Also JAKE

I can't remember the last time we had a player break a foot.  How does that happen... someone step on him?  IIRC, there was a football player who got injured by dropping a weight on his foot.  Andrew Beck had some type of uncommon foot injury.

Lots of possibilities. I ended up with a stress fracture in my foot one spring in HS when I was running track, powerlifting, and going through offseason football at the same time. It took 6 weeks to get an appointment to see a specialist, so it was nearly healed  by the time I did. Had to run and lift on it in pain in the meantime.

Was it Mason Walters who has a teammate drop a weight on his right foot?

I personally find this intriguing.

Sark ran some two back sets with Coleman and Freeman in Atlanta. If the majority of our WRs continue to struggle and we keep having injury issues there, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a good bit of 21 and 12, maybe even some 22 this year.

IT notes from Saturday's scrimmage:

Spoiler

By: Eric Nahlin

-It was 1s vs. 2s for most of the day except at the end of the scrimmage where about 25 plays were 1s vs. 1s.

-Hudson Card took the first snaps with the ones at quarterback but both he and Casey Thompson took snaps with the first and second teams.

-Josh Thompson intercepted Card on one play when the defense played zone behind a three-man front with a delayed blitzer.

-Thompson threw a touchdown pass to a tight end on a drag route when the defense lost track of him in coverage.

-Bijan had several nice runs, including one for around 50 yards where he ran through a couple of poor tackling attempts.

-The offensive line is currently without two starting tackle candidates, a first-team tackle and a second-team tackle. The edge rushing duo of Ray Thornton and Jacoby Jones did have a solid days, but it was against a slightly depleted O-line

-Jerrin Thompson had a big form tackle near the goal line. He’s being pushed by Brenden Schooler, who had a big Saturday including several PBUs and TFLs. Schooler played with the 1s and 2s.

-Tyler Owens made a big hit near the goal line against Roschon Johnson from the safety position.

-The search for wide receivers continues. Jordan Whittington is about the only reliable guy for the Longhorns right now, and he is asked to do a little bit of everything.

-Overall, the staff was happy with the scrimmage. A good, but not great, day.

Well there’s our answer on the OT vs edge stuff.

Gonna need some real pass pro for those routes

Sark runs a lot of max protect, so that should help our OL provide time for some long developing routes. Though I’m a bit skeptical how it’ll work with our lack of WR talent and the Big 12 preference to drop 7/8.

is it though? This is the epitome of a zero sum tweet.

Jacoby Jones hasn’t exactly been a world beater when he gets playing time.

Yeah, the fact that not just Collins, but DL like Thornton, Jones, and Broughton - guys we know aren’t world beaters - are getting singled out as bright spots says a lot... about the OL.

Don’t know much about Thornton but Jones will probably be better than a lot of people think, and I think Broughton will flash at times this year too.

Based on what? He’s been here two years and hasn’t shown a whole lot, and he got to play full time DE last year.

We wont be running max protect against those schemes. If we do find ourselves in that situation I can see us checking to a run like we use to do with D Foreman. We picked up 3rd and long more often than not doing that.
