His new insistence on throwing some version of “the partisan politics has to stop!” as he makes his 700th “BUT THE LIBS!” post in a row is truly theater of the absurd.

Uhhh huh... so anyway.....Tell me about Miss AOC, and her current outrage at the situation at the border with horrible over crowding (that's a taboo topic now that a democrat is in the oval office), Talk to me about Kamala Harris Calling Biden a racist on the debate stage, and now is his VP, and it's all cool.

The only thing Mr. Biden hasn't done is use the Obama playbook of crying over every issue, and calling it his inherited problem.  They have him pretty well scripted win the teleprompter scene.

I'm not gonna go back, and research democrat or republican games with gerrymandering, political machine shit (SEE: Chicago, et al). If you think the democrats are above political tricks, and outright illegal activities there's no need talking to you further about this.

This is suddenly the literal exact opposite of what you were originally claiming:

there are those here who can't fathom democrats ever playing games or fucking with the rules.

Look I realize you’re intentionally acting like a troll idiot now but I’ve got to tell you it’s just not working and I don’t know what you’re thinking you’re accomplishing here.

Now run along back to DT and tell everyone how big a meanies we all are to you.

What’s the name of the logical fallacy where you condescendingly argue against a constantly shifting cloud of self-conflicting positions that you falsely attribute to your opponent? If there isn’t a name, I vote for ménage a strawman .

This would make way more sense if the top plane said 'fuck niggers' and maybe throw in 'muh peepee room!'  And for those of us who are less literate, paint a tiny orange hand grabbing some vag - on the tail, of course.  Don't get me wrong, I like the concept, and what they did with the Dems plane but we sure as shit can't leave the R plane unmarked.

Needs "All lives matter" and something about a wedding cake to be more analogous, imo.  Not sure what we do with the "yes she can".  Maybe reach back to the archives and go with something by clayton williams.

I would vote for a sane version of the old Republican Party before it went bonkers in a heartbeat.   I don’t agree with the comments I see on here periodically that attribute the entirety of the conservative movement since 1960 as failed policies at all. I’m still a conservative, but I believe policy is a balancing act.

I think we needed the 1980s conservative policies in the 1980s, and that they worked for a long time overall.  Stagflation wasn’t so great for the working man, either.  Twenty years of massive economic growth actually was good for most everyone, even if the rich benefited most.  But I acknowledge lowering taxes and regulations isn’t always the answer in every climate (particularly, those climates where you’ve already been doing that for 40 years and it’s not the problem anymore).  Likewise, progressive policies are certainly needed at times to right some wrongs or bring things back into balance, but they’re not always the answer and sometimes people need to stop looking for a woke crusade if there really isn’t one that needs to be fought.

Having said that, the current Republican Party is a cult of personality to the most unworthy leader imaginable.  It’s not conservative - it’s not even an effective counterbalance to the progressive left if that’s what you want it to be.  It’s an irrational mob.  And more importantly, it’s contemptuous of the rule of law and upholding our country’s institutions.  It’s a far greater threat to the United States than the Democrats, even though I personally think the Democrats are about to make a mess of a lot of things.  But bad policy decisions don’t compare to rejecting truth, objective reality, and the rule of law in order to overthrow democracy and make a deranged narcissist our god-emperor.  And that’s the only real policy platform of the Republican Party at this point.

Honestly, I just hope it fizzles out when Trump dies at this point.  There probably isn’t any other solution.  And I’m quite certain ignoring the fact that the elephant in the room has gone batshit crazy from rabies just because I don’t much care for the libs isn’t a good solution.

Well said. Don't agree with everything, but it is based on reasoning and logic.

Trumpism is not conservatism.

Trumpism is not ideology or logic.

Trumpism is a personality cult

Is there any evidence Stefanik slept her way into political power?

If not, I don't favor that kind of invective used casually. The Lincoln Project presentation on how she doesn't support women is more effective. I guess I'd like to see easy sexual slurs go the same way as the racial ones. Have the decency to keep them to yourself or share them only with an audience that knows you well enough to recognize you're not serious.

I'll maintain that I don't think onboard is a troll. What I see is a GOP who won't become a Trumpist, but who also can't see that that's all his party has become. Onboard's positions all look founded in pre-Trumpian GOP delusion about the values they claim to have when addressing their voters but defy when in office.

Just the standard of "now that the Dems are doing something wicked that the GOPs set a new mark for means that the high and mighty Dems aren't anything special like they claim" harkens to Newt (prosecutes Jim Wright for selling books while he himself was selling books "authored" by his wife to the same end) and Rush (effeminate, do-gooder libs are actually enemies of the state looking to enslave you). All of this was a foundation for wanton disregard for the welfare of the republic in pursuit of greed and power and greed and power only.

"Them Dems want the greed and power, too!!!!!" True, but it's more of the quaint old version. A few crumbs make it to the little guy. The constituency actually demands actions that benefit the people instead of condemning all government action as deleterious by fucking definition.

"I don't belong to any organized pollitical party; I'm a Democrat." Will Rogers almost a hundred years ago. The Dem voters I mostly know have some sort of cause they believe in. The cause leads to policy. Policy can be debated honestly pro or con.

The GOPs abandoned conservatism with Reagan. They adopted social conservatism which means women shouldn't get to choose if they have abortions, The Ten Commandments need to be posted in schools and courthouses, and gun control (originally favored and involving the NRA, the GOPs and the Dems) is just an attempt to impose tyranny. The Death Tax? How many GOPs think it will affect them versus the true number it will impact? Gays getting married will destroy marriage? Where are the numbers or arguments?

I think the exodus of conservatives and persons with souls from the GOP stemmed from the realization that the GOP philosophy was a charade and the entire GOP appeal was based on the emotions of fear and hate.

Where do I think this leaves onboard? I think he's something of a deadender unwilling to admit he's been deceived. He holds onto the old sayings and positions that he still believes in without desiring to grasp that they have nothing to do with the GOP.

Onboard keeps lumping all of us together on this board as idealistic, self-deceiving Dems with our heads in the sand. In this he displays the supreme GOP trait: irony deafness.

Joining the democrat party is like being a bushel of crabs in a pot, on the stove top. It's a nice warm bath............ for a while. The incrementalism the party has been playing for a long time is reaching a boiling point.  There will be a battle in your party between the far left, and the folks in the middle who are just as likely to hold conservative views on taxation, gov't intrusion, etc.   That's a party I would like to join.

Let's tax everything, and give it all away to our voting base to keep getting their vote. Let's tax all the rich people more. You can only go to that well so often. Lets tax the corporations, they can afford it (and they can for a while).  Eventually (sooner rather than later) they'll raise prices to cover those lost revenue dollars.

I do not want an ever increasing gov't in my life or an ever growing federal gov't. The more we're taxed, the more they want.  I am a believer in capitalism, and the democrat party is moving toward more socialism.

Am I a troll ? no, but I am trolling the whole BS notion that you can lump all republicans, or democrats for that matter into nicely wrapped up stereotypes. yep.

Has the republican party abandoned fiscal responsibility ? yes on several fronts. Does the democrat party ever think taxes are too high  ? nope.
