2020 Democratic Nominee

I'm not sure why people are gnashing their teeth.  Bernie isn't going to put 50% of the public at ease and Biden isn't going to instill confidence.

If Beto kept his hands more still, was a veteran, loved guns, and could calmly explain MFA he'd be the best candidate.

If young people don't get Bernie, they are going to find someone else to rally around.

It's not ideal, but if an entire generation stays home thinking that "they're all the same" well then it'll be their fault when Trump installs himself as president for life and a supermajority in both houses and a trumpkin loaded supreme court allows it to happen. Vote your conscious in the primaries, that's what their for, and how you are heard. The liberal youth are going to take control eventually. But we are faced currently with an orange threat unlike anything else in modern American history. Keep pressing a more liberal agenda. Respect the will of the democratic voters whatever that is and kick the combover baboon from office. The "lesser of two evils" is still less evil, and what we are facing is truly evil that needs to be defeated.

The moderates are the reason Donald is in office right now.

I'm on your fucking side you moron. I am in support of the liberal wing and my vote today reflects that. I think calling oneself a "moderate democrat" is dumb, especially when paired with an attempt to "sway moderate republicans" because that will never happen. I think "moderate democrats" will hit a rapid decline in the next 4 years. But today they still exist and are rallying behind Biden. I'm not a fan, but if he wins the primaries, then the people will have spoken. I'll happily vote for Biden if that's the chose. Hell, I fucking despite Mike Bloomberg, and would still gladly vote for him if he were the candidate. Because we are facing a truly evil regime right now that must be expelled at any cost. If you truly think Biden is "the same" as Trump, your brain is literally not firing correctly.

Since when did Texas start having separate lines for R's and D's. My brother at UT said he didn't have to do that. Is it just a DFW thing?

Dem was longer by the way. R's are losing their grip on Collin County.

Well there's another reason the GOP lines are shorter, the top of the ticket is decided and everyone knows it.

It's not about what I think, I'm old as hell. You're talking about what the kids need to do. That's not how this works, the kids don't care what we think.

If we want them, we have to go to them, not scold them or shame them into coming our way.

I agree, which is why I encourage everyone to vote their conscious in the primary. It will send a message where the future of the party lies. I don't agree with any rhetoric to vote Biden in the primary because he is "a moderate who can beat Trump." I truly hope that neither Biden nor Bloomberg are the nominee. But to act like Biden is equivalent to Trump is absurd and dangerous and that is what you and others are spewing right now. Promote your candidate, let the primaries play out. Let's regroup when the nomination is in. Whoever it is, vote them into office. The future is going to be more liberal. It is inevitable.

i mean... how about someone closer to their age? 🤔 that's always seemed odd.

Not odd at all. Young people see the hypocrisy that most of us have learned to accept as a fact of life. As a result they tend to be more idealistic and are more attracted to established ideologues and it takes a lot of time to earn bonafides as that kind of person. Bernie's years of dedication to his beliefs that they share are what makes him so attractive.

True true good point the stock market definitely prefers Bernie.  Solid argument.  Well thought out.

Perhaps the stock twits understand railing on socialism when the asset bubble was created with socialism/communism may depress appetite for another bailout of the .01% if this market crashes.

Medicare for All v. Bailing out the banks (again)?

Or neither?

Welcome to Thunderdome.

I think you should sit this one out.  You've got enough true material to pitch a solid case for Bernie, no need to show your ass by spouting nonsense like this.

I'm making meatloaf and mashed potatoes for dinner tonight. I don't care whether it's the election results or the coronavirus that kills me first, but I'm going to make sure we're fed before we go.

Very on brand Mrs Whiggins.

The primary shouldn't be about who you actually like, but about being against who pisses you off the most.  That's a much better way to vote.

On the ballot, enter the 3 candidates you hate the most.  At the end, the candidate with the lowest vote count wins.

Question for the Pod Save America followers. I caught their episode from yesterday. Have they lost all contact with Obama and his political moves or do they just pretend they don't know what is going on?

They just pretend they don't know what's going on.

It's extremely patronizing and annoying. I had to just delete the newest episode before listening. Even I, a human garbage can, can only put up with so much. I'll catch them on the next episode.

Here's what you need to know.

Barack Obama is going to endorse Joe Biden.

We eat from the melting pot of American culture but my spouse does like meatloaf--it's his mom's recipe. My thrill is the mashed potatoes. Loads of butter and cream. It makes me very thankful and one of the reasons we support our local food bank. I know others struggle to have enough to eat.

Can you spare a square?

It's more like a wedge really. And breaking bread with others is always a treat. Only caveat is you have to warn ahead of time if you're a *catsup denier. My youngest wants no catsup on the top so I keep a section catsup free before baking.

*catsup/ketchup whatever it takes.

Regardless, this is still going to be a long process, and now that Brazile told Ronna McDaniel to go to hell, I'm figuring there is still some fight in the DNC.

did you quote yourself or did you mean to use a different account?

Regardless, I was under the impression that Bern and Liz aren't super tight and might actually dislike each other a touch?

Liz needs to come  along for the ride with the Bern. It will be EPIC......

I don't think Obama cares enough about Joe to risk his reputation on something that isn't 100% assured. There's nothing more important to Obama than his legacy.

Here's what I think will happen if Bernie goes to Milwaukee with a plurality of delegates: Joe Biden will be the nominee and Barack Obama's support will be the reason why.

Just a hunch.

While many of my fellow Bernie Bros are on suicide watch* and a lot of new Biden Bros are coming to terms with who they hopped into bed with last night, everyone here needs to be rooting for record-breaking turnout. The horse race is fun and the team sports are fun and dunking and owning the libs and centrists and leftists is fun, but it's all horseshit if we don't have massive turnout.

Because Trump is going to get massive turnout.

Clench them cheeks, boys and girls.

* - Not Yours Truly, unfortunately for you, dear reader. I think way too highly of myself to rob the world of my magnificence.
