isn't andrew yang neither of those things?

i can't remember if asian-american counts as white or not.  where are we with that?

Meh he’s a millionaire

Asians typically get lumped in with whites - definitely feels like it has to do with social-economic status and education

At this point there's no denying that Joe Biden is going to be the nominee. The House keeps delaying the articles of impeachment and this trial will probably last as long as the Clinton impeachment. It's a real possibility that Bernie and Warren will be in DC for the trial and miss the first 4 states. How much faith are those 2 willing to put into their street team? Will those efforts be enough to surpass Joe and whatever Bloomberg and Pete have ready for the campaign trail? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

This is CLEARLY the corporate Dem whore machine trying to take down the two most progressive candidates and the Warren crew cannot help but take every fucking piece of bait that goes into the water.

Warren's allies leaking this obvious bullshit non-story to CNN.

A Warren-embedded reporter interviewing Liz on camera about a dubiously-sourced document from a Slack channel with Liz responding that Bernie himself is telling people to "trash" her.

Jesus Christ, Warren needs to stop fucking playing into this shit. Her political instincts are just fucking abysmal.

Those Bernie Bros that Liz folks hate so much? Those are your strongest fucking allies. Those are the ones who WANT you to take on Wall Street. They're the ones who want you to get M4A and every other structural change you're calling for. The Bloomberg/Biden set will tell you to sit down and eat a pile of dogshit.

Bernie people are fundraising over this. People who have never volunteered before are signing up over this.

It's so god damned stupid. What a wasted campaign.

Seems like you’re the one taking the bait.

Kinda of messed up, but the "model minorities" of Asian and South Asian/Indians who still face discrimination, aren't completely accepted as "real minorities/POC's". They are the bisexuals of the GLBT movement.

This isn't even gotcha, it is lower than that. Gotcha journalism is about the target saying or doing something and then misrepresenting it.

There are no quotes or actions from Bernie here at all to even try to misrepresent.

Did Bernie not say to Warren that a woman can't win?

That's an honest question--I'm just figuring out what your take is.

No, of course he didn't. That's absurd.

- He denies it
- Warren doesn't claim it
- There are no actual quotes from the 2nd/3rd-hand sources
- It doesn't fit with his 40+ years of established philosophical and political views

I have no doubt that he said something about America's sexism being a massive hurdle and something Warren might not be able to clear. It's something basically everyone has said or thought. But the idea that he was just like, "Look, honey, no dames are ever gonna be in the White House, it's for the FELLAS!" is not something anyone who is operating on good faith believes.

Aren't those two things a difference of tone and not of substance?

Here's an ongoing problem--candidates shouldn't act like pundits.  Every time they do--whether it be Romney's 47% comment or Hillary's "bag of deplorables" comment or this--it bites them in the ass.  Run your campaign.  Leave the punditry to pundits and campaign strategy to the strategists.

And yeah, for the record--this is a trap into which I see Joe Biden constantly falling.

Why must everything these days feel like an episode of Real Housewives?

We now suffer through granular coverage of everything from sports to movies/tv to technology to this long-ass, trending towards farcical presidential horse race. In the end, the focus always drifts towards the train-wreck quality relationship that inevitably pops up.

We need to cut out the transitional period and just make "Ass" the number one movie and elect the most Dwayne Camacho fuck head we can find.

Ass wasn’t nominated for best picture because it was directed by a woman.

Tone would be more like the feeling of the speaker when saying, "Women can't win in America". They could rueful about it, excited about it, demeaning about it, etc...

Now, the presentation by CNN is ALL about tone. Look at the way it's presented here and the women's reactions...

Also, not conspiracy theorizing, but...

i think it has as much to do with cnn trying to gin up ratings for tomorrow's debate.

It was a private meeting between Bernie and Liz and no one else was there.

How do you know?  Were you there? I wouldn’t go into that meeting without a note taker or witness on either side.  It just seems like confirmation bias to make any assumptions with this story which is rather petty anyway.
