I'm sure they're sterilizing all the chips.

And cash.  And wiping down slot machines after every use, elevator buttons, door handles, stripper asses and every other thing you put your hands on out there.  I have hand sanitizer in my pocket during normal times when I go out there.  I can't think of going out there now.  I just cancelled a trip out there for work.

I got an email from MGM about them stepping up efforts to prevent corona.  Once it is found in a casino there it will be pandelerium.

I got a new offer from Aria today, but it was the same as the one they've been sending out for 6 weeks. Up to 4 complimentary nights and $100 in food & beverage credits. I go with my wife in June every year these days anyway, and this time she said she wants to do all 4 nights. Yikes. Anyway, they required me to call in. I called in, and I asked them "is this the best you can do?" and the guy said, meekly, "yes, sir, it is". I told him thanks, but I was going to hold off and wait for them to sweeten the pot.

Current offer is good to reserve through 4/30, so it's no big deal if they don't improve it. Anyone want to opine as to whether the offer improves though, and by how much? I'm not a whale or even vaguely resembling one, but we go through a lot of dough when we go to Vegas. I feel like they have to move it something like $300 in F&B before it is all said and done.

Just like you, we are closely monitoring new developments regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus). The health and safety of our guests and employees is of the utmost importance.

We are committed to doing everything we can to make Wynn and Encore a respite when you visit one of our resorts.

Therefore, we've decided to raise our usual standards of cleanliness and health safety even higher. We didn't become the leader in guest experiences by maintaining the status quo; you can count on us to be a travel leader in meeting the challenge of the coronavirus.
What We Are Doing Differently:
We have implemented several new policies and procedures, which follow recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD). In addition, Wynn Resorts has independently engaged as a noted consultant, Dr. Rebecca Katz, Director of the Center for Global Health Science and Security at Georgetown University Medical Center.

We are in constant communication with our employees to reinforce our sanitization safety procedures in both guest-facing and back-of-house areas. We are sanitizing high-traffic public areas at an increased frequency.

Hand sanitizers are located throughout public and back of house locations. Sanitizers are refilled and checked regularly.

Public touch points, such as handrails, elevator buttons, door handles and knobs are cleaned multiple times throughout the day.

Surfaces such as front desk, restaurant counters and dining tables are wiped regularly.

The casino gaming floor slot machines are wiped and surfaces cleaned multiple times throughout the day.

All departments have implemented hand washing or sanitizing procedures to take place multiple times during the employee's shift.

All employees are instructed each day on correct hand sanitizing procedures.

Employees are instructed to wash hands before and after eating and before returning to a work area.

Table gaming employees are instructed to wash hands after every break before returning to a game.

Proper procedures are posted in all back-of-house work areas.

All Wynn employees are prohibited from reporting to work with a respiratory illness that can be transmitted to others.

Wynn Resorts has instituted a new Employee Sick leave policy which offers 5 days paid sick leave to ensure employees who are ill remain home.

Employees insured by the company have access to healthcare, many of whom also have access to a 24-hour telemedicine provider.

If any employee were to be diagnosed as having coronavirus, they would be placed on a Medical Leave of Absence and would be paid for the duration of physician-mandated treatment.

For guests who feel unwell, we have detailed protocols developed in partnership with the Southern Nevada Health District

If at any point a guest feels ill, they should return to their room and contact the front desk. A trained member of our staff will come to the room and help assess the situation, including taking a temperature reading, and evaluate the need for medical assistance

It’s slightly difficult to game this because we are entering into and dealing with a somewhat unique situation. All it takes are bunch of cases to hit Vegas directly, including employees, and we could be looking at closures like they did in Macau. That was for only two weeks.

* breaking news *

And as I am typing this a woman guest (from NY) at an MGM property just tested positive.

So I’m not sure how badly the casino wants to send out extreme deals in this environment. My guess is they are hunkering down and hoping it passes quick enough to get regular customers back.

