Fun fact: you can be really critical of a performance and still be in the team's corner.

it is also permissible to declare Parcells at any time

right now we are 3-9 until we're not

there are 8 games that are not wins until they are

we've been cashing future checks for 11 years before the funds were in the account

let's see the cashflow before we write the checks

that is not being negative, and also doesn't prevent being in the team's corner

We were as shitty as Aggy with Card starting, yes. We are not as shitty as Aggy with Casey starting, no. Shaggy has a tendency to overreact wildly to each game. We won game one. "Oh we are so great! Sark is the man for us!". Got run over by Piggie. Same posters. "Oh no we made a mistake with our coaching hire. They have no clue what they are doing!". Let the shit play out and wash the sand out of your vaginas.

You are fucking beating.

"It took them a few games". We played 2. Rice and Tech, two team perfect to run OZ against. We are big and physical enough to block IZ. You also obviously don't know what happens when you run OZ vs an athletic front 7. I will continue to watch you ride this rollercoaster of emotions you always do.

Does OU's front 7 count as atheltic?

If you told us that Herman would take the flaming garbage can of a program Charlie Strong “built” and turn it into an above average but falling short of expectations program, well you were spot on my guy.

Look beating Tech isn’t exactly a sure fire indicator for the rest of the season but 70 points is 70 points - especially when the rest of the league has looked like it has.  When’s the last time we put up 70 on anyone let alone a conference opponent.

It might have been even worse because had KJ not gone down they win going away. Now that you know Pig is better than you thought, and that we aren't as bad as everyone feared, how does everyone feel going forward?

The performance against Arkansas was complete ass and nothing that has happened makes it less of an embarrassment. The team should absolutely still be embarrassed and angry about it and should be so forever.

If they continue to use it to improve then good.

Coaches seem to be using it that way. "Yeah it feels great to beat tech by 5 TDs, but remember how you got all nonchalant after Louisiana, thinkin y'all's assholes didn't stink, and got absolutely obliterated by a mediocre Arkansas team? How 'bout we go fix these issues we saw in that blowout loss before you start thinking y'all are good?"

I get that, but it's the way we beat Rice and Tech that is very different.

Wasn't it the 10-4 Herman year that Texas didn't have a play longer than 50 yards all season?

Robinson - 6.2

Johnson - 8.2

Robinson - 7.6

Brooks - 6.9

Texas hasn't had this type of production and efficiency from the running game since 2005.

Like most of your posts, this one was fucking stupid. But not for the usual reason, this one is dumb mostly because after TCU you will (correctly) point out that they're a shitty team.

Strong had his issues we all know that. My defense of Strong was in reference to firing him in favor of an unproven guy who was bringing a low scoring offense to the big12. At the time the whole board was raving about the idea we would offer Herman, and I was totally against it. But typical Surly we forget the whole premise of the argument and only cherry pick the defense of Strong. People even accused me of defending him because he was Black. There were jokes about how dumb he was, and people were raving about Herman being Mensa. But here we are in 2021 and I was dead right about Herman. He turned out to be absolute trash, but no one ever came to get their plate of crow. Now as trash as Herman was imagine him without Ehlinger. Imagine him with Swoopes and Shane. Herman turned out to be no better just with a better QB. We wasted millions for no reason.

There was no reason to ever defend Charlie Strong. As bad as Tom Herman was, he was light centuries better than Charlie Strong.

Charlie Strong deserves very bit of criticism, derision, and ridicule heaped upon him. He’s THE WORST FB HC HIRE in Texas history by a VAST margin.

Strong fucking sucked as a HC at Texas. Losing to THAT Kansas team?  No further issue needed to fire or ridicule him.

Herman couldn’t beat TCU with a Sr QB, a new OC, and a New DC, and furthermore recruiting was tanking. No further issues need to fire or ridicule him.

Herman lucked into a good QB at both stops as a head coach. Ehlinger was the difference in wins between the two coaches. Those two wins per season or so that we gained over Strong can be attributed to 11. Otherwise, those two coaches are the same guy.

That’s dumb and you should feel dumb for posting it.

Strong never had a winning season at Texas. In 3 season at Texas, Strong lost by 18 or more points 10 times at Texas, (5 times in 2014 alone. 4 times in season 2015.  1 in 2016), worse than 1 in every 4 games coached by Charlie Strong, Texas had the doors fucking blown off.

Herman never had a losing season at Texas. He only lost 1 game IN 4 SEASONS by 17 or more. Tom Herman never lost to Kansas.

Tom Herman, may fuck be upon him for losing consistently to TCU, was vastly better than Charlie Strong.

Players win games not coaches. We had shitastic QB play during Strong's tenure. If VY played for Strong what would his record be? Why was Strong winning at Louisville? Could it be the dude that currently has the Denver Broncos 3-0 was the reason? How many games you think Saban would lose if we swapped out Mac Jones for Tyrone Swoopes? I swear you guys make football way harder than it is. Ed Orgeron won a natty with Joe Burrow. Gene Chizick won a natty with Cam Newton.

No it’s just because you are often delusional. Nick Saban has won a national title with how many different QBs? A list that includes Greg McElroy and Jacob Coker. Mac Jones was a 3 star that was developed, not a 5 star can’t miss. Joe Burrow was a poor mans Sam Ehlinger the year before Joe Brady arrived. Ed Orgeron had nothing to do with that team ascending. By your argument no coach should ever get credit and it doesn’t matter who we hire.

