Survivor (whatever season this is)

I wonder if placement payoff ever comes in to play. From everything I’ve seen, one seems to earn about $10,000 for every vote survived after the first jury member.

So, stick with your three, guarantee that u get around $100k plus a minor shot at a mil OR make a move at 8, target yourself, earn ~ 30-40k and no shot at a mil.

I’d go with the former.

If this is true, then they should consider changing the payout structure to where all jury members get the same.  If you don't think you can win, then there is more incentive to not try then to try.  Just sit back, don't rock the boat, and collect your check while watching someone else win.  It makes for very boring game play.  It would explain why people who don't really need the money are often the ones who play the hardest.

I was going to say that Dom was an exception to that, but he has certainly been given a lot of help, which makes it look like he is playing harder than he is.

The payout amts are not official; just rumored.  My theory could be a moot point.

I think they are probably pretty accurate. I don't know the details of the contracts but my guess you have to be paid more if you are on more episodes. Pretty much every reality show the longer you are on the show the more money you get, on top of any prize at the end.

This late in the season I still have no clue which player started where from all of the damn switches and twist.

Team Wendell. Total meh season.

Totally agree.

I like Survivor, but I hope they eventually wake up, do away with teams, and just go individual from day 1.

Oh, and do away with this ghost island type crap.

I pretty much never watch the challenges, just ff through them.  If someone references something significant I might go back and ck it out, or if there's a particularly good shot of someone, but it saves on time for me.

It does seem like 90% of them this season have been who can hold x for the longest.

I think it would be really cool if they would implement some of the mxc-style events. something to give it some fun, and maybe even a little comedy might help.  in a military obstacle course you have to crawl under a net, which survivor incorporates, you have to climb up a cargo net, which survivor incorporates, but you also have to get across a set of monkey bars, which survivor never incorporates.

I don't think we will see the Ozzy or Colby challenge runs again, where every challenge is suited for the agile athlete.  They have clearly gone to a lot of effort to try even the playing field for challenges, and I think that is a good thing.  That said, I strongly believe that the challenges are set up to favor specific contestants.  Some seasons you see a lot of puzzles, others, like this one, have been light on brain requirements, and the ones that they have had were not particularly difficult.  It's all part of the production manipulation.

Well two of them somehow couldn’t manage getting about 8 or so planks in the right order during the Illimination Challange, so what do you expect?

Dhonathon is such an idiot, he almost talked himself off the island.  And I hope the blond woman’s job in the army was sanitation or tank painting, otherwise I’m a little worried about our armed forces.

i guess next Wed is the finale?

These are some of the worst players since the very early years.  They all know they can't beat Dom or Wendell, yet all seem content to do nothing about it.  May as well just let Dom and Wendell make fire for the big check right now.  And what was the point of splitting the vote?  That seemed to be decided during tribal, but was a very risky thing to do.  If Kellyn and Angela had voted Dom, he would be gone, but nope, you underdogs should just keep targeting each other because that's how you are going to take out the favorites.

Some of the cast from previous seasons have to be feeling a bit cheated that they didn't get to play against this group.  At this point, I want Angela to make it to final tribal just hear her reason for why she thinks she deserves to win.

Yep.  SinceMyDivorce reminded me of a girl I broke up with in high school.  We had mutual friends so we still sat together at lunch.  She would spend every lunch letting everyone know how “great” her life was since we broke up.  It was pretty funny seeing even her best friends constantly rolling their eyes.

This is one of the lamest seasons ever, and I’ve watch them all.

This.

I am rooting for players by default not for anything they have done to impress me via their game play. Either this has been a horrible season (and probably one of the worst ever) or the editors are doing a horrible job of creating an interesting dynamic to get invested in and root for.

I tend to blame the too many idols but now I am leaning toward shitty casting as well.

Probst had the nerve to keep pushing the narrative this was a “great season.” He knows better than anyone it was a dud. He even mentioned good ratings (I presume he’s telling the truth), but it smacked of defensiveness. I’m sure he’s heard the criticism.

Too many tribe swaps early hurt, but not as much as a collection of many truly bland personalities.

Wendell and Dom dominated this lame bunch, so the final two deserved their positions. But it was one of the worst seasons they’ve had, right up with Vecepia and the soft core porn winner.

