Just another way to screw the poor.

As opposed to the incredibly progressive state propert tax that fucks renters in the name of “school funding”?

Can someone point me to current GOP platforms that would cause an educated 19-29 year old to move from the center or the left to the right?  I get it, it used to happen a lot.  Lower taxes, more "family" shit. But what now?

I've certainly become more conservative, at least fiscally, as I've moved into my 30s, started a business, had a kid, etc.

I also voted straight ticket dem for the first time ever.

Conservative =/= today's GOP. The tired trope of "people age into the Republican" party won't hold up. People age into fiscal responsiblity, but we don't age into hatred and bile and creating our own self worth on being better than others. I'm not a democrat. They're pretty terrible as a party. The fact that Pelosi is even a consideration for speaker is an absolute abortion. But until anyone and everyone who supports and enables what's happening right now is gone, she and they have my vote. And I'm not alone.

Sum sum, yall fucked, trumpkins. World is changing. Sorry you aren't prepared. Deal with it and take the loss pussy.

Republicans appear to see public education as "socialist."

I wonder if O'Rourke's state issued ID matches the name on his ticket?  I don't get to fly under my nickname, "Cock Beretta", why should he get to fly under his?

I am stupid because I called a man by his name?  Robert O'Rourke?  Got it.  I'm just jealous I guess because I'm half Mexican and I didn't get a cool nickname yet.

BTW-I didn't vote for Ted.  But your head can't fit nuance, so I digress.....

How are you advancing intelligent discourse with this stupid troll snipe? Do you not see that you're being a troll with these vapid insults? Why even post on this thread or forum if you're just going to be an immature child? I really don't get posters like you.

How is it simultaneously ok in your mind for Cruz to call himself Ted?  It's also not his real first name.

Sorry, I didn't realize the other 268 pages of Cruz v. Beto was a place of esoteric impunity.  I didn't vote for Ted.  Robert O'Rourke is the man's name.  I think he runs against George P. in 2022.  Can we use that as a springboard to talk about high level shit now?

No, you're fucking stupid for still blabbering on about a nickname.  There are countless examples of people's nicknames being on the ballot, one of which you already pointed out.  It's such a tired argument, and one with undertones that really don't make sense when you look at the lack of success of Latinx people running for positions of power in Texas.

Never defended his name switch either.  Show me where I did and I'll blow you.

Kinky Friedman.

Wonder if his state issued Texas Driver's License said this.  Otherwise, SCANDAL!!!!

In 2012, a fantastic American named Jose Hernandez ran for U.S. Congress as a Democrat, in the California 18th.  He was sued and intimidated by Republicans to have his title, "Astronaut" removed from his ballot name.  Much in the way, you see "Doctor" or "Honorable" in front of someone's name on a ballot now.  His contention was it took longer than most other titles and should be able to be listed on his ballot name.  I helped that fight in Sacramento because Jose's story was too amazing to let fall by the wayside.  He lost that race, but he'll come back and his ballot struggle was real.  Not Ted, not Beto, not any of that bullshit.  The son of migrant farmworkers lived in outer space.  And they didn't want his title on his ballot line.  That was a battle.  And I am proud to have helped in a small way.  That's being a progressive.  Fuck Beto.  Fuck Ted.  When you want to get into the arena and work against the establishment, we can do great things.  Meantime, your yard sign and bumper sticker did exactly all of jack-fucking-squat.

Right. Many people grow more fiscally conservative as they age. I don't see anything in the current GOP that would lead me to believe they are fiscal conservatives.

That and D is the party that doesn't hate Mexicans or Blacks.

Lol. If their vote magically switched tomorrow, the D’s would want a wall and the R’s would want better bridges for them to cross.  It is 100% about which way the vote falls for both parties.  Eta - I don’t feel either party hates minority’s more. I believe there is plenty of racism in both.

You keep referring to one by his long -adopted nickname without issue and are roasting the other for the exact same thing. Fuck off, aggy troll.

Cruz is his long-adopted nickname?  Got it.  Beto versus Cruz.  Both are nicknames.  Duly noted.  This challenges ballot law forever.  You should call your parents and tell them you've finally made a difference in the world.

what's even more interesting is that i've seen a major shift on this front in the 8 years i've worked in technology. the c-level execs with whom i meet have shifted from taciturn, definitely more republican leaning but quiet about it. now they are virulently against the administration, even at the ceo level, to the point of mentioning such, in front of a press and analyst audience, at a public event. it's uncanny.

Jimmyjazz, that was cute going through this entire thread and negging my posts.  That had to take awhile based on the sheer volume..  I honestly don't know your politics and don't care, but I suspect you and I like Sen. Cruz about the same amount.  In a weird way, today was probably the most important day for you in politics.  Congrats sir.

I don't know about Jimmy, but some people need to lighten the fuck up on Friday afternoon. My advice is to  cut out and pour a cocktail gentlemen.

holy shit, my bad dude.  I had like 15 of those "reacted to your post" things on my update feed thingy.  It was jimmyjames.  Sorry, I just saw the jimmy thing and just stopped scrolling since he negged so many posts over the course of like 10 minutes.  Sorry man, have some rep.  I'll edit my post.

Couldn't edit, but have some more rep.  And yes, I am wonderfully aware of the irony that I got negged by jimmyjames and called out jimmyjazz because jimmyjames, not jimmyjazz, didn't like it when I called Beto, Robby and Edward, Ted.

I'm gonna call Roger, Victor, and Clarence and straighten this out.  And I've already had two cocktails.

Here is an example of a poster who:

a) enjoys playing along with the inherently racist and, frankly, stupid idea that Beto is somehow trying to portray himself as Hispanic,

b) adds nothing of any value to the conversation and is only wanting to troll,

c) doesn't know how to post a simple gif without leaving some garbage url link cluttering up his post, and

d) misappropriates the name of a fine vintage computer game for his handle.

Zork should be embarrassed of his worthlessness.
