Former Texas WR Joshua Moore reveals his transfer location

Quote

The Texas Tech Red Raiders got some good news on the day they found out that Erik Ezukanma would be heading to the NFL draft. Former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Joshua Moore announced that he would be heading to Lubbock, Texas, to play for new head coach Joey McGuire.

Moore entered the transfer portal after an alleged argument with head coach Steve Sarkisian. After the game against Iowa State, Moore put his name in the portal which came as no surprise. The Longhorns will face off against Moore when Big 12 play opens on Sept. 24 at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock.

Moore now joins an offense led by Zach Kittley, who returned to Tech after Sonny Cumbie left for the Louisiana Tech head coaching position.

This past season Moore caught 24 passes for 265 yards and three touchdowns in 2021. In 2020, Moore was the leading receiver with nine touchdown receptions. In the Texas Tech Air Raid offense, he will have ample opportunity to shine in this pass-heavy attack. Jerreth Sterns led the nation with 150 receptions, 1,902 yards, and 17 touchdowns in this offense in 2021.

This might be the best possible spot for the former four-star recruit.

Per Inside Texas...  Thx for this @Big Woodrows

The real work will be in assimilating the early enrollees from high school.

Here are those players: S Bryan Allen, Jr., DL Jaray Bledsoe, RB Jaydon Blue, DB X’Avion Brice, CB Terrance Brooks, DL Aaron Bryant, EDGE Justice Finkley, CB Jaylon Guilbeau, OL Cole Hutson, and QB Maalik Murphy

Based on this tweet alone, I choose to believe TO will be a significant part of our offense next season.

Man I hope. I've been waiting to see him finally get healthy enough to contribute. He's a size freak mismatch and can catch, but will he ever be healthy?

I also think Bryan Allen Jr is gonna be a fucking player.

I look at TO the same as I do Whittington. If they are healthy, great!! But not holding out on that.

I can only hope. But I can’t understand why anybody would be a believer of words and no actions on social media. If it was truth then the nfl draft would need 45 rounds.

Supposedly 2021 signee (but apparently never enrolled) Jordan Thomas is headed in?

Thx for this @Getafix

Sources: Texas DL Jordon Thomas returning to program this spring

Quote

The Longhorns are looking for answers on the defensive line, and they should get a boost this spring from a member of the 2021 class.

According to multiple sources close to the situation, Jordon Thomas will return to the program this spring after stepping away from football during the fall. The 2021 signee from Port Arthur Memorial was expected to play a part in the defensive line picture during his freshman year, but he chose not to participate in order to deal with some personal issues.

Thomas was a four-star prospect who chose Texas over offers from Baylor, Houston, SMU and LSU.

247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Gabe Brooks compares Thomas to former four-star recruit Isaiah Chambers and describes his game in the following way.

“Possesses good height and plus frame with an athletic build. Should own requisite frame space to continue to bulk up moving forward. Current size and growth potential suggest strong-side end or possible move to even-front interior role. Could also fit three-man schemes in multiple spots, depending on physical development. Shows good strength in the phone booth. Capable of packing a jarring punch at first contact. Drives blockers into backfield vs. the run and as bull-rusher. Missed junior season with an ankle injury. Quite raw from a technical standpoint. Can improve get-off consistency. Must expand pass-rushing arsenal. Sometimes stands up at the snap. High-major defensive line prospect with potential position and scheme versatility who could become multi-year starter with long-term NFL Draft ceiling.”

At 6-foot-3, 240 pounds, Thomas was ranked as the No. 38 defensive lineman in the nation and No. 46 overall prospect in Texas, according to 247Sports Composite.

I could be wrong here or late but why does Burton keep bringing up moving Jett Bush moving to LB???   why is he even being brought up as a contributor?? Imo he shouldn’t touch the field. . I mean am I wrong??

Special Teams, and maybe depth for LB is all that makes sense to me for Jett...

