What the fuck is a magacoin?

What is the value of a magacoin? (this should be good)

What can a magacoin buy? (this should even be better)

Trump-loving Republicans snatch up 'magacoins' -- and quickly fall victim to data breach

More than 1,000 people -- including Republican leaders and conservative media personalities -- have already signed up for the pro-Donald Trump cryptocurrency magacoin.

Poor security on a website associated with the cryptocurrency exposed users' personal information, including passwords and IP addresses, and revealed that the vast majority of the magacoin produced has gone to its self-described creator Marc Zelinka, a Trump-loving consultant, and a Super PAC associated with him, reported The Guardian.

A self-described hacktivist shared the website's data with the newspaper, showing that most users have only 100 magacoins, but at least some of them have taken advantage of an offer of 1,000 free magacoins to certain radio hosts, media personalities, bloggers and grassroots groups who agree to promote the cryptocurrency.

Right-wing talk radio host John Rush holds 1,500 magacoins, according to the leaked data, and hosted Zelinka, whose Colorado-based used car company Carmart Inc. applied for a trademark for the currency and administers a Facebook page for it.

Zelinka, however, insists he no longer controls magacoin and had handed off the cryptocurrency project to pro-Trump political operative Reilly O'Neal, who appears to control Super PACs funded in part by the cryptocurrency intended to support "MAGA candidates" around the country.

A 10-million magacoin gift from an email address associated with O'Neal's political consulting firm Tidewater Strategies was made to the Magacoin Victory Fund that appears to be controlled by the North Carolina-based GOP operative, while another 2 million magacoins came from an account that appears to be controlled by Zelinka.

O'Neal has worked on the losing campaign for accused pedophile judge Roy Moore, and he reportedly has a stake in the right-wing conspiracy website Big League Politics.

His Tidewater Strategies was paid by pro-Trump Republican candidates in the last election cycle, but most of them lost.

Do I buy my Freedom Phone with Magacoin?

that's actually a good question.

Freedom Phone. Freedom against the government, never mind that they can just ask the cell provider for all of the owners location, call logs, and packet information, but not freedom from Chinese hackers.

I guess this is like the digital version of the Franklin Mint scamming old people for coins years ago.

They never stopped. Found this among many examples on their site-- the "coins" are worthless plated brass, but hey, there's a nice box, and probably a nice Certificate of... Something along with it.

just notice the stores at the top of their banner.

pier 1, steinmart, radioshack, etc.

that alone should trigger the bullshit meter on the "value" of those coins

The concept of crypto/blockchain has some interesting applications. the crypto currency/NFT markets are an absolute scam. This country is full of stupid fucking people waiting to get fleeced. I'm actually surprised there aren't 30+ flavors of maga-coins.

When people stop trading their hard earned USD for imaginary bullshit, the trend may reverse. But until that time, there's a lot of easy money to be made. I need to figure out how this NFT shit works. If I could sell NFTs for digital moments when Ivanka let her milk wagons fly, I could make millions from Donald alone.

The NFT shit works the same way a casino works-- a few people who get into it win big, so thousands more flock in, and do not win as much as they put in. The sites "minting" the NFTs get steady income just like the casinos who let Doris sit there and roll away her Social Security check. Sure maybe Doris hits a hot streak. She then makes noise. The losers stay silent.

The casinos at least give you the chance to catch a Wayne Newton tribute show.

I don't know that the magacoins even use blockchain. That would take way too much un-needed effort for a proudly un-educated customer base.

I thinks it's John Calhoun, similar crazy look.

Look at the fine print-- they promise to pay 100 Dollars 6 months after a peace treaty. In other words, it's an IOU for (gold-backed) dollars. Confederacy doesn't even have to totally win, just make it through a peace treaty with some resumption in normal trade and access to hard money.

So even by the time of Appomattox, this thing had some value-- I've heard 1/70th of face value-- because nobody knew what sort of deal might get cut. Unionist areas of Confederate states would have been stuck holding CSA money, maybe they thought they'd get some kind of bailout.

I inherited my great-uncle's stamp collection in the 1980s...He'd stopped adding to it in the 1920s, when he was still a little kid...And he'd inherited some of our family's last Confederate currency. He'd just tucked some bills in between some pages and closed the book and there it sat for 60 years.

Almost immediately on exposure to light and Houston humidity it crumbled into dust, and so went what was left of my family's pre-war fortune...

Fuuuccckkkkk @Lobo how did we miss out on this, and the name is perfect.

I should be embarrassed none of us thought of this while I was dicking around with my Presidential Library Exploratory Committee grift.  But I've been feeling like Oleanna Tyrell for the last two years.  I just have to come to terms with the fact that I lack imagination when it comes to these people.  I simply do not have the cognitive nimbleness to understand that they are capable of so much stupidity and greed, even at their own peril.

This kinda shit just never occurred to me.  And I'm the "Yeah, But..." guy in real life, it's what I do for a living.  I de-risk shit, that's all I do.  I think of the ways in which people can fuck us and our investors over, and I solve for it.  But I never saw something like this coming and now it makes perfect sense.  MAQA nation will buy these with the tacit belief that once he is back in office, the value will skyrocket.
