Ted Cruz is a piece of shit

Recommended Posts

Does that 35% include military?  I assume it does.   If so, how much of that military spending returns to our own economy?    Or do we pay for military protection/intervention so companies like Haliburton etc can go plunder the natural resources of 3rd world countries?

Does that 35% include corporate welfare?   Are O&G subsidies calculated in, and if so, how do they reflect the overall good of reduced fuel prices, if any?

It's so damn convoluted and interwoven.

I'd like to see a breakdown of who pays what into that 35%.  Broken down by economic class or individual v corporate.    Compare that to the amount of income/wealth per class.  Put that on a chart, let's see whose paying what really.

Lastly I'd be so curious to see how much income goes untaxed due to off shore transactions and sheltering.  Which class do you figure that sort of banking benefits?   I doubt there's any way to find that?

Look at these questions.  I don't have any real clue.  But at least I have a general idea of what could be going on.    And yet I, like many of you, deal with cretins daily that don't even know what socialism is.

Heidi Cruz doesn't strike me as any more human than her husband.   Those poor kids don't have much gene pool to draw from.

One of these two, and if pressed to choose, I'd go with Gingrich

Only if you consider his class limited to wealthy, republican white elderly males.   Everybody else is expected to toe the line on the laws they write (and do it with grace), like voter suppression, red lining.   It's been that way a long time.

It for sure includes military. And since we spend a hefty chunk of our 35 on the military, Japan doesn't have to. Neither does Europe. So they use their 37 to 50% providing things for their people. So while we get to die on the street after leaving our heirs with 100k hospital bills, our tax money goes to subsidize universal healthcare in pretty much the entire industrialized world except here. Plus phenomenal infrastructure. You should see some of the transit systems we have indirectly funded. And world class bridges and roadways. So while I drive around on roads in NYC that are like the surface of the moon, I dont recall seeing a single pothole in Tokyo. And only a handful in western Europe.

Already the anti-Ted campaign is leading where I'd like to see it go: to the soul of what it means to be Texan. Song parodies of Yellow Rose and Deep in the Heart have already been made. Somebody here posted an incredible recasting of the Crockett "You May Go to Hell" quotation remade with Cruz as Davy and Cancun replacing Texas.

Texas Dems, probably on outside advice of Yankee DNC types, have ceded all the legends to the GOP. The GOP already claims patriotic virtue on the national front (Nazi pun intended) and now they would have us all believe that even Sam Houston would be a Republican today. We need strategists who can reconnect with voters on the level of myth: the Alamo, San Jacinto, the Rangers who fought Comanches. Neither Gus McRae nor Woodrow Call would so much as spit on Ted Cruz.

The Dems need to seize hold of the legends. Whack the GOP across the face with a horse pistol and show them the picture behind the bar, back when Big Dick Energy Democratic Men like LBJ and Big Dick Energy women like Ann Richards ran this state. Not clammy crustaceans like Cruz and preening Yankee nancy boys like Danny Goeb.

Matthew Dowd on Don Lemon tonight said that during his time on team Bush, the easiest way to end a meeting early was to invite Cruz because nobody wanted to be around him.  Not breaking news, but basically said Cancun Cruz is and always has been a self serving prick.  Lol.  If we’re inevitably stuck with R leadership around here, I sure wish Dowd would primary Ted or Abbott and win.

Not even a GOP politician can directly fuck over his donors.

The GOP isn't worried about that anymore, the next time they will have the military and it won't matter. That they are this close has emboldened them, the social fabric is frayed and torn, and yet people are still willing to spout the talking points that this latest crisis is due to windmills without any reflection whatsoever. The GOP thisclose to the goal line is not going to walk away and head to the locker room.

But that is pretty much the country now. You will go from little fiefdom to little fiefdom. The roads will be tolled, fees to pay, everywhere you turn it will need money to grease the wheels so your family doesn't starve or be killed because they didn't do as the local leaders 'suggested.' White, black, brown, none of that will matter just as it didn't and doesn't in Central America as the families walk away from their homes and head north.

Imagine that for a second if the four million without power and/or water were refugees streaming toward something better, without knowing that better even exists. That is what and who the GOP endorses for its citizens. Pay up or die. That's the way the death cult rolls.

How was this not price gouging?  Isn’t that a prosecutable offense during a crisis?  I recall stories about gas station owners being prosecuted after hurricanes for jacking up prices, but suddenly its ok to jack up NG prices by 2000% ?

He would be re-elected. Easily. Right now.

You know it’s true. Doesn’t matter who his opponent is, real Texans can’t vote for a baby-blood drinking communist libtard!

This is true.  If the Democratic Party had balls they would change their name to the ‘Remocratic Party’ so they can use the ‘R’, at least in the south.  Typical pub voter would be too stupid to figure it out.

Apparently it's only price gouging when being sold directly to the public.

This is pretty much what I was alluding to concerning military.  I was thinking more along the lines of Germany, but yeah to Japan.  We hold bases there and pay our military who then use that money to enrich the local economies as well.     What do we get in return?  Any type of cash payment?

