Heh. I saw that too. IF I spent 500 bucks for some chick, its damn sure gonna go longer than 40 minutes, especially if I already knew the cops were watching the shit out of me.

Hey, maybe she gave him another header during that 8-minute layover in the Whataburger parking lot.

Lol at the cops set him up theory. Cops do a lot of stupid shit but having someone underage have sex with a perp to get a bust ain’t one of them.

You don't think cops enjoy being an accomplice to sexual assault of a child, child pornography and sexual performance of a child in order to make an arrest?  Wouldn't you risk half a decade in prison to bust one guy?

Seems kind of relevant:

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2018/09/judge-orders-cody-wilsons-arrest-demands-pictures-of-his-upper-legs/

Quote

On Wednesday morning, a county judge signed the arrest warrant for Cody Wilson, who is accused of sexually assaulting an unnamed underage girl.

Upon Wilson’s arrest, Travis County Magistrate Judge Tamara Needles also ordered that police take photographs of the inside of Wilson’s "upper legs," presumably as a way that he can be identified by the victim. Wilson apparently has a "uniquely identifiable skin condition" according to court documents.

Quote

A week after the alleged encounter, a counselor contacted APD on August 22 to inform them that one of her clients had been involved in this incident. Detectives then interviewed the girl, who provided numerous details about her alleged encounter with Wilson.

The girl's parents also allowed the police to search the girl's iPhone. There, authorities found numerous messages and links to SugarDaddyMeet.com, the website where Wilson and the girl apparently met.

Police ultimately matched a Texas driver’s license of Wilson, who allegedly went by the handle "Sanjuro," with Sanjuro’s profile picture on the website.

Wilson and the girl exchanged messages first through SugarDaddyMeet and later via iMessages. Reportedly, he eventually told the girl that he was a "big deal." When she attempted to learn more about him, the girl found numerous news articles about the digital firearms activist.

She was interviewed a second time on August 30 by Austin police, and at that time she told authorities she and Wilson had exchanged nude photos of one another.

Oh, and nude photos of her - that could also give him a federal charge. Rut roh.

 Additionally, federal jurisdiction almost always applies when the Internet is used to commit a child pornography violation. Even if the child pornography image itself did not travel across state or international borders, federal law may be implicated if the materials, such as the computer used to download the image or the CD-ROM used to store the image, originated or previously traveled in interstate or foreign commerce.

I'd say Cody is gonna have some fun times in bang you in the ass prison. Hope he likes salad.

Jesus H. Christ on a cracker, BurntEyes was wrong but his theory was never that the sex with a minor was a sting you doofuses. He clearly stated the entire time that his theory was that the underage girl could have been busted on something else and then leveraged into accusing Wilson of this crime.

Carry on.

Cody Wilson is not in U.S., says APD. He's in Taipei, Taiwan, and recently skipped his flight back home.

How recently did he skip that flight? I'm assuming that it was before they put his shit on blast, but far be it from me to assume that APD didn't royally screw something up.

It sounds like the charge was filed this morning and release publicly because he skipped the flight home. He apparently was aware he was being investigated before he left.

It's not OK for adults to fuck 16 year olds.

Would it surprise anyone if:
1. Cody was under surveillance by Feds;
2. Feds watching Cody saw the whole hooker meet up occur;
3. Feds think girl looks awfully young;
4. Feds bust girl and confirm she's underage, but offer to let her walk if she rats out Cody;
5. Feds tell girl to spill beans to the counselor knowing that counsellor had obligation to report it; and
6. Cody gets busted?

It seems very convenient that this underage hooker just happened to spill the beans to her counsellor a week after the deal went down.

None of the above is meant to get dude off the hook for fucking a 16 year old. Inexcusable.

I think Cody Wilson has one shot at escape-- needs to head to the south end of Taiwan, steal a fishing boat, island-hop to the Philippines, then once there make his way to the extreme southern end of that country, convert to Islam, and join the Muslim insurgency if they are interested in printing really shitty guns that shoot once.

I mean, hell, they probably already make their own shitty guns that shoot a bunch of times out of metal in machine shops. Like a Sten or somesuch. But maybe if he throws in that he is wanted for child-molesting, he'll make more friends. Not like somebody would turn him in to get even a 50 dollar reward.

"Feds bust girl" theory means the APD detective is a liar and a perjurer.

The girl told the story to her counselor, a mandatory reporter, who provided the tip to APD.

She has not been arrested for anything, as far as we know.

He would not stay in Taipei if he had a choice because pretty much every nation except the USA has hardline restrictions on gun ownership and there's no way in hell they would tolerate his crypto-anarchy 3D printing weapons business.  He's basically walking away from everything he ever built, which makes no sense if he was being "set up."

If he knew he was being "set up," then why would he create such a sloppy paper trail?  I don't think anybody is that stupid.

Let's recap here: he used his REAL FUCKING NAME with an online escort.  He met her in a public place, drove her to a public hotel, with lots of surveillance, where he checked in using his real name and probably also his real credit card.  And he did this to commit a crime (solicitation and prostitution) that doesn't depend on the girl's age.  This is not the behavior of a man who knows he is being watched.

Since the news did not go public until today, he would not have found out about the warrant until he was already abroad.  That's pretty sloppy police work by APD, and if he gets away I will blame APD for going public with all of this before he returned back to the US.

