Uh huh, k, sure. Those 850 accusers are just a bunch of assholes.

JFC. I’m not all that surprised that Harbaugh’s enough of an ignorant asshole for this to be his genuine response, which is bad enough.
But also how does no one from Michigan PR give him a canned response to the story, instead of letting him stay this publicly? Unreal.

Matches with a school and fanbase that gets driven more and more up their own butthole every time Ohio State and Michigan State beat them so they isolate themselves as some kind of Harvard-on-the-Huron that is being assailed on all sides because they're too ethically pure for this world.

And what did SMU get the death penalty for?

Exactly. SMU was among the more saintly actors out there. There wasn't a campus-wide rape culture like at Baylor, there wasn't a campus-wide gun culture like at OU, there wasn't a campus-wide drug culture like at...well various places. No Joe, no Bo, no Woodrow getting a woody about dead kids in Vietnam or punching players in the throat on national TV. No, SMU was executed because some guys decided to pay football players and acted like asses about it when questioned by the authorities. Fuck. How else are you supposed to explain to a kid that the lessons you learn playing college football are anything other than "whatever you do, don't get caught?"

And I'm not in any way suggesting that Michigan, or any other program, deserves/deserved the death penalty. But holy shit, each one of these stories actually makes the NCAA look worse and worse for doing that compared to other things that were happening right under their noses. That decision did not age well...at all.

I bet Woody Hayes and Bob Knight are not nice people, either.  Who would have thought guys who behave like angry, volatile tyrants while coaching amateur sports were actually just assholes and not well-meaning mentors of young men?

That's how much of an asshole he was. 34 years of death, and still isn't nice.

Life long michigan fan here. I grew up being taken to games and tailgating. My uncle raised me on old ten year war videos. Bo was a god to him and I. With that being said I collect memorabilia and as far as my michigan stuff is concerned I had a michigan mini helmet signed by bo before he died. It’s like the holy grail michigan auto. After news of this broke a few weeks ago (have been waiting to see if it would get more national coverage) I immediately sold the helmet. I got $300 for it which was $100 less then what others were asking. I feel sick about the fact I was going to use that money for something like a guitar or what ever so I’m going to donate it to a fund for sexually abused people. This story has completely shaken me and is on the verge of breaking me from being a michigan fan. I didn’t go there but love the campus and all the surrounding areas. How could a man that claims to have stood for so much integrity do this? Burn it down burn it all fucking down! Statues buildings all of it. Not rename BURN IT DOWN! Also all that failed to report this and knew need to be locked up forever. If they are not I’m done. I’m not sure that there is a right way this can be handled to make me return to the fandom I once had for this university it’s administration or anyone involved. Sorry if this didn’t make sense but I’m just fucking sick right now and this university has been such a big part of my life I don’t even know what to say

I wonder how much that helmet would have been worth had you gotten him to sign it after he died?

So Longhorn fans aren’t comparing Texas to Michigan anymore? Because that’s been a popular attitude in this community. I recall back on Shaggy when you all issued a “fatwa” against ORD_Buckeye, a popular poster, for saying on a Buckeye board that they’re not equivalent academic institutions. When users ran out of neg rep to give they went to a protected subforum to get recharged by a mod so they could dish out more. I’ve never seen anything like it. I know he can be kind of full of himself but he still had millions in rep when he finally said, “Fuck it.”

I just watched the press conference. There was a panel of seven. Matt Schembechler, two former players, each one’s lawyer and another guy running things who I assume was also a lawyer. The players said that it was common knowledge in the locker room and players made jokes about getting “Andersized.” They also talked about how, culturally, it wasn’t something you could talk about publicly back then and adults would just tell them to toughen up.

The reporters brought up Harbaugh’s comments several times. One player did say Harbaugh’s comments motivated him to come forward. Matt Schembechler had nothing but positive things to say about the entire Harbaugh family. There was no consensus on whether they thought Jim Harbaugh knew what was going on.

They said Bo hated injuries and looked down on players who didn’t play through pain. He didn’t want them seeing the doctor. And it was expressed that knowing about the allegations against Anderson gave him leverage if Anderson said a player couldn’t play. Oh yes he can! It’s just a sad state of affairs.

Also, apparently the press conference was sponsored by Aquafina because every member of the panel had a bottle sitting behind their name plate with the label pointing forward in clear view.

well, Harbaugh does like to spend the night at high school recruits' houses.

SEC CountryJim Harbaugh is either trying to revolutionize the “in-home visit” in college football recruiting, or he’s just not a big fan of Marriott Rewards points.

