Agree. No one I talked to thought he had the leg to make that kick. Tough call by Dodge as it was 4th and 8.

I told my wife I would have kicked it before the play but several friends think they should have gone for the first. LT had a hard time stopping the zone read.

I would have gone for it.  42 yards into the wind just wasn't gonna happen.

But what do I know.  I think LT should have gone for 2 after that roughing penalty on the PA TD to try to make it a 3 pt game.  Going 1 and then executing that onsides kick was silly and put WL in position to drive down the field with the help of that PI.

My Panthers and Senior QB Jacob Cavazos having a great offensive year. I think Jacob is in the conversation for district MVP with the way he's playing this year. WR Jaden Cavazos looks like an All Valley candidate as well

Abernathy’s Bryson Daily committed to Army as an ATH.  ‘Twill be interesting to see if he ends up at QB or LB.  In the games I’ve seen, I thought he was a better quarterback than a linebacker. Not that his arm would  be used whole lot in that offense…

Unless something happens on the injury front, that region still is going to come down to Canadian versus Abernathy in the playoffs

Vela’s down big time this year, 2 losses already, the other to McAllen Memorial. McAllen Rowe has played a weak schedule but has beaten Weslaco & is 6-0. Harlingen has beaten Sharyland Pioneer (easily a top 3 valley team) & has just the one loss to Judson. Weslaco has a playmaker at QB and could beat anyone on a good night, but I wouldn’t say they’re number 1.

Helobious Valley Power Rankings Week 7:

1) Harlingen

2) Sharyland Pioneer

3) McAllen Memorial

4) McAllen Rowe

5) Weslaco

6) Mission

7) La Feria

8 ) Edinburg Vela

9) Mission Veterans

10) Brownsville Hanna

And along those lines, Llano beat Cuero 35-16.  Cuero now has to beat both Navarro and Wimberley to make the playoffs.

Mount Vernon beating Atlanta 42-7 in 4th

Frisco LS 41 The Colony 38

Refugio 83 Freer 14  Fuck those guys.

Harlingen beat Hanna 42-8 to strength its grip on the #1 spot in the prestigious Helobius Poll.

Woodson 104 Forestburg 7  WTH?

Judson 30  Smithson Valley 13

There were an incredible number of 50-point blowouts across the state.

Liberty hill commits illegal procedure on every play. They run up and hike it as they are getting set. The only time they don’t commit it is when they move somebody in motion. Below is a play that they were probably set the longest all night

lampasas qb throws such a great spiral

As far as what happened to LH, apparently they graduated 30 seniors from their 2 deep. Their QB has the worst throwing motion I have ever seen, he was 1-4 on pass attempts tonight with 2 of them at least 10 yards off target.

I bitch about this every season.   If the refs don't call that, they're hard to beat, so you can usually tell whether it's going to be a game or not based on what the officials do early.

They didn't really call it tonight, either.

Lampasas was just a much better team with superior talent and athleticism. The defense tackled very well tonight. LH only got a couple of long runs.

LH ended up with 3 first half turnovers and 5 failed 4th downs (4 on their side of the 50) for the game. The Badgers were bigger, stronger and faster. Multiple times defenders picked up LH runners and slammed them to the ground. Another fell as he was tackling and ended up taking the runner down with 1 arm and a handful of jersey.

If the Lampasas defense continues to improve, they could make a lot of noise in the playoffs. That offense is potent.

A ref almost died in the Celina-Melissa game. No joking. With 3:17 left in the game, he collapsed post-play and the trainers performed CPR. They brought out the AED paddles and shocked him back to life.

No ambulance was at the game, because it was called out earlier for a wreck. The ambulance didn’t arrive for 20 minutes. They transported him to a heart center, and he was doing well at midnight last night.

The long nightmare is over for Hugh Sandifer’s Abilene Wylie Bulldogs as they snapped an 18-game losing streak on the road Thursday night with a 21-14 win over Wichita Falls. Once one of the top programs in all of the state at the 4A level, Coach Sandifer’s squad has fallen on hard times the past two years since the jump to Class 5A, but Thursday night’s win did more than just break a long losing skid as it puts the Bulldogs squarely in the middle of the playoff race in 3-5A Division II at 1-1 in district play.

LOLz, it's a fight between Wylie, Old High, and Plainview for 4th place and a date with Justin Northwest in Bi-District.

Cy woods (without their startIng or backup QBs due to injury) loses big to Cy Ranch today to throw a monkey wrench into the 14-6a playoff scenario . Woods,  Ranch,  and Tomball Memorial each with 1 loss in district . Bridgeland has 2 losses with Cy lakes and Cy Park left. Ranch has Tomball Memorial and Bryan left. Woods only has Bryan left. Lakes only has Bridgeland left

How has jasper only played 6 games? When there is a clan rally do they cancel football?

Many teams have only played 7.  Lumberton in Week Zero was cancelled due to weather, if you recall the area had Harvey-like rainfall or greater during that time.
