As a political cartoon...Hmmmm.

So, if you don't have a fetishistic knowledge of fire arm nomenclature you can't have a supportable objection to automatic rifles?

Basic working knowledge would suffice.  This post is case in point.

Would basic working knowledge be something like: You can alter some weapons with relative ease so that they can spray military rounds into a crowd of people killing and wounding dozens in just a moment?

The joke above is mildly funny in the way that 220 221 whatever it takes is. As political comment, it's just a sneer from fetishists.

I mean, I guess if by alter you mean devise a system to move your finger really fast you have a point.

I literally have no idea what the Addams family one is even saying. I get hunters hand in the cookie jar. I get the whistleblower is unknown.  Everyone else is just a drawing of a someone in character of the show.

It's a commentary on the social mores of the day or its a zeitgeist or maybe it's just gossamer.

There are certainly nuts on the left, they just don't get elected, especially to statewide/national offices. That's the big difference you idiots are missing.

Sort of the right's supposed disdain for movie stars. They hate Hollywood but elect actors and singers to office. Fred Thompson almost parlayed a TV gig as the NYC District Attorney into a presidential nomination. He was hoping to follow the footsteps of Ronald Reagan.

Or the joke that is donald trump running as a Democrat multiple times and then winning his first primary as a republican. This motherfucker was literally the leader of the birther movement, the absolute definition of a nut, and republican voters trampled each other to be able to vote for him.

This.

There are Trumps on the left.  But the Democrats don't 1) nominate them for president, 2) overwhelmingly vote for them in the general election, and 3) then turn into a slavish cult that calls any party member who dares not swear fealty to him "human scum."

So, yeah, the parties are just the same.

Are you serious?  He got his JD from Vanderbilt in the 60s, and was the one who asked the question “Mr. Butterfield, were you aware of the existence of any listening devices in the Oval Office of the President?” during the Watergate hearings.

He didn't start acting until the mid-80s when he was in his 40s.

And you think that's why he was a potential candidate? His political appeal was surely rooted in his time on screen not as an attorney.

Also, the Butterfield question was set up before the hearing. Not saying Thompson wasn't a smart guy, but it's not like he brilliantly guessed about the taping system.
