He could have avoided it entirely. All he should have said to her was
Thank you.
If he'd kept his HSOs to himself and left it at thanks he might have been applauded. However, he had to tell her and everyone else that this is thanks under duress and in any other scenario he can't abide her.
So he and you are gonna get slammed.

I’d just like to point out that there are quite a few people in this thread claiming that playing mean and nasty on Twitter is the right thing to do, but for some reason are all upset about this one tweet.

The TDP does blast these people.  Sometimes 3 or 4 times a day.  But most of it never gets published or broadcast.    Maybe it's too much, too often like Chicken Little, or it could be how it's presented.  Press releases are fine, but we need more along the lines of Lincoln Project level stuff to reach out through social media platforms.

But yeah, TDP does release news and opinions often.   You can request to be added to the list using the email in the following press release:

BREAKING: Yet Another Texas Republican Elected Official Fled the State and Abandoned Texas in Our Greatest Time of Need

This Time, Indicted Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton Proved that He Once Again Doesn’t Give a Damn About the State of Texas

Austin, Texas -- Today, a bombshell report from the Dallas Morning News showed that Indicted Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton pulled a Ted Cruz and also abandoned the state of Texas during the crisis that hit our state last week.

More from the Dallas Morning News:

  • “Attorney General Ken Paxton left Texas for Utah during last week’s deep freeze to meet with his counterpart there.”

  • “Paxton’s campaign spokesman did not answer questions about when the attorney general left or returned. According to a spokesman for Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes, Paxton was in Utah by Wednesday afternoon because the two Republicans had a meeting that day.”

  • “On Wednesday morning, 2.7 million households were still without power, according to the state’s grid operator. By that evening, nearly 12 million people were experiencing disruptions in their water service due to frozen pipes and water treatment plants that went offline, according to the Texas Department on Environmental Quality.”

  • “He didn’t answer questions about whether Paxton’s wife, state Sen. Angela Paxton, went with him and whether Paxton paid for the trip out of his own pocket or used state money.”

  • “Paxton and Cruz were not the only office holders to leave the state during the deadly winter storm last week. State Rep. Gary Gates, R-Richmond, traveled to Florida on a private jet Wednesday.”

  • “At least 32 people died last week from hypothermia, carbon monoxide poisoning, fire and other storm-related causes, according to The Washington Post.”

On top of all of this, both Cruz and Paxton plan on leaving Texas again to go to Orlando, Florida this week to speak at CPAC.

Whether it's fleeing their responsibilities like Greg Abbott or fleeing the state during a crisis like Ted Cruz and Ken Paxton, Texas Republicans are proving yet again that they couldn't care less about Texans in need.

The question now becomes, who will be the next Texas Republican who the public finds fled the state last week?

Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:

“Indicted Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton joins Greg Abbott and Ted Cruz in either fleeing their responsibilities for Texans or fleeing the state entirely. This is a pattern. Texas Republicans do not give a damn about the people they were elected to represent, and they continue to focus on issues that don’t affect the lives of everyday Texans to gaslight them into thinking they are doing their jobs.

“Whether it’s using his public office to abuse power, wasting Texas taxpayer dollars with his frivolous lawsuits, or now, pulling a Ted Cruz and fleeing the state in our greatest time of need, Indicted Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton is once again showing that he puts himself above the people he was elected to serve. He continues in a long line of Texas Republicans that have utterly failed Texans when we need it the most. This is a repeated pattern. We must elect Texas Democrats to restore competency and compassion to our state government.”

I think this would be counter-productive because then it would look like she's only doing it to gain publicity for herself and to slam the GOP.  Rather, she should let everybody else say it about her, let others do her work.

RELEASE: Texas Democrats Step Up to Provide Food, Shelter, and Water to Texans as Texas Republicans are Running Away, Nowhere to Be Found

AUSTIN, Texas —  Democrats are providing the bulk of volunteer relief aid to Texas households impacted by boil water notices/water shortages and/or those suffering from food insecurity as a result of the deadly winter storm that knocked out power and water for millions of Texans.

