I think he's referring to the fact that Heupel had never played or coached in Florida prior to taking that job.

Got it.  Kendal Briles probably makes sense for that job given he's coached there and now at FSU.  But hiring as HC is a different level of scrutiny.

I can’t even begin to explain this.

You’ve posted this on multiple threads, what’s the issue? They’re replacing a failed hire from a local hs. Dave has west coast connections, bright mind and after this year, he likely understands how an offense should operate. Where’s the horror?

The issue is that it seems like Aranda should be in line for a much better job. He’s arguably the best DC in college football and has been for years - and he’s going to UNLV?

How many people even knew UNLV has a football team?

I didn’t realize the Fertitta’s were involved. He might not be taking as much of a pay cut as I thought. Between their money and the facilities - maybe Aranda thinks he can turn this into a real football program.

I guess you never say never, but Aranda to either of those “programs” would be an idiotic career move.

I was in Ft. Collins a few weeks back and was able to check out the fb facilities, place has everything needed to win at that level. Kevin Wilson will have them playing well or eating their own puke in no time.

Aranda seems like a west coast type, I don't see his personality doing well as HC. He must understand that LSU fans are about to go crazy with expectations after this season. I thought Brady might ride this into a HC job but EdO is selling him on learning the ropes and taking over the program once ready.

Why is Urban Meyer involved in Colorado State Head Coach hiring process??

Tuesday update at Colorado State

By Scott Roussel      December 10, 2019

On Monday, the Colorado State search was trending toward former Tennessee head coach Butch Jones. In fact, we were told a deal was being negotiated.  However, sources told FootballScoop that the search has taken a late turn, and former Indiana head coach Kevin Wilson now has a very good shot at being offered the job.  If Colorado State can reach an agreement with either Jones or Wilson, a formal announcement could be made as soon as later today.

Of note: Urban Meyer advised Colorado State and, sources say, sat in on meetings as a representative of the Rams.

Wilson, 58, went 26-47 in six seasons as the head coach at Indiana from 2011-16. Prior to that, he was a pioneer of the spread, up-tempo offense. as Northwestern’s offensive coordinator from 1999-01 and Oklahoma’s offensive coordinator from 2002-10. After Indiana, Wilson spent two seasons on Meyer’s staff at Ohio State and continued with Ryan Day as the offensive coordinator.

Urban still helping in Colorado State Coaching search...

"Addazio also shares a trait with Wilson and Alford in that all three are fruits of the Urban Meyer coaching tree. Meyer has been working as a consultant for Colorado State in its search, and was photographed with Parker and McConnell in Indianapolis on Saturday night."

  • Butch Jones may have a Title IX issue
  • Kevin Wison had player abuse issues at Indiana
  • Steve Addazio has BC player complaints coming out now after firing

Sources: Chip Long unlikely to return to Notre Dame

By Scott Roussel -   December 11, 2019

Chip Long is exploring other opportunities and is unlikely to return to the Notre Dame staff, sources told FootballScoop Wednesday.  Long has been Notre Dame’s offensive coordinator for the past three years. Hired as part of a staff reboot in the wake of the Fighting Irish’s 4-8 season of 2016, Long has helped Notre Dame go 32-6 with a trip to the College Football Playoff in 2018.

Notre Dame’s numbers were up significantly in 2019. After tying for 47th at an even six yards per play in 2018, the Irish averaged 6.25 this fall (33rd). The club’s scoring average grew from 31.4 points a game last season to 37.1 in 2019.

Prior to Notre Dame, Long worked alongside new Florida State head coach Mike Norvell, first as the recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach at Arizona State while Norvell was the Sun Devils’ offensive coordinator, then as Memphis’s offensive coordinator under Norvell’s direction as head coach.

An All-American tight end at North Alabama, Long broke into coaching working with tight ends as a graduate assistant at Louisville in 2006 and later Arkansas, then obtained his first full-time position as the tight ends coach at Illinois in 2010.

Watched Pittman's media PC with the pigs. Dude gets it, CDC should require Herman to watch it and find his own authentic voice.

Traylor's PC was better than Pittman's...

Also interesting that Barry Lunney, Jr. followed Traylor to UTSA instead of staying at Arky with Pittman.  Will be interesting to see who Pittman hires as his assistants at Arky.

I don't think the decision was Lunney's to make.  Sounds like he was asked to find other employment opportunities.
