it's plausible that dozens of people at this point are in at different levels of a grand conspiracy to defraud a football player who wants a trade?  I'd say its far more within the realm of possibility that DW4 has a pretty freaky kink he didn't control, no? He's only been in the league for three years, right? Hardly a Cosby-esque career in the public spotlight.

If the argument is that the Texans have long known about this and have chosen only now to make a stink--- OK, well, now I think DW4 is a predator AND the Texans have been covering up for a predator.  So no real change in my opinion on the dude acting like a creep.

As far as "the phone musta been hacked", that's usually the part where I tune out of a movie or TV show that I knew going into is fiction. It's a lazy plot point for a story we all know is fake.

As soon as there is real, tangible proof beyond "wow that's a large number of women to accuse someone of something like that", i will be all-in on putting the creep in jail, Susan.

Do you think that the account that i quoted earlier in this thread will hold up to scrutiny in a court room, in front of a judge, when a lawyer is cross examining that person?

What do you want video? I’m in no way saying Watson is guilty but if it were Brady or Stafford or Carr would you be this voracious in their defense? Have you bothered to read the account of the third alleged victim? Yes the Texans are slime. But honestly has Watson via his attorney denied meeting with all the alleged victims? Be pretty simple to do. My client never even met plaintiff number 16, your honor!

OK, so you've got one!  And this is, FWIW, textbook defense when it comes to these cases. To focus on the strangest or weakest elements of one or two accusers while just shrugging at the overwhelming pattern from an overwhelming number of people.

And, even  if that one person is not telling the truth, you jump into the realm of fanfic when you move into theorizing a vast criminal conspiracy to accomplish....what is it, exactly, that this accomplishes for the conspirators again?

I believe Weinstein and Cosby are guilty. I just want people who know him and have been associated with him to say yeah we could see him doing it. That's all.

And again, the story of the lesbian who was assaulted twice will not hold up to scrutiny. And if there is one that won't hold water, then there are probably multiple others that won't either. I think this dude is spamming lawsuits with the intent of not following up on all of them, hoping Watson will just pay to make it all go away.
