Do you understand how Twitter works? I don’t follow these people. It gets retweeted by others and shows up in my feed.

Yes, you follow people specifically because they go out hunting for things that piss you off that you would never see otherwise and don't mean anything at all. That's my point.

It's all fine, of course, I love to see shit that pisses me off or makes me laugh.

But the fake advice shit is passive-aggressive (and therefore pathetic and embarrassing) and wanting others to police Twitter users (they need to come curb this behavior from other people) is equally pathetic and embarrassing.

A woman with 7k followers said something snarky. It has no connection to anything anywhere or any voter anywhere. It's demons howling in your head; demons you put there on purpose.

If you want to rant about the woman, fine, post her Tweet, say, "She's stupid and sucks and here's why", but drop the passive-aggressive bullshit and just acknowledge that you're in the fucking mud with the rest of us.

I don't give "advice" and I don't demand to speak to managers. I just mock, laugh, and jeer. I'm not deluded about what I'm doing.

Bernie’s plan actually doesn’t eliminate student loan debt for everyone. Liberal arts degrees from private schools get full forgiveness, stem degrees get nothing.

I heard that you get a refundable tax credit if you get an abortion while studying ancient tribal genders

Seems cool.

You may want to log off Twitter, a surrogate for Pete (Steve McElroy) said he wanted to muzzle Nina Turner and then later is now claiming he was hacked which is completely BS and I haven't seen you talking about this divisiveness.

I posted about this in the Pete thread.

You will notice some things conspicuously missing:
- I don't concern-troll about what Pete should do in response if he wants to win me over
- I don't claim that I'm a literal abuse victim personally for seeing it (I've been gaslit!)
- I don't demand that other people come in and police him

That's an actual racist and sexist thing from a guy very closely aligned with Pete's campaign. (So much so that they reached out to him to tell him to take it down.)

And my response?

"lol"

They don't let as many people go to college. About the top 30% of Germans get to go to college.  It's not free university for everyone as a human right.  It's culling the herd and then making it free (although a number of German states are reinstituting tuition fees) for the top performers in their equivalent of high school.  Virtually all the European nations have much more thorough standardized testing regimes than we do that determine where (and whether) someone can go to university.

My wife is from Europe.  We visit every year.  For the life of me, I have no idea why you people think there is such a thing as a free lunch in Europe or that things work there the way Bernie Sanders says things should work here.

Lol at all this talk and then literally not mentioning how strong labor rights are in Germany dude, it's almost as if people can earn a decent living without a college education in Germany. That is not the country I would pick to draw a comparison to.

No one is deluded about your behavior. I just think you’re a dickhole. In fact your utter lack of self awareness, despite your claims to the contrary, is the only thing about your posts here that make me laugh.

You’d be A++++ reality television.

The actual context of the Castro shit...

A word of advice for those new to the Bernie train*:

Before you freak out when someone accuses Bernie of something or shows you a partial quote, be patient. 99 times out of 100, all you need is the actual context of the quote to explain whatever it is that you found bothersome or worrying. Basically, do your research before jumping to conclusions and it's not a bad idea to trust (but verify!) Bernie. If a quote looks like it's really stupid or bad, read the whole thing (usually a lot is being hidden for a reason, as it was here) before feeling the need to respond.

If you're confused, ask a fellow Bro. We're here to help. And we're always holding.

* - If you're not on the Bernie train I'm not talking to you. I'm not trying to convince you to come over. Not every song is about you.

You are getting upset by an account with 7000 followers as if a bunch of Bernie people in Texas, or Bernie himself, is going to start shitting on Beto because they think that messaging will work. It's amazing how much any random tweet supposedly signals how unlikely Bernie is to coalesce while I've shared Tweets of Bernie Supporting Women who were called c*nts and it fell on deaf ears. You may want to log off Twitter, a surrogate for Pete (Steve McElroy) said he wanted to muzzle Nina Turner and then later is now claiming he was hacked which is completely BS and I haven't seen you talking about this divisiveness.

According to her bio she's a journalist for Jacobin and Current Affairs.

So, may taxes are going up to pay for your student loans?  That's an outstanding campaign idea.  Better yet, you're going to raise taxes on some factory worker who never went to college to pay for someone else's student loans.

Bern's entire platform is DOA even with a Democratic Congress.

This is neither here nor there, but depending upon where you went to school, some factory worker in the past paid for a part of the cost of your higher education. At state schools all across the country, taxpayer dollars went towards colleges (undergraduate) and universities (undergrad/grad) as states doled out $$ to subsidize the cost. That portion has shrunk over the years and tuition deregulation has increased the cost, so indirectly, our ancestors paid and now we pay the continuing cost of post secondary education.

