Yeah, no idea who they'll get to fill her pointy shoes. Baylor is building a new bball arena soon and there's some talent on the team still (assuming they don't all transfer) so I guess it's an attractive job to someone. Karen Aston jump ship from Roadrunners maybe?

if Aston could not take the heat at Texas no way she can take it at Baylor following Mulkey

She's going home:

Quote

Seven women filed a federal class-action lawsuit against LSU and its leadership Monday, with the university's former president and athletic director, as well as its athletic fundraising group, among those named as defendants, according to a copy of the lawsuit obtained by ESPN.

According to the 118-page document, the women attended the Baton Rouge campus at some point from 2013 to 2021, and "were victims of sex-based discrimination, including rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and/or stalking, perpetrated by male LSU students."

The women include three former LSU tennis players, two former student workers in the football recruiting office, a former student and a current student. They allege "a conspiracy" by the defendants to keep them quiet and "deprive them of their constitutional and federal rights in order to protect the reputation and income of LSU athletics."

They are seeking more than $5 million in damages, plus court costs.

Oregon St. president resigns over Miles saga
The lawsuit states that the majority of the women weren't able to report their incidents to the university's Title IX office "because LSU employees discouraged or even overtly prevented them from doing so." The document, first obtained by USA Today, states the women who were able to file complaints with the Title IX office "were ignored and their complaints were not appropriately investigated or addressed. Some plaintiffs experienced unlawful retaliation after attempting to report sex-based discrimination."

On Monday, LSU vice president of communications and university relations Jim Sabourin provided the following statement to ESPN: "We have only just been made aware of the lawsuit through media stories, and therefore can't comment on something we have yet to review. Instead, we are focused on taking actions to ensure that we create a campus that is safe, just and worthy of the trust that has been placed in us."

Defendants named in the lawsuit include former athletic director Joe Alleva and six current athletic department officials: executive deputy athletic director Verge Ausberry; senior associate athletic director Miriam Segar; women's tennis coaches Julia and Mike Sell; football recruiting director Sharon Lewis; and assistant director of recruiting operations Keava Soil-Cormier. Also named are the LSU board of supervisors and former university president F. King Alexander, who last month resigned as president of Oregon State amid backlash from his role at LSU.

The lawsuit alleges that LSU, its athletic department and the Tiger Athletic Foundation "funded and implemented a purposefully deficient sexual misconduct and Title IX reporting scheme" separate from the university's official Title IX office to keep legitimate sexual assault claims within the athletic department.

"This scheme stymied LSU's overall Title IX reporting system, successfully insulated coaches and players within LSU's athletic programs from legitimate sexual assault claims, and allowed the programs to continue operating unhindered to reach levels of success the program wouldn't have reached otherwise," it states.

Because it is a class-action lawsuit, any others who allege they were hurt by a systemic failure by LSU to comply with Title IX from 2013 to the present can potentially join as plaintiffs.

According to USA Today, attorneys for the women said that could include thousands of current and former students.

"Until the priorities shift back to the mission of this university, the flagship school of Louisiana, to educate and support young people in their quest to better themselves, we will not stop the quest for change," Karen Truszkowski of Temperance Legal Group, lead counsel for the plaintiffs, said in a statement obtained by ESPN.

This is the second lawsuit filed this month against LSU and its leadership.

Lewis earlier filed a federal racketeering lawsuit accusing university officials of retaliating against her for reporting racist remarks and inappropriate sexual behavior by former coach Les Miles. The lawsuit also accuses LSU officials of working with a law firm to cover up allegations against Miles, including one that he engaged in "explicit sex acts" with a student. Miles and his attorney have denied any wrongdoing.

I'll admit I want that to be true because it fits so perfectly with her personality.

God she's such trash. She'll fit right in

Thank god Texas will not be scheduling any series with LSU in the future in WBB.

Vic is a gentleman and a good guy, but damn if you read between the lines, he HATES Mulkey - and not just because she was 3-0 against him this past year.  It is not the same amount of respect he has for someone like Dawn Staley, who owned his ass at MSU.

Fuck her and fuck LSU.  Fuck Baylor too.  She was trash

Hissy fits in game, throwing her jackets all over the place
She trash talked and winked at a Texas player on the court during a game in 2015 and then said grabbed her and something to her in the post-game handshake where the Texas player pushed Kim off her
What do you do when someone brings up the rape scandals? "Punch them in the face"
Forcing players to hide their sexuality because Baylor
She now has been bringing in freshman, locking them into Baylor and then immediately recruiting over them via the portal, hindering their development until they transfer.

Like this is what Baylor loved having represent their university?

I think she's literally the only female coach I truly loathe. God she's a piece of shit. If someone told me she lived in a trailer I wouldn't even question it. Such garbage.

Great coach, but just trash.  So yes, she fits in at LSU, but she also fit in at Baylor.

Their version of Surly is blaming the AD and Prez for being "too woke" and "liberal ideas" as to why they wouldn't give in to her wants and needs.  Most of them want both the Prez and AD to be fired for this.  And they think they can sway Geno to go to Waco.

So yeah, she fits in with both trash fanbases.

