This. The idea that Trump is some kind of luxury brand that appeals to sophisticated consumers is completely orthogonal to reality. The rich and famous aren’t dining on frozen steaks and bottled tap water. Trump is and always has been a brand that peddles a thin veneer of fake luxury to schmucks.

Megaprops for "orthogonal to reality."

Try to seat a jury of 12 w/out at least 1 trumpkin on it.  You can't.  That fat fuck will never spend a day in jail; I think that's where you see the pessimistic resignation coming from.

he's bullet proof. he's drago (before rocky nicked him) nothing has been able to stick to this man.

I'll bet you $100 that he never serves a day in prison.  If I lose the bet, that's the best $100 I ever lost.

That’s a fair, but I’m a little superstitious and feel like if I make the bet now it might jinx it.

I’m all for a friendly wager, let’s just shake on it before his trial.

We are going to be posting this same gif until the day he dies. He’s going to skate on everything. My only hope is that his spawn sees some repercussions. Sorry to be all Brisket on this subject, but show me a reason I should be optimistic.

Word on the street is that Andrew Giuliani is running so as to squash the hell outta this. If you want to improve the odds, better encourage NY to vote against him. Cuomo did not make that easy, either.

Also: Stefanik is going to help Andrew because reasons. Obvious reasons.

Oh, I've already come to grips with that. I just want this to be the lead story on the 6:00 news for the next 18 months. Bonus points if he has the likes of Lin Wood and Rudy defending him.

I'm fine with it being the lead story as long as they do not put his picture or audio of his voice on the screen when they talk about it.  Only exception should be if he's in handcuffs and leg cuffs being shuffled in and out of a courtroom in a bright orange leisure suit.

Won't work.  Also, no fucking way in hell he gets elected.  Cuomo needs to step aside and not run.

I mean, it's only a matter of time before his lawyers pull the "your honor, our client is just an old man suffering from dementia and is unfit to stand trial, now if you will excuse us he has a political rally to attend as he is running for President" move, right?

Fixed that for ya

Normally, I think Trump would get away with it. He’s rich. He can hire a army of lawyers to outspend most lawsuits. Example, his entire grifting life. Trump Steaks, Casino, College, etc. But after taking a shit on the country, and his continuance in doing so, I think people in governmental positions will have the resolve and public support to follow through.

I'm not sure about that. Maybe. I'm not confident. But I'd also remind you that this clown at this point probably CAN'T hire an army of lawyers, or at least lawyers worth a shit, and he almost might struggle to pay for the attorneys period. Look at Rudy. I'm sure that he'll spend 100% of his PAC donations on buying his forthcoming book and then handing it out at rallies for dat book money, but otherwise getting that money out of his PACs to pay directly for attorneys will be tricky (unless there's some other methods I don't know about, which is very likely).

Once he became President, he opened himself up to way more scrutiny from different agencies that would have left him alone if he remained a private citizen. He undoubtedly tried to shift his grift game to the new situation but just doesn't surround himself with capable enough people to implement his grift in a way that could be hidden while (ex)President. I think there will be plenty of things that come out from his private dealings, but the things that may stick are the things that come out from campaign funds handling and trying to filter them thru his org.

Why Dont We Have Both GIF

GQP/Fox, et al would absolutely argue that dotard has dementia so can't stand trial and could run for POTUS, simultaneously, and be the best president (again!) evar, in the exact same breath.

Trump isn’t rich like he says, but he isn’t poor. Even if he only has 50 million. That’s still rich. Yes, he didn’t pay Rudy and a host of other contractors during his rally speeches. That doesn’t mean he can’t pay people to keep him out of jail. He acts like a mob boss. That’s all he knows how to be. A selfish spoiled cunt. He didn’t pay Rudy because why should he, Rudy didn’t succeed in overturning the election. He didn’t pay thousands of contractors because fuck them, they should be happy to help him, he’s the King. If people want the money, they will have to claw and fight for it in court. And by then, most people will take less money just to be done with it.

Any person or organization that does business with Trump is an idiot and has fallen for the gilded mirage. He puts up a mirage of gold and wealth and luxury. It’s a trap for idiots. It’s not real. It only exists to lure people in and shake them down for money. It’s a con. It’s always been a con. The same for his continual running for office. Another con for donations.

American banks stopped loaning his money because they learned the hard way he never paid back his loans. Foreign banks, like Deutsch Bank, loaned him money, why? Most people think money laundering, but who knows if we will ever know.

This was a response to a post of mine saying that this was the best chance to get Trump for many reasons stated lately on this thread. It's a good response. The prediction is too absolute but point taken. Pos rep.

I find it a little heartening that 63% of the people approve of Biden. Some of the GOP Stockholm Syndromers seem to be falling away cult adherence. The election suggested this wouldn't happen.

So, the odds of seating a jury with 12 people open to convicting Trump are a little brighter than I thought. Even if some jurors are Trumpist, being subjected to evidence and argument about Trump fleecing people in the name of children's cancer charity, laundering money for Russians, and being a piece of shit could even sway them.

I don't care much about predicting game outcomes on the football board. I like watching the games and letting time reveal the winner. Same goes here. Kansas and Iowa State beat Texas over the last decade. Texas beat Georgia. Hell, even the dogass Aggies upset Alabama once.

It's the first quarter, and our guys just kicked a field goal on the opening drive. Feels good. I'm not changing channels.

I'd assume an attorney/firm worth a damn would estimate time/material for a two year period and demand full payment up front.  I'm completely ignorant to whether or not that is legal/ethical but the dude does NOT pay his bills, so don't see how they'd have a choice.

They would if they cared about being paid, but I would guess the publicity is probably worth more than the payment for some of these firms that will be his lawyers, not to mention most of the rubes who sign up for it are probably true believers.

Sorry but this is totally wrong. In Alabama? Sure. In New York or even Atlanta? No problem whatsoever.

Did dotard get more than 10 percent of the NY vote?  B/c 1 of 12 is just 8%

That doesn’t matter. It’s why you can still get an all white jury in Mississippi to convict the black guy even though 25 percent of the county is black. There are juror strikes used by both sides and trumpkins will be legally struck by prosecutors in both New York or Fulton county. Maybe they can hide the fact that they are trumpkins from prosecutors but I doubt it since trumpkins are stupid.

A key for Trump if he gets indicted would be to try to move venue outside of NYC.  It would be much harder work keeping Trumpkins off the jury outside the boroughs.

I remain somewhat optimistic that criminal charges are brought somewhere.  Whether he beats them or not may be a different question.

It's definitely a different ballgame from what "Citizen" Trump is used to.  His track record on actually winning civil suits I think is pretty bad.  He can make himself enough of a pain in the ass to reduce the settlement to a number he can swallow, but that kind of thing doesn't work in criminal cases.