Apparently in some places we do, like Germany.  But again there is no cut and dried figure to point to as to how it affects our bottom line at home.

https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2020/07/06/germany-spent-over-1b-to-cover-costs-linked-to-us-troops/

Over 60% of that billion was for construction of things that will remain in Germany.

I'm not going on an "America First" rant, but I have to wonder how much money we spend on it abroad really benefits the average American, and how much benefits the top 1%.  Just seems like another way to funnel money up.

I won't deny we need to be active all over the world to help defend democracy and human rights, but seems we never learned much from Charlie Wilson's War.

it's a problem that needs solving. it's usury. it is preying on people who don't know better. it's worse than payday loans.

you aren't getting that money. as a matter of fact, it should be the end of that industry altogether.

You're right about donkey to an extent, but you're also missing a big thing. He did know who Ted was. But before this week, he thought Ted's bullshit would only affect poor people or minorities or women. Now, whether donkey actively wanted others to be fucked over or just didn't give a shit is largely irrelevant. He's an asshole either way. But what you are missing is that, never in a million years did donkey imagine that he would end up getting fucked.  But he did.

Think of it with a different set of facts. Donkey, at best, probably doesn't care if cops shoot innocent black people. But now that innocent white people are getting shot, something needs to be done.

So he may very well vote against Cruz in the primary next time. However, that doesn't make him any less of an asshole. Like any Republican, donkey only cares about himself, and that self finally took a hit. But he isn't gonna vote for anyone that really wants to help all people in general because he doesn't want to help all people. He wants to help himself. So he will vote for another liar in the republican primary and then, maybe, abstain from voting in the general election. But I do believe he is done with Ted.

This assessment makes sense if I am you and hold the beliefs and values and ideals that you do, and believe them to true and right.

And you are 100% right that my admitted embarrassment with Ted Cruz is specific to him, it does not mean I’m now for taxing everyone in the upper middle class to where they are lower middle class and will vote for someone who openly endorses abortions or openly says “heck ya I want to take all the guns, compadre!”. It means that Ted Cruz has crossed a line of cowardice that can’t be tolerated. He violated a principle of being a man, no matter his station or party.

I’m done with him, as I hope many others who previously supported and voted for him are as well. Glass half full; that means hopefully if enough people agree, nobody (R or D) will have to suffer Ted Cruz again.

Also I think you are speaking metaphorically as I didn’t take a “hit” from Ted Cruz on this. I lost power for 8 hours, I own a generator and my home ever got below 63 degrees. I will be buying a whole home generator in the future. I live on an acre in the country in a new build of all of 8 months so my pipes were newly insulated and have not had a burst. This isn’t about me personally or specifically, but everyone in Texas.

I have not been able to stand my former hobby of lurking in on talk radio radio shows. But in the brief minutes that I check in, I have noticed that the hosts' voices have tightened up, like literally losing some of the bass and getting higher-pitched and squeakier, like a sales dude whose rent depends on convincing you to buy a Yugo.

The callers, even when you find out they are 40, or even in their 20s, sound like guys in their 80s croaking about how it used to be.

Looking forward to tuning in one day and it's Top-40.

Whiggins gets it.

The rest of us think Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome is a cautionary tale. The GQP looks at it as a rosy fantasy film. Anarcho-capitalist fiefdoms as far as they eye can see, answerable to no one.

Want water? Fight for it.

Want fuel? Kill for it.

While the masters sit on their throne and laugh at the spectacle.

This is what Donkey wants. After all, he just told you - he’s got his already. He can sit on his throne in his new build, and laugh as the rest suffer. Because - and this is very, very important for the rest of us to know and understand - he’s a sociopath. He will use language about bullshit “issues” (any taxes are making people poor! Mah guns! Abortion!)....but give not a single millifuck about the ACTUAL business of governing: roads, water, sewer, power, etc.

He is a sociopath. He doesn’t care if you suffer. At all. He’s got his.

I’m pretty sure I know the answer, but has he done ANYTHING concrete to help since he got back? Or is he just sitting at home watching MILF porn?

Looking at his Twitter, I just see empty platitudes and video of him on Hannity.

Even an empty souled person would do something to save face. Not sure what that makes Cruz.

I mean other than the fact that the military leaders preemptively stated they would not intervene on Trump’s behalf last November, and the fact that the GOP is bleeding members in pretty much every district, your gloom and doom prophesy seems dead on 🙄

Yeah. Formerly it was differences of opinion, with occasional common ground (talking local dudes, not national choads like Hannity) like organizing relief after hurricanes, or interesting insights into local politics.

Then all through the pandemic the jackwagons were going soft on people who wanted to pretend nothing was up, which made it personal. After the election it became bought-and-sold Trumpy Bear where they scatter from one myth to another.

I listen on a cheap-ass radio so no big whoop if I throw a brick at it, but it might scare the dog.
