5 out of fucking 9 Arent even FBS schools.

The only FCS school we have scheduled in the past 20 years is SHSU in 2007 or so, right? And that was because another team backed out and we had to find an emergency replacement

these fuckers have played 10 fcs teams in the last 7 years and have 5 more scheduled for the 5 seasons between 2021 and 2025

Thatll make 16 fcs teams scheduled during their first 13 years in the SEC

10... 10 fucking fcs games in the last 7 years. Not a single season where they didnt play a fcs team since entering the SEC.

what a buncha fucking pussies

Secrant posters beginning to like a round-robin schedule, and disliking not playing a team only every 6-8 years:
"quote:
No one in the SEC would stop A&M either if they decided to go back where they belong. You could take Misery with you too.

Been there, done that. Take it from us, the Big 12 sucks big hairy donkey balls compared to the SEC. Everyone wanting to copy that shitheap of a conference needs to take a big damn step back and reassess."
"Getting to play every team in your conference every season would be fricking awesome, and the conference championship game being the two best in the conference would be far better than seeing some JV squad from the East get waxed every year. Would love to drop Aggy, Mizzou, Carolina, and MSU and start a round robin schedule.
Playing every team in your league every year is much tougher than you think. You don't get to avoid anybody. Be careful what you wish for."

It Just Means More......crappy non-conference scheduling? Lousy SEC Championship games? Looks like the bumpkins finally figured it out.

if we ever got to a point where conference alignment was driven by what fans like instead of maximizing footprints, and if we ever get out of a postseason qualification mode that encourages scheduling to maximize the chance of going literally undefeated, this is exactly how conferences would work

Our schedule in 1990 was far, far superior to anything we've played in the last fifteen years. Practically nobody wants an out of conference schedule today of Oklahoma, Penn State, and what was then a national-championship level Colorado program, plus a conference slate made up of jihadist programs, but that was a hell of a lot more interesting than playing one meaningful non-conference game, one meaningful conference game, and then a schedule where Baylor or West Virginia is the highlight. Baylor should never be one of the high points of our schedule.

The thing is though, this isn't a Big 12 problem. Every conference is like this now, because they're too large, the regular season is too long, and losing two games knocks you out of the only meaningful post-season that exists.

Realign to 8-10 team conferences. Each conference champion gets a bid to the CFP + 4 at large births. Play 11 games, 2 OOC and round robin conference. Playoffs start the 2nd week of December. Top 2 seeds get a 1st round bye. Other 1st and 2nd round games are hosted at the higher seeds home field.

Also end all bowl affiliations with conferences.

8-team conferences. 7 conference games, 3 OOC games, expand the playoffs. If schools want to create permanent first round playoff sames against the same conferences (effectively replicating 2-division/16 team conference structure), so be it. Have a P5 national championship, a G5 national championship, and a FCS national championship.

"My ring flew off into the snowy abyss"?! THAT is what aggys refer to as a "snowy abyss."?

Their "snowy abyss" is right up there with their "Hall of Champions."

Some of the dumbest people on the planet.

this is basically it, you can tweak it if need be but this is the essence of how CFB should logically be organized

it's not a logical sport so there are loads of other factors, but this is organizationally the best way to do it

I've really come to like the idea of the conferences aligning to play regular post-CCG playoff first round games. Maybe that wouldn't be ideal because of the potential for seeding mismatches (e.g., an undefeated Texas playing a three-loss Utah in round 1 if the Big 12 and Pac-12 were aligned that way), but I still like it more than being in some huge Pac-18 conference.

and on topic, fuck the A&M Aggies

Our friendly aggys have a little surprise headed their way. Think of it as their Christmas present. I dare say, this one may well be the best one yet.

On a somewhat related tangent, the aggys claim their yell leader "tradition" originated in 1907. https://yell.tamu.edu/ While there is ample reason to believe the aggys (yet again) simply fabricated the origins of this "tradition," for the moment we will accept their claim of their yell leader "tradition" originating in 1907.

I found out yesterday that the UT yell leader tradition originated in 1899.  It seems, once college yells became popular at sports events in the 1890s, there was quite naturally a need for some students to coordinate - or lead - the yells with the fans in the stands, and hence the term "yell leaders." Starting around 1900, most college and universities had yell leaders. They generally wore white outfits to be easily seen on the field, used hand signals because there wasn't yet a PA system, and were all male, as back then it was considered very unladylike for a co-ed to shout at a football game, much less be a yell leader.

So, whenever the aggy yell leader "tradition" actually originated, it is highly probably the branch college rednecks were simply copying something that big brother (and many, many other schools) had been doing for a number of years. Just as with calling one's fans the team's "12th Man," the actual origins of yell leaders wearing white had nothing to do with the idiots enrolled at Texas A&M. (In the listing of UT yell leaders below, from the program printed for the first reunion of Texas lettermen, Hubert Jones may have been the original John Blutarski. Six years in a row without having graduated? Well done, Hubert. I raise my glass to you.)

Stay tuned for aggy's 2019 Christmas surprise. The wait will be worth it.

The round robin is awesome. The rematch of the two best teams is dumb as shit. There should be more smaller conferences that play round robins and the winners get thrown into a playoff. But that makes too much goddamned sense.

The perfect number of teams for a conference is 9.  4 home and away games every year.  10 and 8 are a problem because of the uneven home/away schedules from year to year.  Plus, 9 gives you 4 OOC games so you can play your one tune up/body bag game and 3 hopefully competitive games against teams from other parts of the country.  14 team conferences are an abomination.

Those gomers will never get over their butts hurting. They won the conference once in 15 years, what does that say about their football program? It's hilarious they mock the conference, but they were never competitive in it.

This was brought up recently on Texags by one of the few with critical thinking skills. He was assured the Big 12 was a really really good conference until ‘11.  Then it went to shit immediately.

I was just reading an article about alabama and their facilities.

Did you know this?

Alabama has a place called the Hall of Champions. I wonder where aggy came up with their new facility name?

Also....if anybody wants to have some fun trolling, you can add pictures and everything here: https://www.google.com/search?q=hall+of+champions&oq=hall+of+champions&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l3.5168j0j4&client=ms-android-verizon&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#istate=lrl:iv&lkt=LocalPoiReviews&rlimm=17648337520842647217

Assuming they lose to LSU and Auburn loses to Bama, A&M will wind up tied for third in the SEC West, or in a three-way tie for fifth in the SEC.

They finished third in the SEC West the year Johnny Football and company beat Bama and finished 11-2.

IOW, they are performing at their all time high.