Harbaugh is planning to sleep over at a recruit’s house for the second time, according to Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider. This time it is Connor Murphy, a 6-foot-7, 250-pound defensive end from Brophy College Prep in Phoenix, Ariz.

Murphy is the No. 16 weakside defensive end in the nation, and the No. 5 player in the state of Arizona. He’s also an Alabama target who named the Crimson Tide among his five finalists eight days ago.

This won’t be Harbaugh’s first sleepover during this recruiting cycle. He spent the night with Quinn Nordin, the nation’s No. 1 kicker and a Penn State commit on Jan. 14.

This is so disturbing.  I don't understand how anyone can cover for anyone who abuses a child, especially sexually.  But your own son?  Your boy?  It's beyond incomprehensible.

There is a very interesting but disturbing podcast called Hunting Warhead. It is about a journalist & ethical hacker trying to find the guy who runs the largest child porn site on the dark web. They explained the hierarchy of importance in this fucked-up world, and no one is at a higher tier than the sickos who allow their own kids to be abused. Bo was likely one of these guys. No one defends a child molester who is not a child molester themselves.

Sexual predators are skilled at deception. I think a lot of people just can’t believe that a doctor could or would do such a thing so they probably have extra cover. I don’t know. Sometimes I wonder if there’s a more chilling truth and that a lot more people have experienced it than we’re aware of and just figure it’s a fact of life so just suck it up and deal with it. That’s a scary thought. Joe Paterno grew up Catholic in Brooklyn so I’ve always wondered about what he might have experienced or heard about during his childhood.

That's occured to me, too.  Maybe it's easier for a victim of abuse to rationalize covering up another abuse later because to them it's just something we never, ever speak of.  Like their own defense mechanism makes them powerless to stop it in any other case since they were powerless in their own?  Or maybe that's letting them off too easily?  I don't know.  But it definitely perpetuates the fucked up cycle.

It's just heartbreaking.  How is this the world we live in?

Oh yeah I think I was responsible for that. Didn't really intend for him to get fatwa'd but oh well.

what I don't  understand is why would you want a injured player to play? I mean if he is really hurt and a doctor says he shouldn't play then how is he going to be reliable on the field. It is a shitty reason to look the other way. I am not ready to say he is a molester and that is why he protected the doc but he definitely had a different reaction than most fathers when his son told him about it.

And in regards to neg repping ORD, they were not recharged by a mod but by other posters giving them pos rep in that thread. No mods were involved in recharging, iirc. Ord bailed on the board on hos own because those assholes that were pissed at him weren't gonna beat out the rest who liked him. He was a good poster.

Yeah, on that deal if the mods had wanted to be cunts and get involved they could have just stripped him of most of his rep and let the wolves finish him off.

Yes there's been shitloads of that in the past, a lot of Ohio St to OU as Texas is to Michigan.  Sup bro?

Anyways, it wasn't true then, and now it sure as shit isn't true.  Yikes

Just horrific. Burn it to the ground. Like others have said, it still enrages me that Penn State never received the death penalty and these other mentioned schools received slaps on the wrist. It’s probably a question for another thread, but if you don’t give programs that participate in pedophilia and other sexual abuses the death penalty, what is the point of even having the death penalty?

I’ve mentioned it before but the posters in this community are a lot more similar to Michigan State fans. I joined tRCMB shortly before they moved from being an independent site to part of the 24/7sports network and then they went through a software “upgrade” that turned that network to shit. (And they also gobbled up the Scout.com network where I was active for a long time.)

I originally joined Shaggy to help a guy find a good restaurant in Columbus and I was successful in doing so. It was a legit Japanese place called Kihachi and sadly that chef retired a few years ago and they shut down. But Shaggy had more traffic than tRCMB and offered a better place to waste my time making sarcastic jokes. The shaggy interface was more user-friendly than Surly but this probably isn’t the place to get into that.

I am not trying to gaslight you. I just don't recall a thread that was dedicated to blasting ORD alone, or a mod joining in on the fatwa. There  was a single thread where posters would go to bitch about posters and get others to both pos rep them and neg rep whoever they were bitching about. TOS rep worked by allowing those with a certain amount of rep score to able to rep someone until they ran out. The higher the score, the more you could rep and I think it was even more weighted at one point. So they would go to that thread and rep each other to build up the ability to keep repping. Mods didn't have to recharge anyone.

Yes, you saw people bitching about him because he said some condescending shit on our site first and then someone found him talking shit about us on a buckeye board. He essentially said he thought we were losers. That was mean after acting like he thought we were good peeps on our site. So some tried to flush him out but HE is the one that jumped ship on his own after a double finger salute. Which was too bad because he started the Shit I cooked lately thread and was a good contributor.
