Pierce is also very close to Matt Fox the coach at EHS and he's for sure close with Kyle Chapman - which just happens to have a rising junior from EHS playing for them who is probably one of the top 10 rising juniors in the country (Tanner Witt).  But I suspect he gets drafted very high in two years and never darkens the door of a college.

Witt is an outstanding player. He does have strong Texas ties, but I agree that he most likely gets drafted very high in a couple of years.

his dad was a 1st round pick in 1994

His grandfather runs the Kyle Chapman program and is a Texas alum

Looks like Witt has already made an appearance in this thread.

Don't closely follow recruiting,  but saw the above links during a search for info on the upcoming season.     Prep Baseball is a respected site for review of high school talent.

The first link podcast is a review of the '19 Class for the B12.   Texas review starts at 14:19.   The second link is the home site for Prep Baseball.

They think it will be difficult to get Brett Baty on campus.

Sounds like Texas received a commitment from 2020 infielder Dylan Campbell. In addition to being first-team all-district shortstop at Strake Jesuit last season, he was first-team all-district running back in football too. From what I heard, he was the best hitter at the recent Area Codes tryouts in Dallas, and is a 6.7runner in the 60-yard dash. Short, quick, powerful swing and good athleticism.

Dylan also plays on the same summer team as Tanner Witt(Houston Kyle Chapman), Kyle Chapman and Episcopal High School have been very good to the Baseball Coaching staff. There are more in pipeline.

When Dylan and Tanner are on the field at the same time, Dylan either plays 2nd or 3rd, that is where I project him.

This is my latest video on Dylan while he was at the Area Code Tryouts;

What are your thoughts on him?

He is a two-sport star, running back and cornerback, at 5-11 and 190lbs, there is a lot of juice in his bats, he is more of a gap to gap hitter, but once he can focus full time on baseball the ceiling is unlimited for him.

He can play 2nd or 3rd, but when Tanner Witt is pitching for their summer team, Dylan will play shortstop.

Goes about his job in a very business-like manner.

The coaching staff was working late last  night as they pulled the #1 rank player from California, Matthew Porchas pulled the trigger last night, Porchas is the number 2 rank player in the nation for the class of 2022, he has a strong body and generates easy velocity, upper 80's fastball already from a lower release point, fast arm.

What are his draft prospects?

First round one would assume.

Upper 80’s fastball and lower arm slot might be a couple of factors that would diminish value with MLB.  But he will likely be drafted high enough to bypass college, unless he really wants to go to school.

Mlb went away from drafting hs guys early this year I think it's worth it to really go hard after the top guys. Hit rate is going to start going up if this trend continues

The kid is barely 16, 6'3" 195.  Throws an easy upper 80s.  That means low-effort delivery, likely he repeats that delivery consistently.  Throws an easy upper 80s at that age and  - as he puts on weight he will add velocity, likely quite a bit.  MLB won't give two shits if he's throwing from a low slot, that's a first round pick.

Did not realize that he was 16.  That velo will definitely go up in two years.
