A large number of LSU football players have been placed into quarantine in an effort to curtail the spread of the coronavirus, sources confirmed to ESPN.

The news was first reported by Sports Illustrated, which placed the total number of players in quarantine at 30 or more. Sources told ESPN that not all players in isolation have tested positive; some are in isolation as they await their test results.

I mean if we’re limiting the sources to just within Louisiana, it’s probably not too far down the list.

Justin Thomas leaves LSU football team, Ed Orgeron says: 'We wish him the best'

BY WILSOson Alexander      Staff Writer

August 18, 2020     1:00pm

Defensive end Justin Thomas has left the LSU football team, coach Ed Orgeron said Tuesday.  Thomas, a junior, entered preseason camp as a possible starter in LSU's new 4-3 defense. Orgeron did not say why Thomas left the team.

"Justin Thomas will not be with us," Orgeron said. "He left the team, and we wish him the best."

Thomas played in five games last season with one start. He recorded eight tackles, one sack and two tackles for loss. Thomas primarily appeared in a backup role, but he earned a spot in LSU's third-down pass rush packages.

In mid-October, Orgeron said Thomas had withdrawn from school for personal reasons. Orgeron hoped Thomas would return for the spring semester.  Thomas came back to LSU in February, but he departed before preseason practice began Monday. Orgeron didn't indicate Thomas would return to the team in the future.

Thomas became the third player to leave the team, joining senior defensive end Neil Farrell Jr. and senior defensive back Kary Vincent Jr. They publicly opted out of the season because of concerns related to the novel coronavirus. Farrell intends to play at LSU next season, while Vincent will prepare for the NFL combine.

Without Thomas, Orgeron said former outside linebackers Andre Anthony and Travez Moore are starting at defensive end.  LSU has options at the position this season with junior college transfer Ali Gaye, freshman Phillip Webb, freshman BJ Ojulari and junior TK McLendon in the mix for playing time.

"At defensive line, we have a lot of depth," Orgeron said. "We can rotate those guys."

Guice allegedly raped 2 girls in separate incidents while at LSU and (surprise!) LSU didn't investigate though they were aware of the allegations. Figured this was (unfortunately) the appropriate thread.

The former boyfriend redshirted his freshman year and said he steered clear of Guice because “I probably would have lost my (expletive) on him.” But he said LSU head football coach Ed Orgeron brought up the subject of his then-girlfriend and Guice about a year after the alleged assault, telling the athlete that he shouldn’t be bothered by it.

“(Orgeron) said, ‘Everybody’s girlfriend sleeps with other people,’” the former player told USA TODAY.

That quote could easily be out of context but, uh, that seems really bad

Baylor is preparing a response. They will not let another school infringe on their Rape U status.

How did they not learn a lesson from Baylor?

Hey if BU hadn't hired Pepper Hamilton then we would've got off without any serious problems. If you think BU has too much pull with Waco PD and McLennan County then imagine LSU with Baton Rouge PD and the entire state of Louisiana.

Excuse me, there was a team vote, and they voted to keep him on the team. That's all the justice I need

I don't think LSU is going hire an outside liberal law firm like Pepper Hamilton to come and investigate their sexual assault issues. Where are those Tracy people demanding people be fired?
