Can someone explain how territory is won and held? I don’t understand it.

Each team starts with their home territory. When a team loses, the team that beat them gets the territory. This keeps going as teams keep winning and getting larger territories. Eventually The national champion acquires all of the territory except for the random upset teams, say UNC beats Clemson they would have all of Clemson's territory and no one would be able to take that from them.

Interesting that Stanford gets Alameda County even though Cal is located there. I guess Stanford is closer to more of the county since Berkeley is in the northern tip of the county.

Cal should challenge that ruling. Or take it by force.

Yes, each team's home stadium's distance from each county's center is measured and the ones that are closest to their stadium are awarded to them. This is what you they start with. For each game, the two teams stake their lands, and the winner takes the loser's land. Ideally, you want to play previously undefeated teams since they would have a good collection of lands.

Here is the map before the season started.

For example, Colorado didn't gain any land last week because Nebraska had none since they had lost it previously to Minnesota. Besides the possibility of gaining land by beating teams that have land that that time, the only way they can gain their homeland is to beat the team that beats Minnesota.

Wyoming has the second largest land holding after Washington. So, potential to gain large tracks of land.

But yeah, I'm only just now starting to understand how this fuckin thing works. Quality of opponent doesn't matter, just how much land they occupy when you beat them. The catch to that is you could go undefeated, yet if everyone you play is shitty you could still end up with very little land.

the rules have been in place for like 9 years man. and the rules explicitly tell you how it works.

each county starts every year ceeded to the Div 1 school that plays football that is closest to the county. which is why Washington starts off with Alaska every year, since there isnt a Div 1 Alaska football team.

then, if you lose a game, you lose all your territory to the team that beat you.  After the first week you can only gain territory if the team you play against (and beat), has territory.

So if you end up 13-0 but end up playing a team that loses the week before you play every time, you would never gain more territory than your initial ceeded territory.

This week because wyoming was 2-0 we will get all of their territory, including west Texas because Wyoming beat Tech in week 1 and won against a cupcake in week 2.

However, next week since Baylor lost their first and 2nd games, they have no territory.

so all we can do is "hold serve" next week. If we lose, Baylor gets all our territory. if we win, we gain no new territory.

however if we win and ou wins next week. then we go into the RR Shootout where whoever wins ends up with a lot of territory since both teams would have large chunks

Baylor has no land to cede, so there will be no territorial gains for Texas' victory next weekend. If Kansas wins next week against BYU, and Texas wins over KU, the empire will include most of Utah, KC area, southern Illinois, and NW Arkansas. Of course, if OU can stay undefeated until the Cotton Bowl, we'll see a major consolidation of territory into an emerging south-central empire with great holdings in the Rockies.

I call for some type of retroactive chain of losses annexation provision. USF beats Rice next week, then all of that territory should fall to Texas based on the transitive property transfer principle. TX>Rice+TX>Bama>USF>Rice=TX land as long as still undefeated.

Army.

Baylor lost to Texas State in Week 1.  Then Texas State lost to UTSA in Week 2.  And the Roadrunners then lost to Army on Saturday.