Tell me you're kidding about Geno. A guy who's won 10 NC's to take a step down to Baylor? K

Um, have you seen *our* coaching searches?  Luring Brad Stevens from the NBA or Mark Few from Gonzaga, lol.

Every fan base immediately picks a top-tier coach and says "we can get them!"

Baylor knows their place - they were nobodies before Kim and if the hire is wrong, will be nobodies again.  It's not like Texas, who was a power for all of the 80s and 90s under Jody, hired Gail Goestenkors (bad), came back under Aston (4 straight Sweet 16s and an Elite 8, top 5 recruits every season) who faded a bit, and then grabbed one of the top 5 coaches in the sport.

They want to capitalize on what Kim built NOW before someone else comes in and ruins it - they don't have a pre-Mulkey history to fall back on, like Texas.  They think Geno, at 67, would come in, keep it going for a bit, and then retire and hand it off to someone he trusts.  As if he's not just doing that now at UConn lol

She was assistant at LaTech (her alma mater) when they were actually a power in WBB. Their coach at the time retired and suggested Mulkey. The AD wasn’t impressed and lowballed her with a 1 year offer. She basically told him to fuck off and went to Baylor. So Baylor basically fell into an elite coach. LSU is basically her dream job

They actually offered her 4 years but she wouldn’t accept it because she wanted 5 guaranteed.

I think Few to Texas is a much smaller leap than Geno to Baylor.

In terms of shocking WBB head coaching moves that were P5 to P5:

Goestenkors Duke -> Texas
Mulkey Baylor -> LSU
Schaefer MSU -> Texas

When you frame Kim leaving under "going home," it doesn't look so strange, like when Vic came back to Texas.   Gail went Final Four, Final Four, Elite Eight, Elite Eight, NCAA Runner-Up, Sweet 16 at Duke before moving somewhere she had never coached or lived in her whole life to follow a legend.

Have no idea how she didn't do well here.

No Texas ties and didn’t do the outreach to the Texas alums who dominate the Texas AAU scene, especially Clarissa Davis. Really pissed of CD who had a lot of sway with recruits

I saw that Baylor hired Nicki Collen from the Atlanta Dream. I do not follow the WNBA enough to know how good of a hire this is for Baylor. I thought maybe some of y’all would know more about it.

She won coach of the year with the roster she inherited.

Then went like 14-51 the next 2 years. No Texas ties. Hasn’t been in the college recruiting game since 2015

Google says she's married with 3 kids. Spent some years following her husband around to coaching jobs (he's a bball coach too) and taking assistant jobs wherever he landed it looks like. Then WNBA? Wonder where the husband went during this phase or where he plays into her moving to Waco. Mulkey and her old man didn't last terribly long in Waco once she started wearing the pants.

Husband hasn't coached since he got fired from Arkansas, per his bio.

The big question for Collen will be if she is able to keep anyone from Kim's staff, like Bill Brock.  Messer is probably headed to Baton Rouge - she's had a spot open pending who Baylor picked.

Sounds like NLyssa Smith, Queen Egbo, Caitlin Bickle and Jaden Owens are staying to play for her.  Though they could just be giving her a chance - they have until July 1 to enter their names in the portal.

So just like her first season in Atlanta, she will do a respectable job with the talent she inherited - then most of it will graduate or transfer.

I don't expect either Brock or Messer to stay in Waco. It'd be great for the new gal if they did but I don't expect it.

EDIT: Haha, was browsing the local news and ran across a typical poorly written story but it did have this gem - "Waco native and La Vega alum Juicy Landrum was on Baylor’s 2019 national championship team, she knows the impact Coach Mulkey made on this community.

Mulkey has brought so much to Waco so much to Baylor, like before her - what was it?” said Landrum."

It was poop, Juicy. It was poop.

Messer is gone - Kim said yesterday at the Arkansas-LSU softball game Messer was coming.  There was a spot for her if she didn't get the Baylor HC job. Brock may retire - but personally, I hope Vic offers him a spot for our open Associate Head Coach / post coach and he can still be close to the grandkids (his son in law is the head WBB coach at Mary Hardin Baylor).

And Juicy is right - what was it?  Nothing. 168-257 under Pam Bowers, who was fired, re-hired and fired again.  Then 83-91 under Sonja Hogg.  0 NCAA tournaments pre-Mulkey.

That the problem with schools like Baylor, Tennessee, Stanford, UConn, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Texas Tech - these are schools built around legendary head coaches (Mulkey, Summit, Vanderveer, Geno, McGraw, Staley, Sharp) and not really schools with storied histories/success outside of those coaches.   Which is why Tennessee is on their second post-Pat head coach.   Or Tech, on their fourth coach post-Marsha.

LSU had success under Gunter, Chatman and Chancellor - each went to at least one Final Four and won an SEC championship.   Texas is sort of the same boat, except they did have good success post-Jody, just was stuck in a really strong 2000s Big 12 (Baylor/A&M/OU) and a tougher 2010s Big 12 (Baylor/WV/ISU).  Texas has still managed 3 Sweet 16s and 2 Elite 8s since Jody retired under 2 different coaches (but not *spit* Gail)
