EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The University of Evansville has placed men's basketball coach Walter McCarty on administrative leave pending an investigation into alleged violations of the university's Title IX policy, according to a news release issued Friday afternoon.

Evansville received reports about McCarty's off-court behavior, including an incident that appeared to violate its Title IX policy.

"The University has received reports of unwelcome conduct by Coach McCarty since his arrival in March 2018," Evansville president Chris Pietruszkiewicz wrote in an internal letter to staff. "We have counseled him about his behavior. In the last two weeks, the University received a troubling report about Coach McCarty’s interactions with a member of the campus community. We have placed Coach McCarty on leave while that incident is being investigated."

Evansville coach Walter McCarty watches his team against Kentucky during their 2019 game at Rupp Arena.

Pietruszkiewicz added it was not a decision "made lightly or in haste" because while McCarty, 45, has been successful and is a popular figure throughout the community, his success doesn't "in any way outweigh the need to uphold the standards that define our university."

"UE will not tolerate any behavior from any university employee or student that jeopardizes the safety and security of others," he wrote.

The investigation will be conducted by a national law firm. Evansville will make an informed decision on McCarty's status based on the results of the investigation, the university said. At this time, the school said it does not intend to publicly discuss or disclose any specific details related to the investigation.

Things not going well for South Dakota's richest man.

T. Denny Sanford, the richest man in South Dakota and a major donor to children’s charities, was being investigated for possible possession of child pornography, according to four people familiar with the probe.

Investigators with the South Dakota attorney general’s Division of Criminal Investigation obtained a search warrant as part of the probe, according to two of the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. They said the case was referred to the U.S. Department of Justice for further investigation.

Mr Big from Sex in the City -- includes allegations of straight up rape. Dates with Mr Bigger and Mr Biggest are in his future.../nolobo.

Jeff Garlin ousted from The Goldbergs for vague "HR violations." Somehow I see this ending up a plotline on Curb with him telling Larry all the details and Susie screaming at him way more than usual.

Yeah, I already said that would make a great Curb episode like two weeks ago.  You can't just say "nolobo" and steal my artistic license.  Also...I don't condone prison violence.  For the umpteenth time, the guy that killed Aubrey and the guys from 1/6 insurrection...they deserve extreme physical violence and being beaten to near death in prison.  Everybody else, deserves humanity.  How is this so fucking hard for you guys?

People were arrested and have been imprisoned based on their actions during an incident on 6 January at the U.S. Capitol.  I mentioned them and that's a Cloak Room post?  Because I brought up the fact that these prisoners exist, that's political?  Marion Barry did time in jail, and rightfully so.  Is that political to mention that?

I think it was an episode of Law and Order:CI, but Garlin played a Harvey Weinstein type character. I thought at the time he was pretty good at going outside his zone and playing an asshole. Little did I know he had been practicing all that time.

I don't know what Garlin said or did but the easy test of controlling your words at work are asking yourself if you were feel comfortable going to a meeting with HR and reading what you said after it's been written on paper. If you have to explain context, you've already lost. And as far as physical contact, don't touch your co-workers.  Even if a female co-worker goes in for a hug, shake her hand instead. It's a bit awkward but then its very obvious that you're setting boundaries.

Finally HR advice from a friend in HR: never admit you did something wrong. Treat HR like the police. As soon as you admit that you said something, they may have enough to fire you on the spot. Even if there are 10 witnesses, say that you don't recall saying that. Don't even offer to apologize.

In a recent series of Curb he has all these strangers coming up to him telling him what a pig he is and how they hope he dies. People are asking Larry how he can be willing to be seen in public with such a monster and shit like that....Seems like they could have milked it a lot longer but I guess they just to acknowledge that Garlin looks a little like Weinstein and move on.

Frank Langella fired from Netflix show after misconduct investigation

Veteran actor Frank Langella has been fired from Netflix’s new horror series The Fall Of The House Of Usher, Deadline reports, after a misconduct investigation on the show’s set reportedly found that he’d “been involved in unacceptable conduct” on set.

News that Langella was being investigated for sexual harassment on the set of the series first broke on Tuesday, courtesy of a TMZ report whose text we’re going to just re-print here, since it’s a fairly straightforward run-down of the allegations:

Subscribe to our newsletter!

As for what exactly happened, a source close to production tells us the 84-year-old actor allegedly made an inappropriate joke that was sexual in nature. Our sources also say in the context of his performance, possibly during rehearsal, he touched the leg of a female costar, and further drew attention to the action when he jokingly said something like “Did you like that?”

Langella played Roderick Usher in the adaptation of the Edgar Allen Poe story (in which the character is normally shown to be significantly younger than Langella’s 84). Filming on the series won’t be interrupted by the firing, at least not yet; Langella wasn’t set to film this week, apparently, and the current plan is to film non-Roderick scenes until a new actor has been cast in the part.

Langella has worked fairly consistently in recent years, in both television and film; he appeared as the judge in Aaron Sorkin’s 2020 feature The Trial Of The Chicago 7, and before that as Jim Carrey’s controlling father in Showtime series Kidding and as handler Gabriel in The Americans.

So now even old guys can’t get away with telling dirty jokes.

https://www.npr.org/2023/11/28/1215600691/sean-diddy-combs-temporarily-quits-chairman-revolt

News of Combs stepping down from his post comes days after three women came forward to accuse the music mogul of sexual abuse. The lawsuits were filed the week of the expiration of the Adult Survivors Act — a New York law permitting victims of sexual abuse a year-long window to file civil action despite the statute of limitations.

One of the lawsuits filed against Combs was a federal suit arguing that the record producer raped, sex trafficked and abused his former girlfriend Cassie.

The singer — whose real name is Casandra Ventura — filed the $30 million lawsuit last Thursday, alleging a history of coercion and abuse that went on for more than a decade.

According to the lawsuit, Combs and Ventura met when she was 19 years old and Combs was 37. In 2006, Ventura signed a record deal with Combs' label Bad Boy Records.

Following the signing of the deal, Combs then settled himself into Ventura's life, as he gained control of all aspects of her life while plying her with drugs and alcohol, the lawsuit alleged.
