Is the Perkins visit an OV or unofficial?

It's up in the air. He made it sound like Texas is pushing for it to be an OV, but there's a chance that it won't be, presumably because Perkins wants to use his OVs on places that are more difficult for him to get to

Gerry also says that he thinks this one will most likely be between A&M, Bama, and LSU

I've seen others say expect both Bear/Perkins back in the fall for a game.

The Under Armour Future 50 camp, which typically is guys in the next class, has a bunch of kids in the current class for an event tomorrow since last year's got canceled, and then will have the normally scheduled one again in the winter

Names that we're in on that are listed as attending

Brenen Thompson
Bryce Anderson
Harold Perkins (maybe he's skipping the event to visit Texas?)
Devon Campbell
Kelvin Banks
Maalik Murphy
Quin Ewers
Denver Harris
Armani Winfield
CJ Williams
Evan Stewart
Jordan Hudson

Here's to Maalik balling out, since he's been great in these settings in the past

Spoiler

Inside Texas has learned Beaumont West Brook defensive back Bryce Anderson will be making an unofficial visit to Texas on Monday and Tuesday.

The near 6-foot, 186-pound versatile defensive back made an OV to Texas A&M last weekend, and returned this week for an unofficial visit.

Following the two day unofficial visit to Texas, Anderson will make an OV to Alabama June 18-20 before concluding the visit process with an OV to Texas June 25-27.

Anderson still plans to announce a commitment July 4.

If his HS qualifies for state 7v7 this could be his last chance to get to Austin before he commits

This is twice now that the staff has convinced priority commits to visit immediately after a visit elsewhere. Good strategy, hope we see it continue.

He'd just move his OV to a midweek, or bump another school out of theirs, imo

Well well well, well, well.

This is not your average Old School dad weekend. There will be no time for Bed, Bath, and Beyond for the Texas staff.

OFFICIAL VISITORS (2022)

OG Cole Hutson, Frisco (Frisco, TX): After multiple trips to Austin over the last few months, this is a family that takes the recruiting process seriously. Sarkisian and Flood are making the four-star a priority, and with his versatility to play three offensive line spots, UT could easily position themselves strongly this weekend. He's still set to see OU (June 18th-20th) and Texas A&M (June 25th-27th), so we might not know the direction of these sweepstakes until the end of June. UT is in a good spot as of now.

OL Jacob Sexton, Deer Creek (Edmond, OK): Whatever UT is saying here is apparently resonating enough with the four-star's family that staying in-state to attend OU isn't a given. He just made an official visit to Alabama, and will see Oklahoma State later this month. Oklahoma and Texas A&M are also likely to receive OV’s with the Sooners considered the team to beat by many. His father is a Texas fan, tried and true.

DL Zac Swanson, Brophy Prep (Pheonix, AZ) - TEXAS: The UT pledge will get to see his home in the official capacity this weekend. Swanson already appears firm in his decision.

LB Sebastian Cheeks, Township (Evanston, IL): The four-star Chicago area linebacker enjoyed his North Carolina official last weekend. Now he's going to visit Texas, a school he's been fond of for years. Michigan and Notre Dame are still in the mix here.

LB Harold Perkins, Cy-Park (Cypress, TX): The state's top linebacker pushed back his official visit that was set for USC this weekend, which allows him to be Austin bound. The UT staff is recruiting Perkins nickel/hybrid in mind. He's already seen Texas A&M, and is slated to see TCU later next week. When Sarkisian and Banks are your primary recruiters, you're kind of a big deal. It will be decided today if this is an official or unofficial visit.

ATH Anthony Jones, Liberty (Las Vegas, NV): Fresh off a Miami official trip, the tight end/outside linebacker will visit another serious contender. He wants to play tight end, so we'll see how the staff sells the Vegas native. Banks and Kwiatkowski are holding down this pursuit, but beware of Oregon if the Ducks decide to recruit him as a tight end. Jones was committed to Washington at one point.

KEY UNOFFICIAL VISITORS (2022)

QB Tevin Carter, Pure (Memphis, TN): He's arriving on Saturday to workout at UT's elite camp. He recently made the Elite 11 and is starting to see his stock rise.

OL Kam Dewberry, Atascocita (Humble, TX): Getting the four-star on campus without using an official visit could be big, provided they turn it into an official visit down the road. Texas is slowly but surely chipping away at the monster from Humble. Dewberry made an OV to LSU last weekend, and is scheduled to make OV’s to Texas A&M June 18-20 and Ohio State June 25-27. Oklahoma will receive an OV during the season, and Alabama or Texas will receive the final OV during the season.

DL Hero Kanu, Santa Margarita Catholic (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA): The 6-foot-5, 293 pound defensive tackle is scheduled to be in Austin on Friday for an unofficial. He was at LSU on Thursday.

A NOTE ON JARAY BLEDSOE

The near 6-foot-4, 280-pounder currently has only one visit planned for June, and that is to Texas June 25-27. Texas defensive line coach Bo Davis continues to have a strong relationship with Bledsoe’s mother. That doesn’t mean Texas is in the driver’s seat, however. There will be a trip to Alabama at some point, and Texas A&M, Oklahoma and LSU are in pursuit. The reason for the lack of visits in June is Bledsoe is taking summer school classes to make sure he is on track with core credits, and to take some pressure off of his senior year. The other aspect of this recruitment that is now different is Bledsoe has enrolled at Marlin High again, where he was prior to Bremond. His summer school classes are at Marlin High.

Bryce Anderson's visit will actually be Monday and Tuesday, so he can watch the team work out.

To follow up Gerry also said this:

And for those wondering what happens if B-W-B qualifies this weekend for the 7v7 state tournament ... OV to Texas will be day after state 7v7 tournament.

The Texas OV is 100% happening.

Who’s our main competition for him?

Oregon, imo.

I think he's a guy that will get a lot more heat turned up on him once the very top guys get slotted.  This spring he's shown that he has very good lateral quickness for his size and is killing guys in a camp setting.

I’ve posted this like 5 times now. Stop getting your hopes up for dewberry. Dude just isn’t the UT type. Both he and his dad have mentioned it several times to those in passing.

Its not that big a deal really, while I would love to have him in the class, he’s slightly overrated and Banks is a better prospect.

Thank god it's just a gif. You know if it was a video she probably would have used some ap filters or something and added some garland or flowers, and probably animated the words "PUMPKIN SPICE Y'ALL" in there somewhere.