Meanwhile, Texas Republicans abdicated their duties and either fled responsibility or fled the state physically.

Here are a few examples of how Texas Democrats are stepping up for our Texas communities:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Texas Democrats joined together to raise over $5 million in relief for Texans and have been organizing welfare checks and food and water donation drives across the state.

Meanwhile, with Texas children and seniors literally freezing to death in their homes, Texas Republicans did the following:

Ted Cruz hopped on a flight to Cancun.

Ken Paxton hopped on a flight to Utah.

And where was John Cornyn?

Who is and isn’t looking out for Texans could not be clearer.

She doesn’t need to instigate it. Just wait for Ted to tweet something stupid at her then watch her dunk on him with actual policy shit then end it with a “where were you when Texans needed you the most? Oh that’s right....”

Here at Astoria park, first time I’ve seen her speak in person. She is a tiny human. Can’t hear shit but glad I came to at least see her. Smaller crowd than I expected and everyone very youngish. Kind of funny that I never thought soap boxes were a thing but holy hell, a couple extra feet would do wonders in this situation.

Good for her for speaking today in commemoration of earth day activities. Can’t get closer to see but also glad that this thread has fallen so far. She is doing work but a 245 pg thread on a house rep from the NYC on a tx college board?

AOC tweeted a picture of her grandmother's home, saying she lived in squalor while Republicans or Trump or someone blocked Puerto Rico from receiving federal funds. Like all white guys with a twitter, this Matt Walsh character hangs on her every word, looking for his chance to gotcha her. To make her look bad for not financially supporting her grandmother, he started a gofundme with the premise of "donate here make AOC look bad". Like they usually do, focusing on one small part of the argument, her "abuela" (they love getting to use that word) instead of her broader point which was Puerto Rico as a whole suffering from the lack of funds. Whole lotta cocksuckers patting themselves on the back over this ownage

The hate engine is a hard one to deconstruct. To do something like that takes a heart that is lacking in empathy and is instead filled to the brim with hate and anger for others. I would imagine we probably have several posters here with that level of hate for her that find this to be a perfectly acceptable thing to do.

Too bad our man seed wasn’t smart enough to come up with this idea. He would have his wedding and honeymoon paid for in a flash.

QFT. The MAGA idea of “show how strong you are!” matches exactly with a weak man’s idea of how to be strong.

Conservatives may dislike AOC but I wouldn’t be so quick to say it’s because of her heritage, skin color or gender. It could be because she is the most liberal of the liberal. And that fact alone causes most conservatives and many Democrats to dislike her, evidenced by the fact that she was soundly defeated in her bid for a seat on the House Energy and Commerce Committee when the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee chose Kathleen Rice by a lopsided 46-13 vote.

Other than Sanders and other members of ‘the squad’, she doesn’t have much support. So little, in fact, that of the 21 ‘substantive’ bills she introduced, none of them even got past 'Action in Committee', indicating her bills were not taken seriously. As a matter of fact, she was ranked 230th out of 240 Democrats in legislative effectiveness.

She is liked by her constituents; by the social media world; and by Surly, so she has that going for her.

Conservatives dislike her not because of positions. Conservatives don't care about policy positions. They dislike her, because she is better at the messaging game and calls conservatives on their BS. She is very effective at countering their fake arguments for whatever bs victimhood that conservatives are claiming at the moment.

You assume that conservatives care about policy but reality is that only important game for them is to direct the media narrative. AOC disrupts that.

Right. Because it's the left that goes on Fox every few days to elevate her by conflating her "radical left" agenda with the true, secret agenda of those America-hating Democrats, and trying to pick apart her latest tweet or outfit. The only time I ever hear her name is on this thread, or when one of my dumbass friends/relatives links a hit piece on her on Facebook and comments about how big her mouth is.

So it's either one of two things:

1) The GOP thinks that she's the future of Democratic party, and they're trying to stop any forward momentum now.

or,

2) She's an easy mark for their xenophobic and sexist base to attach all of their fears about socialism and evil liberals to.
