The parents (or in most cases parent) love the shit out of their kids. But when they aren't around the street tends to raise them. There are a shit ton of problems with the inner city but to assume that most parents don't love their kids is a really bad take.

You make it sound like poverty is an uniquely American trait. it isn't.

Also, I didn't say that they don't love their kids. They just don't give a shit about their kid's education, but that might have something to do with their own upbringing. But pouring more money into this still isn't going to solve it.

Disarm liberals and their constituencies by any means necessary. Our homicide rate would look like Belgiums. That’s if you want something that would actually work.

Do you have a link to the report of black's who have killed someone with a gun and have also voted Democrat? That's what "constituencies" means, right?

If they love there kids so much they would move. There is no way in hell I would let my kids live in that shit hole.

What? Oh, socialism. Get it now.

Yeah, it's actually really impressive given our vast wealth how we are able to keep so many people in deep poverty.  Another example of the redoubtable American know-how, I suppose.

Quote
  • The youth poverty rate in the United States is the highest across the OECD with one quarter of youth living in poverty compared to less than 14% across the OECD.
  • The Stanford Center on Inequality and Poverty ranks the most well-off countries in terms of labor markets, poverty, safety net, wealth inequality, and economic mobility. The US comes in last of the top 10 most well-off countries, and 18th amongst the top 21.
  • In the OECD the US ranks 35th out of 37 in terms of poverty and inequality.
  • According to the World Income Inequality Database, the US has the highest Gini rate (measuring inequality) of all Western Countries
  • The Stanford Center on Poverty and Inequality characterizes the US as “a clear and constant outlier in the child poverty league”. US child poverty rates are the highest amongst the six richest countries – Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden and Norway.

Focusing on the nuclear family is the correct answer, but be prepared to get called a racist.

While we focus on the nuclear family, can we also focus on:

- Disproportionate arrests and incarceration

- Voter ID laws

- Racial gerrymandering

- Racially discriminatory hiring and promotion practices

- Racially segregated schools

- Racially discriminatory home financing

- Segregated neighborhoods

Deal?

I don’t mind focusing a small amount of time to those issues, but the primary goal needs to be maintaining the proper family structure.

Blaming gun violence on a breakdown of family structure is pretty lazy analysis. Where's the measurement of the breakdown? Where's the root cause analysis?

People who have never lived in these neighborhoods (including myself) have absolutely zero working knowledge of what the real situation even is. By the time we see such a low precision statistic like murder rates, we're looking at a proxy variable that's so far removed from the fullness of their reality that the most responsible course of action we can take is to refuse to draw conclusions altogether. At least without equipping ourselves with a deeper understanding.

Different cultures throughout the world vary greatly in their family structures. Do you even have any particular style of family structure in mind when you mention the "proper" kind of one?

Two parents, who don't abuse drugs and alcohol.  Or the kids.

What do you suggest?

Fair question and a very tough question to answer. Simply pointing to the data and explaining that black youth is in a perilous state hasn’t been very effective. Going after the deadbeat fathers often is counterproductive, in that it can result in the father being incarcerated. In a free society such as ours, the onus falls on the black community, which is where personal accountability comes into play.

Until that happens, I would implore these single mothers to take advantage of the state funded medical care programs to ease some of the financial burden. I would encourage after school activities that could keep the kids busy while these mothers need to work, which means less time on the streets. Also, I think it’s important for the mother’s to be honest with their children (at a reasonable age) about the family situation and explaining the necessity of the nuclear family.

This is really easy to say when the state has placed its thumb on the scale in your favor for centuries.

No, it’s a simple formula that has been proven to be effective. It’s up to them to make that decision and I hope they do.

It's a simple formula promulgated by a group of people for whom the state has placed its thumb on the scale in their favor.

That matters.

Pretty easy to say that on a message board. Pretty useless, too. Is your formula proven to be effective?

Your argument would only hold water if there were nothing that whites could do. There's a lot we can do. For instance, not throwing men who happen to be fathers in jail for circumstances that would not result in a white person being even prosecuted. Offering a career path free of biases that force blacks to do twice as much work for less pay just to prove they aren't "thugs."

But no, you get to armchair quarterback from a cozy, comfortable vantage point.

Well, the Asians and Jews are succeeding at it, better than white people in fact. They didn’t have this supposed scale you keep referencing, did they? At some point, accountability comes into play and you have to stop pointing fingers.

Yes, my formula has proven to be effective. Two parent households fare far better than one parent households, it’s a fact.

White people can help, and they do, but the reality is that we can not solve the disintegration of the black nuclear family, that responsibility lies within the black community.

Also, nothing about my life is cozy or has been easy, it’s a continuous struggle filled with countless challenges. Thankfully my parents exhibited an excellent work ethic, which was an integral part of my success. I wish for these children to experience the same.

if you don't think having a 2 parent household is integral to the success of their children that tells me you haven't been around any of those families at all.

Y'all don't get that aspect of what I'm saying.

You're leaping to the conclusion that single parent households are themselves a root cause, for which blame can consequently be attributed. It would be very hard to defend that conclusion because of the strong possibility that single parent households are themselves caused by something else.

You might have identified a substantial link in the most important chain that explains the high murder rate. You have to keep pulling on it to get to the source.

The high murder rate is attributed to gang violence. Who joins these gangs? And why do you suppose they join these gangs?

i hate to break this to you but your formula has proven to suck shit through a straw.  so your big conclusion is that kids from nondivorced families fare better than divorced ones, white kids fare better than black ones, rich kids fare better than poor ones, kids that watch pbs fare better than those watching real housewives, kids that eat cheerios for breakfast fare better than those that eat fruit loops.  big whup.  now that we've paid your consultants millions of dollars for that brilliant analysis, what do we do with all these divorced, poor, black, mushbrained, malnutritioned kids?  fucking deplorables is what they are.  we need more kids from sweden.

The formula works, I’m sorry if that’s inconvenient. There’s not much you can do with the individuals that have already moved passed adolescence and into adulthood, the best course of action is to stop the cycle with the next generation unfortunately.

No, I just see what they’re doing is working, so I’m going to try my best to emulate them. I know you have this ruling class theory, but we’re falling behind David.

The KKK only wishes they were as effective at inflicting that harm.

And no, I'm not rich. But I don't have to worry.

Guns should be banned. Fuck your murder toys.

People don't like it when they are confronted with the fact that they didn't earn many of the things they take for granted.

The NRA is a gun manufacturing lobby. They LOVE gun massacres. Hell, they provoke them. And probably plan them, if not outright execute them. It increases gun sales. In fact, bloody carnage is the ONLY thing which spikes gun sales. Other than Christmas.

Sandy Hook is Christmas morning for the NRA.

Chicago is black Friday, perpetrated every day. The NRA is all for urban murder. Look what they intentionally did to LA. Spread guns and drugs everywhere, so that it will spill over on TV, and spook the rural white racist into collecting an arsenal. The guns are now gun from Los Angeles. As are, to a huge extent, the gangs.

Fresh take.

Banning guns, comprehensively, does this.

Brace yourself. A bunch of white people who don't know any black people are going to tell you what's wrong with black people.