That's not really accurate either. He said that the cops had Wilson under surveillance and they busted the girl in an "alternative sting." So even in his theory, it meant that the cops knew about the sex and then leveraged the girl into spilling the beans to get to Wilson.

But it's a shitty theory, and a way to excuse what he did. It's like the Manafort defenders "well, he wouldn't have been caught if they weren't out to get Trump." Just because you can get away with a crime doesn't make it legal, or moral, to engage in a crime. And it's a theory that detracts from the actual crime itself. "Sure, Manfort bilked the US Treasury out of $15mm, but it wasn't really a big deal, and he only got caught because of Democrats!"

Back to the case at hand, if you want to, go read the probable cause affidavit, and it blows holes in BurntEtes's theory. The report was made to a child's therapist, who referred it the Child Advocacy Center, who referred it Law Enforcement. Cops weren't involved for a while. And the idea that cops were surveilling Cody, pressured girl when they noticed , the somehow got her to make the same, consistent statement to her therapist, a CAC interviewer, and the police. That's not Ocam's razor, that's victim blaming and trying to deflect from the fact that a 30 year old diddled a 16 ( or 15 or 14 or 13) year old.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but these facts that have been reported and are in the affidavit are not a he-said / she-said. They are a she-said to her therapist, who referred it to the CAC, then said it in more detail to a CAC interveriwer, then security footage at 3 different places (Coffee Shop, Hotel, Whataburger) all confirmed what she told the interviewer, plus there are records that Cody Wilson had paid for a hotel that day (including the floor and the room number that she reported), and also her phone had messages between Cody Wilson on both the website and i-message, and also the car in the security footage the she gets out of and he gets out of matched the plates on his car. This guy resorted to paying an girl (16 or younger) $500 bucks for sex, and then he fled the country. He's guilty as sin.

Again, don't fuck teenagers if you're in your 30s. It's not that hard of a rule to live by.

I won't defend this guy, neither will I condemn him.

This guy has pissed off a lot of powerful authority. He might be an asshole. He might be guilty of the crimes for which he is accused.

However, the information provided here is very, very suspect.

I could easily see this happening a very different way.

Police were already watching the shit out of this guy. He picks up basically a hooker from a website. She quite possibly lies about her age. He has sex.

Cops bust the girl on an alternative sting, she agrees to go against the guy to get charges dropped. She says what they tell her to.

I don't know this happened either but the alternative is.. .

A girl was on sugardaddymeet.com She meets a guy in a restaurant. She reveals she is underage. Even though he knows he has a lot of heat on him, he invites her to a hotel. She agrees. She goes to hotel and decides that she doesn't want to have sex. He pushed the issue. Sex occurs and he still pays her $500, which despite being sexually assaulted while underage, she accepts.

Occams Razor

For as many people that get up in arms about police issues in the US on this website there are a lot of you that jump to believe them if you don't like the guy being charged.

Most recent reporting is saying he was tipped off that the girl was talking to police before he left the country. I.e., he left BECAUSE he knew shit was going down.

Officer said Wilson left the United States before police could schedule an interview with him and then missed a scheduled flight back to the country. Authorities are working with national and international law enforcement agencies to bring him into custody.

Officer also said Wilson had been informed by a friend of the victim before he left the country that the victim had spoken to police. Sexual assault is a second degree felony that carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

I would hope that APD didn't file the affidavit and go to the press with this until after they confirmed he wasn't on the return flight.   Still, it seems like a better strategy might have been to lay low, wait until he thought the coast was clear and returned, then bust him.

If he didn't know before, he does now.

Unlike Snowden, I don't think this guy is going to find many sympathetic folks to help him flee.     Guns,  hate group fund raising, diddling kids.  Something for everyone to hate.

If you’re actively fleeing from a charge, do the statute of limitations effectively pause until the police actually have the ability to take you into custody? Asking for a friend....

i would bet even money this guy posts on surly.  Can the admins check logs for Taiwan ips?

The limitations period doesn’t run while he’s out of state. It also doesn’t run while there is a pending charge or indictment.

Statute of limitation is tolled while out of the state.

It's academic though, because there is no limitation on Sexual Assault of a Child......

Also, not sure of the law, but might be a federal charge of Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution 18 U.S. Code § 1073, amongst the many other state (and federal) charges that could be brought

Yeah, if you're gonna go pissing off the ATF, local and state law as well as the big anti-gun movement which has a shit load of media behind it, you better make certain your shit don't stink. And by that I mean, not even smoking weed illegally, much less picking up hookers that turn out to be underage.

Fucking liberal media anti-gun conspiracy makes it so hard for crypto-anarchists to go around paying junior high girls to fuck them.  Life is so unfair!

Surly:

Scenario 1-cop enters wrong apartment and shoots a suspected burglar-cops are fucking crooks and liars. Bitch murdered him because she was tired of his loud music and hates black people. Cops are covering for her.

Scenario 2-no fucking way would cops risk jail time and do something illegal to set up a guy who has pissed off numerous law enforcement agencies. Cops are heroes and never break the law.

I looked at the list of countries that don't have an extradition agreement with the US, and I think I would go with Croatia.

That stuff is for the movies.  People get extradited from countries without extradition agreements all the time.  Lack of an agreement doesn’t mean they won’t extradite, it just means they are not bound by treaty to do it.
