Pretty sure Kerrville used to be a district game for Westlake.

I don’t see that in the team history.  However they did play old Kerville high in non-district in 84.  Also played Tivy in 90 and 91.

Some former district opponents from fairly far away include Cameron Yoe, Caldwell, Rosebudd Lott, Waco, Killeen, and Killeen Ellison.

PG will skullfuck Jasper if they play.

Jasper needs to get healthy.  They had a squad last year but were devastated by injuries on defense.  This year a bunch are hurt also.  I like Barbay’s offense.  My brother in law is the d coordinator.  I hope they continue to do well.

They handled WOS pretty easily in regular season and lost to them in the playoffs when their entire d line was out.

Greg Tepper is nearly as big of an assclown as Ric Renner.

Rockwall beat Arlington Martin 45-38, first time they've scored under 50.  They play Longview next week.

Wimberley is for real.  Beat Fred 48-31 to go to 4-0, all against 4AD1 teams.  Probably better than two years ago, but that team got better every week.  But given Cuero's suckiness (lost to Gonzales tonight), Wimberley is the region 4 favorite in 4AD2.

Judson 51, Steele 48.  Wow.

Grandview 14, Malakoff 13.  Malakoff has lost 4 games in the last two years, 3 to Grandview including state last year.

Abilene Cooper 30 Abilene Wylie 0

By my count that's 15 straight losses for Wylie.  I know moving up to 5A is a big adjustment, but shit... Something else is wrong.

Big score for Slorch: Post 14 Abernathy 13  Of course, the game was stopped in the 3rd because of weather and west Texans are pussies skeert of the weather.

San Augustine 67 Teneha 14 I'm betting SA wins state in 2A.

Jim Ned 28 Mason 19

Hawley 22 Albany 20

Holland 27 Crawford 7  Holland now has double-digit margin wins over Mart and Crawford.

Manvel 38 FB Marshall 34

Tivy 24 Boerne Champion 19

Carthage 24 Gilmer 15

Sealy 34 Bellville 14

4A Waco LaVega 61 @Goo Punch's alma mater 0

Yoe 49 Giddings 22

Brandeis looks damn good as well. They have the best QB in the city imo, junior Jordan Battles. Super dynamic athlete.

Steele's QB has been starting since he was a freshman. He's a junior now and really coming into his own. They do seem to be legit this year.

Judson will get upset in the 1st or 2nd round or get smoked in the 4th round. Wasn't too impressed when I saw them. God help them if a game comes down to special teams. In the game against Harlingen they had 3 missed XP's, 2 muffed punts, and a bonehead kickoff return decision.

Clark looks to be fucked as a program for a long time. Amazingly, they haven't had a winning record in any season this decade. They hired a nobody head coach from Fort Bend Clements or something this offseason, and now they're very well on their way to an 0-10 season. It's even still a good school with a largely well-off student body, pretty much the same as Churchill. No idea why they can't win. Sad for what was once a premier team in the city.

#ValleyFootballMatters:

Keep an eye on Sharyland Pioneer in 5A. They lost to Harlingen 41-40 in the first game of the year, and they likely won't lose again until playoff time. Their QB Eddie Lee Marburger is Joe Burrow-lite. They're a scoring machine. La Feria down in 4A looks strong as well. Wimberley lucked out big time that they're in a different division.

Ouch.  How many times did CyRanch fumble during that game?

0 fumbles, 1 INT. Could not stop Bridgeland's offense. 315 yards at half, 477 for the game

Bridgeland's QB Conner Weigman ('22) is legit. Started the year splitting time with the returning starter from last season but has taken over as the starter

34/42  384 yds 4 TDs 0 int in the game.  84/112   1050 yds  14 TDs 0 int on the season

It is for real.
"GILMER — The Gilmer Buckeyes defense was sensational, keeping Newton's high-powered running attack at bay and snapping the defending back-to-back 3A Division II state champions' 33-game win streak with a 16-0 victory on Friday at Jeff Traylor Stadium."

District 2-6A vs District 32-6A showdown weekend. Harlingen is throttling Midland right now, 35-6 at the half. “Little SWC” my ass.

Forgot to update this. Harlingen kicked Midland’s ass 49-13. Cool moment on Harlingen’s last TD as their senior foreign exchange student from Italy scored his 1st touchdown. Took a WR sweep to the house.

Harlingen South gave Odessa a tough game but lost. Tascosa beat the shit out of Brownsville Hanna, Permian beat the shit out of Los Fresnos. Midland Lee should be charged with a hate crime for what they did to San Benito (who’s expected to compete for the district title). Lee looks damn good this year, they could go as far as Tascosa last year.

This RGV update is great. Pretty cool that they did a sort of 32-6A vs West Texas week. I try to follow my Weslaco Panthers pretty closely, and it's easier since I can watch/listen to their games on Facebook; and my parents work in the Harlingen school district so I get those updates sometimes, but it's hard to follow the big picture when I don't live there anymore.

Yeah, I don’t live down there anymore either. I still have a ton of family down there though, a lot of them keep me in the loop. I’ll browse the 956sports forum sometimes, but it’s not super active anyway. Also Rio Sports Live on Youtube & all their live-streams are nice. Weslaco should finish 8-2 or 7-3 at worst. They lost to a really solid Rowe team by a field goal in the 1st game but that’s been it. They’ll probably lose to Vela, but the other Edinburg schools are weak & Donna North is a joke. The Tinaco Bowl should be interesting though.

I think I’ve had 18 or 19 total family members graduate from Weslaco HS. My dad played football for them back in the 80s. Pretty sure he’s still mad that they never made the playoffs while he was there, 1 team per district went back then. I still have one little cousin left playing in the panther band right now haha. I went to Harlingen but Weslaco’s definitely my 2nd favorite school to follow down there.

RGV football talk not going away. I hate the dearth of good coverage for games. I regularly check Twitter for updates on Friday nights, might have to get into that Rio Sports Live if they're really filming games. I usually check on the entire region to see who's doing what, especially with games out of the RGV. Big win for Harlingen, who I believe had already lost a couple.

The Mighty Lions of La Feria are 5-0 and beat 5A Mercedes a couple weeks ago. Can't remember the last time that's happened. Seems like if you can't schedule another region like the big boys the next best thing to do is just play the big boys in your own. They'll run that division and hopefully make a run at a 3rd playoff game again.

I don’t think there’s a network quite like Rio Sports Live in the entire country. They live stream all kinds of valley high school games from all sports. And I mean to the point that they were live streaming volleyball scrimmages and 7on7 leagues during the summer, all with a commentator & everything. I have no idea who runs it or why they even do all that. But I think they do live stream 1 or 2 Friday night football games each week. Streams are pretty good quality, just kind of a low production value.

Harlingen is 4-1, only loss is to Judson. And yeah La Feria looks like the real deal. I heard they beat Brownsville Hanna (a 6A team) rather soundly in a preseason scrimmage.

Your dad almost certainly played for mine then... My dad was some combo of QBs/WR/OC from the 80s and into the early 90s. I graduated in '08 and played on the Mishak Rivas team lol

My dad and older brother still go to the games and will text me play by play updates lol

There are 7 teams in 4A D1 district 6.  All of them have played four games.  The top scoring team in the district (FW Diamond Hill Jarvis) is averaging 6 points per game.

either Im losing my mind (which may be possible)..... or your stats are wayyyyy off for this district.... k’dale looks to be scoring over 25 per and Lake Worth might be at 35 per......
