Now that you're an old fat ass, are you more agreeable to the idea?

No.  Because I’m not that old and I’m not a fatass.   I just hate when athletes have to start a game/match at 10PM local.  It sucks

I don’t see FIFA sabotaging the host of the next World Cup.

2002 refereeing for South Korea was the most obscene that I’ve ever seen.

2018 doping for Russia was on the USPS Blue Train level. Russia had 35 & Over players sprinting around the field for 70+ minutes like teenagers on crack.

2022 I only think that Qatar will get home cooking, but there doesn’t appear to be any other nations worth propping up or keeping down. (Of course, I don’t know of bribes to FIFA executives or the random match official from some country with little-to-No World Cup experience. (USMNT vs Slovenia phantom Offside foul.)

saints/rams level of fix

just egregious and naked in it's pornographic splendour

Well, if you want to be all serious and all, they are playing in the equivalent of Vegas.  They'll be acclimated.  This isn't like Rutgers flying to USC on Sat morning for a Saturday 7:30 game.

we kicked their asses in 1776 and 1812, we'll kick their asses once again !!!!!

Are the French going to let us have mbappe and grietzman to deploy up front?

cmon France, be cool. They can wear red, white, and blue- it’ll just say USA on the front and altidore and Dempsey on the back.

It still throws your internal clock off a bit.

Meatball (McGinn) gonna wreck us.

I know you're kidding but Scotland doesn't worry me at all (at least vs other teams we could have drawn) and historically gives England fits. It would be a bit of a dream draw.

Not that I think they're getting through Wales and ze Ukraine.

Anybody got a link to the Wales/Scotland/Ukraine play-in matches (2)?  Obviously I understand why there are delays because we still have to cheer for 10,000 more dead Russians (a good start)...but what's the slate look like for them three over 2 matches?

The two teams I was hoping to avoid and we got the pair. Argentina and Poland.

Could be a blessing in disguise. El Tri needs an overhaul. Couple of group stage losses could hurry that process along.

The US certainly has a good opportunity to make it through to the knockout stages with that draw

30, south american soil, advanced

34, european soil, obliterated

50, south american soil, 3-way tie for 2nd in group, did not advance

90, european soil, obliterated

94, us soil, advanced

98, european soil, obliterated

02, asian soil, advanced, advanced

06 european soil, obliterated

10, african soil, advanced

14, south american soil, advanced

no matter the draw, as long as we are not playing on eurosoil we find a way to get out of group

it may be ugly, it may be pretty, sometimes we flatter to deceive, others we're value for much more, but one thing we have set a pattern to is advancing when not in europe

advancing is the minimum expectation

winning our 2nd knockout all-time is the goal

winning 2 in a row clean (in 90) is pushing the envelope

advancing twice is icing

advancing thrice (group/16/qf) to the semis is homerun

winning it all is a grand slam

From what I can gather, there will be four time slots for the group games, being 5am, 8am, 11am & 2pm (all central).  The last of the group games (this is unclear from what I read) and all of the knockout games will be in 2 time slots, 10am and 2pm.  The final will be at 7am.  Could be a lot worse.
I posted earlier it's going to be a 4am central time for those early games. We observe daylight savings, Qatar doesn't.

When does that permanent DST go into effect?  Typically we wouldn't on it in late November/December.  But I keep reading conflicting reports of when we're making the macro switch.  Otherwise, it's the 5am deal for the 'early' matches.

With all due respect to international football, 'the Beautiful Game'...if you're gonna bring up Dock Ellis.  Remember the three most remarkable pitching feats in MLB history:

A man on LSD who didn't even know he was pitching that day when he woke up, threw a complete game-Dock Ellis

A man entered the game to pitch after a leadoff walk, baserunner gets thrown out stealing second.  Man goes on to record that out and 26 more, but is never credited with a no hitter because he only pitched to 26 outs, not 27.  He eventually receives credit as being part of a 2-pitcher no-hitter despite retiring everybody he faced, including the inherited runner.  The reason he inherited a runner?  The starting pitcher walked the leadoff man, but was angry at the ump's calls, punched the ump repeatedly in the head, and was ejected from the game by police.  The starting pitcher?  Babe Ruth.  The man who effectively threw a no-hitter lost to time-Ernie Shore

A man shitfaced drunk, got struck by lightning on the pitchers mound, recovered, and threw a complete game-Ray Caldwell

I'm excited for the World Cup, but never forget the stories of Dock Ellis, Ernie Shore, and Ray Caldwell.  There is another world past this one...

Like the draw and the Thanksgiving week games. Do not like the potential conflict of USA/Eng and Texas/Baylor.

fox will have to use their OTA for the world cup by contract, so they can either fs1 us or move back to a later time

and there is no reason they couldn't do that, like a 5pm kick

Anybody going?

I’ve been to the last 3 (that the US qualified for) and I’m eyeing a potential return.  BUT, flights & lodging look to be 5x the $ it was in prior tournaments and 2x as complicated, which is saying something.

I went to Doha once a few years back as a stopover flying back from Bangalore. I actually had a great time.

this will be the easiest mundial to attend in history.  25x the scheduled air capacity over South Africa, 10x scheduled air capacity over Brazil.  But demand will be very low - europeans will not be able to take a holiday in november, and i will believe they suspend sharia (women's dress, alchohol) when i see it during the tournament which by that time will be too late to get the whole thing sorted.  i also have serious doubts about their ability to house a million tourists, and they will put desalination technology to the test.

if you are in your teens or twenties, go for it.   good luck, we're all counting on you.

So no Surly tailgate at Ali Stadium then?

Also, I read somewhere that the Ukraine/Scotland playoff would be June 13 or 14th, with winner against Wales on the 30th?  Is that right?