Ignoring the selection of majors (hot topic), you might say that once a family has its first college graduate, the benefit of that investment can be paid forward. But it would be difficult to do so if the student was saddled with debt. That is the conundrum, and once for profit universities figured out they could turn what was once considered a public benefit towards equipping promising citizens for a robust economic creative future into a financial gold mine, it went sour for many Americans.

It's time for a reset and a frank discussion about higher education, well actually, all education in America.

You are correct though, marketing how to pay for loan forgiveness will be key because the talking points otherwise will probably fall along the lines you state.

Of course you don't concern-troll about Pete. You've just been shitposting about him for for the last year or so.

Also that guy is not closely aligned with Pete's campaign. He's actually so meaningless that they publicly reached out and told him to take it down.

Do you not have anything to say about what I just posted about a Pete surrogate? If posts online are supposedly fair game as to what we should treat as being divisive then you going to have to own up to your own campaigns problems.

I don't care about some socialist writer on Jacobin. I agree that I don't think it's helpful at all but I also don't think it's going to matter one way or another. I also don't think Steve's comments about Nina Turner affected people deciding whether they should vote for Pete.

Hits close to home. Teardrop.

Would one contribute more to a society let alone their family as let’s say an aerospace engineer or throwing some boxes in a warehouse playing cards in between?

The person is literally a paid surrogate who then said he was hacked. I could argue that he has a lot more influence than a writer for a socialist magazine who only has 7000 followers and isn't on Bernie's staff. Are you seriously trying to make this argument about which posts matter?

You may be right that he's not a paid person but he edited his Twitter profile to remove a reference to Pete. He previously held political positions in West Virginia, so he's not a random Twitter person I just picked out. I also don't care about this Jacobin writer either, she can fuck off, I just want you to realize that you posting tweets of people with virtually no following isn't indicative of anything.

Oh, I’m a total asshole - just not in the way you are.

My assholery is generally a byproduct of four years of genuine anger and fear. I feel passionately that this country is on a path of annihilation and those feelings can make me act like a dick to people who don’t see that.

I don’t like reacting that way and it usually makes me feel bad.

Your assholery seems to be your motivation. That you continually take pride in it says a lot.

Acting like an asshole =/= Asshole for the fun of it

If he was meaningless to the campaign, why did they contact him to take it down? That's upside-down logic. If he didn't matter to them, they wouldn't care.

Also, they did not approach him publicly to tell him to take it down. His husband made the private request public and he himself lied and said he was hacked.

The campaigns are full of posters. Embrace it.

the merit of a tweet shouldn't be based on following, it should be based on how hard it slams pete.

Like I said either this is fair game or it isn't. He literally came out in the last debate to say he disavows all this shit, if you're going to keep posting these random tweets from people who have almost no base then I'm going to find my own to show.

His tweet was in poor taste and amplified on Twitter by Bernie people. And Pete's team responded appropriately . I follow Rodericka, which is the only reason why I even knew about it.

and then there's the officious prick brigade, with b_t as the banner carrier.

exactly.

if supporters of you are being shitty to other people online, you're not responsible for them.  also, there's a pretty good chance that they're only pretending to be for you on the internet, because there's no way to know.  or also they may be russian bots.  or possibly even a figment of your imagination.

the important thing to remember when people are being shitty online to other people, is that there are also people you know personally who have people being mean to them, and that's what we should really be focusing on right now.

They are not "random tweets" when posted by actual journalists from legitimate progressive outlets. These aren't Bernie bots that just troll replies with 50 followers. They are people that will actually become even more influential if/when Bernie becomes President.

You are seriously suggesting a person at a socialist magazine that is much farther to the left of Bernie, a magazine where there is no evidence that they have any influence over Bernie's campaign is going to suddenly be elevated and influential after he wins?

Just own up and say that people are mean on Twitter, I would by that argument a lot more than you trying to link Jacobin that has no real influence on anything to Bernie.

Positivity and persuasion? Are you a child?

You guys lash out like angry children and you expect others to help you cradle you, rub your shoulders, and sing you a nice little song while you calm down?

If you guys want a good faith conversation that's great, but that's not what is happening here.

If you want to fight, that's also fine, but don't throw punches then fucking cry when they come flying back.

I guess we're at the point where we shouldn't take any journalism seriously? If MSNBC is full of establishment hacks (they are), can we not criticize hacks on the left as well?