LAS VEGAS, March 11, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- MGM Resorts International (the "Company" or "MGM Resorts") today informed guests and employees that the Southern Nevada Health District has confirmed a case of the 2019 coronavirus (COVID-19) involving a guest at The Mirage. The Company released the following statement:

"We were informed that an individual from New York who was a guest at The Mirage and an attendee of the Women of Power Summit from March 5-8 has tested positive for coronavirus. Upon learning of the individual's symptoms, Mirage staff worked in coordination with the state health district to implement MGM Resorts' health and safety protocol.

I’m with you. I thought about this facet. My hope is that, irrespective of the scope of the issue short of the apocalypse, they’re not going to see demand immediately fire back up. As such, for the willing, an aggressive offer for June-August could tip the scales to a “yes” on the visit. Probably wishful thinking though.

Went ahead and cancelled our trip.  I’m not really any more worried about getting sick out there than I am here, but the biggest reason we were going was the tournament.  No need to go now without it.  Looking at possibly going this summer if/when this thing passes.

247Sports:

The 2020 NFL Draft has reportedly been delayed from its traditional April date due to the coronavirus outbreak. Pro Football Weekly's Hub Arash reported on Saturday that a source indicated the draft, scheduled for April 23-25 on the Las Vegas Strip, will be postponed until May at the earliest and not be held in Las Vegas.

The Las Vegas strip was set to host the event for the first time in its history, with the event set to be held adjacent to The Bellagio hotel-casino. The draft has been held in various cities in recent years after a long run in New York City, with last year's draft being held in Nashville, Tennessee.

"According to my sources, Las Vegas is already canceled — it just hasn’t been announced yet — and the league will announce the Draft is being postponed until late May at least — as soon as the NFLPA’s decision on the new CBA is announced."

As far as the casino industry is concerned, the spread of the disease has forced Wynn Resorts to close the Las Vegas hotel-casino's poker room, sports book, spas and salons effective Sunday.

Some strip hotel occupancy rates dropping to single digits this week according to rumors

Last week, I checked the pricing on my 5 night July stay at Wynn.  All prices include resort fees and taxes.  Checked using incognito mode, cleared cache and cookies, etc.

When I booked after Christmas, it was just under $1600.

Last week, it was $1200.  I didn't bother to call about rebooking, thinking it might go even lower.

Today, it's $1900.

Who knows.  Unless some convention has tentatively rebooked these dates in late July, it's not been publicly announced yet,  and Wynn is taking advantage of this info.

Wynn Resorts will close its two luxury hotel-casinos on the Las Vegas Strip for two weeks starting Tuesday.

The company announced the closures of Wynn Las Vegas and Encore after Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak ordered that all K-12 public schools in the Clark County School District close.

After two weeks, the company will evaluate the situation, according to a release sent to investors. Some employees will stay at the properties to maintain the facilities and security.

MGM just followed suit by closing all their properties beginning Tuesday.

Edit.  NFL Draft is a month later. Bellagio is the host hotel.   MGM didn't announce when they would reopen.  CDC is recommending no groups larger than 50 for the next 8 weeks.  NFL Draft isn't happening this year, at least how it was planned.

If older Vegas hotels were smart, they us the time to shut down, borrow $$$ at 0%, and do cosmetic upgrades. It will be a free for all when Vegas reopens and you don’t want to compete with a shithole setup.

I have a friend who has a little bit of a gambling addiction (though according to him, he comes out ahead most years...) and the other day he said that he only had Brazilian MMA and one other thing to bet on.

I was wondering if those gaming competitions were going to be the new thing for people to bet on now that no sports can have people anywhere near each other.

Do any places in the world already take bets on those competitions? Can those competitions be done online from people's homes? or is there too much of a lag and both teams have to be in the same building?

Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

It would be worth it if they broadcast the shit talking by all the owners in the chat room.

It would be even better if someone with IT screwed up and set it to auto-draft instead of live draft. Browns accidentally draft 4 QBs and still can't find a good one.