Using Alabama in any argument regarding swapping a QB out is one of the dumbest arguments you could ever make because they’ve done it for over a decade now with about as wide a range of QBs you could possibly do it with.

Charlie Strong was successful because in 2012 he went 11-2 in an 8 team Big East conference in which 4 of the 7 other members had losing records. The next year he didn’t play a single ranked team.

Charie Strong went 16-21 in 3 years and managed to go 5-7, lose to Kansas, while having a 2,000 yard rusher and 2,500 yard passer. You’d think a defensive coordinator would find a way to beat Kansas and make a bowl game with a dominant running game.

Herman went 32-18 in 4 years and left the roster that we currently have for a competent offensive mind like Sark to actually have something to work with. Herman on his worst day at Texas was light years ahead of Charlie Strong. Nothing will beat that stupid, deer in the headlights look he had al game long. Freshman Sam gave little indication that he was every going to bring Texas back other than he was a die hard Longhorn and had some moxie and leadership ability. Herman and company did a solid job developing him, Herman was just incompetent with his meritocracy approach in practice that he guys like Keontay Ingram playing over Bijan.

Yes, in 2004, a competent HC had recruited good players to Texas and had them in position to win a game.

In 2016, an utterly incompetent Texas HC lost to a Kansas team who had lost 19 straight Big Xii games.

They’re football coaches they don’t need to be saints.  Infidelity is not illegal so who the fuck cares.

Now if they we’re to busy thinking about pussy or getting caught instead of multitasking and putting in a bad ass game plan.  Then by all means give them hell about infidelity.  But you could easily lump it in with whatever distraction that might decrease their on job performance.  Alcohol, drugs, video game addiction, fucking laziness or whatever it else.

Charlie Strong's Louisville team beat Florida in the Sugar bowl. they were a good team. They also routed Miami the next year too in that bowl game.

To sit here and pretend like QBs and players don't matter is ridiculous. LSU was loaded for years and the only time they broke through just so happens to be the only times they had competent QB play. Some of that time was with Saban there. If you remember we ran them over in a bowl game with Marcus Randall. The very next year they had Matt Mauck and they win the title.

The 04 team losing to that KU team would've been worse than the 16 team's loss. But it doesn't fit the narrative you are pushing, so carry on. The point is we didn't lose because of VY. Ehlinger won us quite a few games with sheer hero ball as well. Without that we are dropping a couple more games per year under Herman.

Pretty sure we had 6 turnovers including the 2,000 yard rusher fumble after the game clinching winner.

Defense gave up 0 points thru 3 quarters.

Strong did hire Trsylor. Herman did not.

This is why Texas struggles with football. Fans and big money donors influence the program far too often. We offered a guy who had little coaching experience a job without waiting long enough to see if his flash in the pan success was his or was it due to the previous regime. He hadn't recruited anyone. He had 1.5 season as a HC before we were talking to him. It was a panic hire and now we are paying for it. Hopefully Sark can win enough games to allow recruits to believe he will be around long enough to sign with us. Because right now the negative recruiting is killing us, and it all could've been avoided. I am done with this conversation. You guys keep yelling the sky is falling every time a game doesn't go the way you like. Maybe we can fire yet another coach after 3 or 4 years.

You are wondering through the argument just rambling and putting words in my mouth. You said there was no difference between Charlie Strong and Tom Herman which is just total bull shit. Nick Saban lost to ULM his first year at Alabama. Even the best lose head scratchers and have close calls against inferior competition. The '04 team losing to Kansas being worse than the '16 team is in the eye of the beholder because that Kansas program wasn't near the doormat it is now. One major difference is the '04 team didn't lose and went on to win the Rose Bowl. The '16 team went 5-7.

Sam lost us a few games playing sheer hero ball because that was the Herman offense. Put the ball in the QBs hands and ride him until he physically breaks down. Charlie Strong beat Will Muschamp (aka the White Charlie Strong) lets make that clear. Not that impressive.

QBs and players do matter... What kind of statement is that? Who would say otherwise. YOU are framing it as if coaches don't matter and all that matters is a generational QB with no context whatsoever. Alabama has won a national title with tall white PPs (Jacob Coker and Mac Jones) and DTs (Jalen Hurts and Tua). Joe Burrow was average in 2018, nobody would have taken him over Sam Ehlinger. Then Joe Brady came in and turned Joe Burrow and LSU's offense into an elite juggernaut, yet you stated as if Ed Orgeron just recruited this one year rental generational QB.

Herman ended up not being a great hire, I don't think anybody disagrees, I do however think you are in a camp of 1 with your take that Charlie Strong and Tom Herman were no different.

My next door neighbors son was a walk-on WR at Texas during the Charlie Strong years, you want to hear what he had to say? Who gives a fuck, schools negative recruit and say all kinds of shit about each other. I don't see much damage at all, I see a lot of talent and we have a HC that swallowed his pride and switched QBs and we look like a totally different team with Casey, a team that could potentially win the conference, we'll have to wait and see.

Texas is 11th in 247 team talent currently on the roster. Florida is barely ahead of us at 7th and just lost to Alabama by 2, they have had 3 coaches in the last 7 years. Maybe you are the one that can't see the forest for the trees?