So half are freshmen and sophomores and the other half are juniors and seniors? Seems like a unique situation.

half will be juniors and seniors and half will be sophomores.  And then we add about 30 freshmen, so we will be 2/3 underclassmen.

Larry Turner-Gooden signed (Mission Hills CA) at the East West game and while he's listed as safety, he said, "I'll play anywhere they need me, special teams, secondary, receiver."  (quote is from memory from this afternoon so sue me if I was slightly off.)

Actually LTG signed early signing period in Dec 2021.

Just announced today at All-American Bowl and is an early enrollee.

I didn't think you could sign during the gap between the early and regular signing day, so I was confused.  But it was definitely not disclosed.

He should be backup pass rush specialist and special teams. Oghoufo’s backup in that role.

Ford, Blackwell, Gbenda

Blackwell needs more weight, but he moved well enough to play Star last year. Maybe DMo can learn, but I'm not holding my breath. Maybe Richardson shows why they brought him in. Either way, Brock shouldn't play anywhere other than scout team, there is no upside to having him out there.

I have to believe those other guys are just lost for him to be the guy there.

Maybe if Johnson is an early enrollee he can come in with a blank slate and learn the position fast enough, or a transfer?

I’m curious here. Ford had more game experience coming into this year. Why is it assumed he’s got more development in him? Why Gbenda?

I’d also presume a walk on does a lot of jacking around and not getting legit LBer reps in practice. So again Ford.

Now another thing I’m curious about. It was mentioned earlier this year that Brockermeyer clocked the fastest LBer speed. Independent of that I head Sark say they track player movements. Some device they wear.

Based on the games, I’d think Ford and Gbenda are quicker, but I’m not certain on the faster aspect.

room to pick up some guys after spring ball?

Maybe...

If the right players become available earlier at LB and WR, it sure would be nice to have them this spring.

BTW - Players report back next week (Jan 17th) for off-season workouts

Yeah Lewis may end up as a gray shirt or blue shirt.

Plus talk now on transfer thread is that 36 or more additions if Sark works the numbers.

So if Campbell signed, Roster adds count now is 30.

Texas welcomes 2022 early enrollees to campus

The Longhorns have welcomed to campus the group of signees from the 2022 recruiting cycle who will officially begin their Texas college experience this week with the start of classes for the spring semester.

Texas football saw 12 signees make the move to the Forty Acres over the weekend as the early enrollees prepare to start the offseason conditioning program leading up to spring practice.

"It's good to be here," four-star QB signee Maalik Murphy said upon settling in to his new home. "I'm excited. It's been a long time coming. I'm finally a student athlete at the University of Texas."

Murphy was one of the 12 early enrollees who made the move to Austin, Texas over the weekend. The group of spring enrollees makes up of two transfers — former Ohio State quarterback Quinn Ewers and cornerback Ryan Watts — and 10 signees from the high school ranks, including four-star cornerback Terrance Brooks, four-star safety Bryan Allen Jr., four-star defensive lineman Jaray Bledsoe, four-star defensive lineman Justice Finkley, four-star cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau, four-star quarterback Maalik Murphy, four-star running back Jaydon Blue, four-star safety Larry Turner-Gooden, four-star offensive lineman Cole Hutson and four-star defensive lineman Aaron Bryant.

"I’m too excited," Ohio State transfer Watts said in the above video. "I’ve been ready. I’ve been ready for the past week to get started. We’re going to build something great over here and it’s going to be a nice journey."

The 12 early enrollees will soon begin winter conditioning under the direction of Texas director of football performance Torre Becton and his strength and conditioning staff, and will spend the next two months getting their bodies ready for the start of spring practice, which is expected to kick off in late March

Thanks for this great news @Fud

BOOM. Per GH

"Per a source extremely close to On3 Consensus 4-star DL Jaray Bledsoe, he has been cleared by the NCAA and admitted to Texas. Bledsoe has moved into his dorm in Austin, and will begin working out with the team immediately.

The Longhorns staff continued to fight and work on this one when it looked less than 50-50 a week ago."
