She discovered that male human babies who had been exposed to the phthalates in the womb had a shorter anogenital distance - something that correlated with penile volume.

One study published in 2017 found that sperm levels among men in Western countries had dropped by more than 50% over the past four decades after examining 185 studies involving close to 45,000 healthy men.

Dr Swan believes that the rapidly decreasing fertility rate means that most men will be unable to produce viable sperm by 2045.

I don't know if that is a good or a bad development.

Today I learned "anogenital distance" = taint size

Username kinda sorta maybe checks out.

Wonder if we’re seeing a moment with male fertility similar to climate change in the 80s or smoking before that, where it takes forever to come around. Hope not, cause that would suck, and there’s a fucking zero percent chance we fix it if so.

I mostly posted the tweet/article because it was one of the more intriguing 'murder hornet,' 'brain-eating/flesh eating antibiotic resistant bacteria,' topics for the new year.

Shit, pollutive ‘Female Hormone Mimics’ have been around since the late 70’s. Gator penises have been taking a beating for decades.

I suspect it's part something that merits attention because these chemicals do have an effect upon mammals, and part based on her promoting her book (the scientist in the article). However, since you listed the  1994 article above from the SunSentinel (which brought up the topic due to media from the NYT & ABC) I think it is fascinating the coincidence that author PD James wrote her book, The Children of Men, in 1992 and set it in 2021. The conspiracy theorists would have a field day with that one. I read the book prior to the movie (with dreamy Clive Owen) loosely based on her book came out, because I had discovered her mysteries at the local library and like to read all of an author's works if possible.

I suspect these dystopian novels will surge again due to world events, perhaps some of them will even be well-written if we're fortunate. Or, I guess if an author wanted to take on a cross-over genre challenge, they could write dystopian apocalyptic porn featuring the amazing contortions a male with malformed genitalia could achieve in valiant sustained effort to prolong the species and find a robust audience.

I think that most of the penises around here have probably been taking a beating for decades.

Centuries, in Brat's case.
