Ingram should starts

Obviously the main concern during the bye week is to get Sam healthy, but the bye week is timed perfectly because Ingram has been getting more involved on offense, but Herman has said he's still dealing with some nagging injuries so two weeks for him to get well is incredibly ideal right now.

throw on the fact that the guy is a willing and, the vast majority of the time, effective blocker. in the 3rd qtr he had a nice run then had a solid block on a shane scramble in back to back plays. dude just has the it factor and is hella talented.

Does Young even play anymore?

I know that Carter doesn't play (and will most likely leave), but Young is a big dude and is a nice battering ram. He's already gotten carries in FIVE games this year, so this can't count as a redshirt year. That being said, he hasn't gotten even one carry the last two games. None.

Is he in the dog house? Why isn't he even involved at all? Watson certainly isn't the occasional battering ram that Young has been/could be.

But yes, Ingram should starts!

*Texas Sports shows that Young has seen the field in all 7 games.

It's maddening how badly Herman has managed skill position snaps on offense.  He's gotten better at it, generally speaking the right WRs get the most snaps...but man he still sucks at divvying up RB snaps.  Ingram is much better than all the rest.  He should get every snap if the game is in question unless there is a workload/injury concern.  Tre is solid but he just doesn't run as well as Ingram.  Young, at this point in the season looking at his body of work, should not get snaps unless the game is decided.  Porter should not get any more snaps until Senior day and then only if his parents are there.  NFI if we'll ever see CJ's brother or TC again.

Disagree 100%. I don’t want the 18 yr old RB getting 30 carries in game one and is done by game 4.

His usage has been almost perfect, especially considering no one knows how banged up he really is. Bottom line is he has been available in the fourth quarter to close out the game and not fumble.

When you watch the games in isolation, it is a bit head-scratching. But then when you look at how the staff has been easing him in (as I posted above), taking into consideration that he was banged up by his second game and that he was a summer enrollee, it makes much more sense (although I think Ingram could have been played more against Maryland).

So much this. Ingram isn't a big back either and he's a physical runner.

15-20 carries max is all I want to see right now. No need to run him into the ground at this point. Especially when he's only 80 to 90% healthy.

I think the only criticism I have of the RB rotation is I would like to see more Young than Watson.

Watson does some of the same things that Ingram does. Young is a different mold and physical between the tackles.

I would like to see Young get 5-10 carries a game. Even if he's not churning out yards he forces defenses to make business decisions. I think there's value in Young wearing down defenses even if we don't have a lot of success.

To be honest

i don’t really remember much of Jamaal, until he hit the nfl.

was he overshadowed by another running back??

( sorry.   Booze n time...)

i’ll shut up and listen....

He split carries with Selvin Young in 2005 and 2006, but still had some spectacular plays and rushed for over 800 yards each year.  He was the featured and dominant running back for Texas in 2007 rushing for over 1,600 yards and 18 TDs, so I'm surprised you "don't really remember much of Jamaal, until he hit the nfl."  That must have been an awfully long bender.

He ran for like 250 yards against Nebraska in the 4th qtr. You want to buy the shoes he wore from that game?

I like Watson, but if we're going to give him snaps we need to use him in the passing game more. That wheel route against OU looked natural.

That was his specialty at Cal, he was the receiving specialist of their RB committee. Kind of surprised we haven't used him like that.

I think our RB rotation is methodical and reasonable if you care about player development more than winning this year at the cost of winning in 2019 and 2020.

If Ingram is good enough to be a high draft pick, then he'll be gone after three years.  First and second round RB picks historically ramp up their production over time.  Most are third backs their freshman year and get well less than 100 carries.  We're actually playing Ingram more than we should because he's so much better than the guys that were on the roster when he got here.

This may not be fun to hear right now, but in the second half of that Nebraska game Greg Davis remembered that he needed his QB to be a run threat in order for his offense to not be hot garbage.

It's not controversial to acknowledge that every once in a while Greg Davis could pull his head out of his ass.

Yep.

The only thing I would do more is using him as a decoy, because as soon as he comes in it's too obvious he's getting the rock again and again. Also, Watson is pretty good too, and should be getting the ball in space a bit more than just dive right up the gut. Ingram can somehow get himself into space on almost every play. I think he has elite quickness and acceleration, as well as vision.

Going to be a ton of fun watching the offense continue to evolve, as long as the O-line keeps improving, I think it's going to be the scariest offense in the Big 12 for sure. Not a typical big 12 air raid, but a spread power option offense with the ability to stretch the field.

Colt got hurt a couple plays. Chiles came in I think and handed it to Jamaal. The floodgates opened as everyone predicted against one of the worst rush defenses and the rest is history.

Greg Davis is an example of how people misunderstand and misuse statistics. His offenses were record-breaking but he sucked for the most part.

hey guys, who is jamaal charles again?

He also made one of the most important/underrated plays the entire 2005 season vs. tOSU....fell down on a wheel route on right sideline around our own 30, intercepted by AJ Hawk (I think) who returned it across the field.

Jamaal hopped up and instead of chasing Hawk, looped around and when Hawk was coming across the middle of the field....likely for a TD, Jamaal decleated him. We held them to a FG.

A fucking amazing play for a true freshman in his second game.