I didn’t need the Kevin Hart promo, and YogaFakeTittiesWoman wasn’t there at the finale.

Interesting.

“Since My Divorce” still sucks.  Wonder if Dom looked like her ex.

i don’t think Dom would have built th fire any faster.  Prob a good decision not to go that route especially given, what I presume to be, the large difference in payout between finishing 2nd or 4th.

I wonder if there was any equity from Wendell giving Laurel the immunity necklace when it came to her final vote.  If so, that was pretty smart considering he may have won her final vote by giving her immunity in a vote in which it ended up not mattering.

At least the two alpha males saw Dom’s game for what it was.  Watching the women, Donathan, and the pirate whine was pretty annoying.

I think the most deserving person won, but it sucks that an argument could only be made for one other person.  I've never seen a cast so full of pussies who were afraid to make a move, including Dom and Wendell.

Dom and Wendell made it to the end with their 3 person alliance. Not sure how they could have played the game any better (with this weak ass cast) It was a horrible season but they played it perfectly. The only big move they could have made that they didn't was voting each other out. And for all the stupid talk about past season runner ups making the wrong choice that was back when they actually had a choice. I like the fire making challenge but it's just another bullshit move to allow someone that would be voted off to stay in the game.

The second to last vote with the 15 different idols was just awful.

That is exactly my point.  Not blindsiding Wendell cost Dom whatever the difference between first and second gets.

When? It would have had to happen way earlier in the game and risk Dom being voted out the very next week. You can't turn on your alliance until you know you have the numbers to stay the following week. They were the perfect shield for each other. As I pointed out if it was like the previous X amount of seasons prior to this and the last I have no doubt that Dom would have voted him out but the fire making challenge doesn't allow him to do that.

He would have had to do it at the tribal where they voted off Kellyn.  He still would have had a real and fake idol to play, and with Wendell out, would have had a decent chance to win immunity.  Perhaps he was planning to make a move at one of the following two tribals, but Wendell won immunity both times.  The only other reason to not try to take out Wendell is if he believed he could beat him, which very well might have been the case.  Hindsight is 20/20, but I think he would have had a better chance of winning by making a move.  We'll never know, because this was Survivor - Pussy Island.

Lowest rated finale in series history. Down 20% from previous 2 seasons.

dom was agonizing over who to take to final over donathan, laurel, and angela.  he chose poorly.  angela would have surely voted for him over wendell.  not sure if donathan would have.  either way when it came down to laurel picking the winner he knew he was toast.  there was no way in hell she was picking him over wendell.

Yep.  He made the mistake of thinking Angela could possibly win the fire making challenge.

He really chose poorly for several reasons. The second Probst announced that Laurel would be the tie breaker, you could see it in Dom’s face. I’m sure she told them who she voted for before they even left the tribal council set that night.

lol! While a couple of them gave a half hearted try, that jury put up virtually no fight in the Q&A session. At least they’re consistent. That was a gang of doormat fools if I’ve ever seen one.

Production set that up pretty nicely with all of the clips of Dom talking about the importance of that million dollar decision. Boom! Roasted!

The smirk on the blonde chick’s face was priceless when Sebastian declared that he was all about “love” and actually had no “strategy”.

Survivor needs to find an island where weed is legal and provide a generous supply for those that want to partake. Call it Survivor Smoke Out. Whatever, but the show needs more dudes like Sebastian.

Yeah, what the show needs is more people sitting around doing nothing and people that don't have anything to say for most of the season.

Angela didn't have much. But she cleaned up nicely for her jury appearance.

I knew she was a diamond in the rough. She has a Chris Evert/Trish Murphy from Skyrocket thing going on.

Late to the game, but just finished it last night.

Kellyn was awful.  Just awful.

Angela spilling the beans to Dom had to be the result of either (a) a producer giving her money to warn Dom or (b) she's the dumbest player of all time.

The fact that Kellyn and Surfer Bro were roasting Dom over his decision to "flaunt" his fake idol was some of the most butthurt jury bullshit I've ever seen.  Surfer Bro saying "We were friends...yeah i was going to vote you out, but the way you went about it [saving yourself] was wrong."  GTFO.
