You’re all wishcasting. It’s the same as when everyone predicts Aggy loses 6 games every year. It doesn’t happen. Republicans aren’t going to devour themselves. Trumpers attacking centrists are like Bernie Bros attacking centrists. At the end of the day, the zealots will vote in Presidential elections. Every election is about energizing as many people as you can.

While most Republicans are Trump supporters, not all Trump supporters are Republicans.

These people were not enough to keep a half-Black, Muslim, atheist, Marxist, Socialist, Communist, community organizer born in Kenya, raised in Indonesia, planted in Hawaii and later Chicago, out of the White House not once, but twice.

every time this picture is posted I find myself staring at it. it should be in a gallery. it so perfectly embodies our dumb fuck political climate right now (and then).

Top row:
- Camera: it is forever documented that this shit show was on tv
- Mr. 2 Timothy 3:13: But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. He's a King James guy. Just lending a helping hand to Mr. No Gestapo/Hobo Rand Paul.
- Mr. Smirks behind the sign. He's there for the shit show, nothing else.
- Ms. Me Yet: will bite your dick off. Made sure her sunglasses didn't interfere with her witty t-shirt. Homeboy behind her is checking out that ample booty. No doubt she's a trumpkin today.
- Mr. Plaid: either just farted or she did.
- Unabomber Jr is just biding his time

Bottom row:
- Captain Aqua is highly amused
- We all know the real star of this image is HRP. This guy could never commit a crime because his handwriting is a dead giveaway? Who makes their lower-case t's into crosses? Would Jesus approve?
- I didn't know Aileen Wuornos was still alive
- glasses guy is also highly amused. also just realized his picture was taken
- Maroon and stripes is very serious and not here for your shenanigans.

2 Timothy dude talks like Dale Gribble. Hobo Rand Paul goes by "the Professor" at the local DQ. Plaid shirt dude is the youth minister at the coolest church in McDade.

It does?  Pretty sure the swamp is more swampy now than it ever has been.

Perception. Supporters of a populist leader like Trump have the +/- relationship with the government that a lot of people have. If you only deal with the here and now and immediacy, then it is easy to ignore the quiet ways in which a society such as America runs and those ways include agencies and institutions that benefit the populace. His type of populism is to fool the public into thinking that instead of tax dollars improving government services to 'we, the people,' that *improving government services is an impossibility. It's the 'only I can fix it' mantra he repeats ad naseum and then promptly waves the shiny object with one hand while he pockets the tax dollars with the other OR funnels them to others in a 'deal.'

*I have no argument with members who believe that much of government is still a poor doer for large swaths of the population due to class, gender, race, and so on. I agree. But IMO it is more likely to happen through reform than rejection, through enforcing rule of law and not authoritarian law and order, and recognition that the myth of rugged individualism is just that: a myth.

I fear you are correct.

I hate it because sunglasses gal looks shockingly similar to a buddy's girlfriend in HS.  I always do a double take:

In all seriousness, this is key.

What the GOP knows: Core Republicans + Trumpers = winning coalition

What the GOP also knows: Core Republicans without Trumpers = permanent minority in both houses

What the GOP doesn’t understand yet: Trumpers don’t care about the GOP

It’s the mirror image of the Dems without the far left. Elections will be about who can fracture the others coalition more.

Sure, but It’s just not the same thing at all, Wulaw. Insurgent anti-American and anti-Democracy outliers aren’t part of the Democratic voting coalition and aren’t welcome.
Your party as you knew it no longer exists. The GOP civil war happened, and your side lost.

I mean, if he gets primaried it's going to be from some Qanon freakshow.

The Dems need to put forth a real fucking challenger.

It might not matter in this district, but actually the answer is Both.  You're 100% right about the QAnon freakshow. We need that motherfucker to be twisted and contorted and beat to hell during a primary by a mindless zombie as he tries to take unfamiliar territory, intellectual high ground. He thinks he's smart. Then regardless of who shows up in the next round, hopefully they've done enough damage and shown their asses enough that a democrat could win. A good one.

I have a friend who is a lifelong republican (mid 40s), but is fed up with them. Hates Trump, voted for Biden. However, he's a big Crenshaw guy. He's been telling me for a few years now about how he's "different". Welp, he cried uncle this morning. "Ok, fuck him".

Crenshaw really demonstrates how he grew up out of the US when he says he doesn't know what "party hardy" means.

It's actually "party hearty" or "party hard."  Party hardy comes from the same place as intensive purposes and uphauling.

Dan Crenshaw: He is who we thought he is:

Because - and this is the important part - he’s reprehensible scum. They all are. It’s a standard feature of Trunpists. They have nothing but contempt for other human beings.

We need to end this bullshit hero worship of all “veterans.” Anyone who has any experience with the military knows that it has an equal or higher share of scumbags and psychopaths compared to society as a whole. Having served does not excuse the rest of a person’s huge flaws. Fuck Dan.

Yep. Anyone who runs as a Republican, votes for them, supports them, considers supporting them, or even accidentally dreams about supporting the Republican Party is either a scumbag, a fool or both. This Crenshaw guy fits both categories.

Completely agree.  I've been called unpatriotic for refusing to go along with the notion that everyone who puts on a uniform is a hero.  It's horseshit.  Many of the biggest atrocities in human history have been carried out by men in uniform.  Sometimes ours.  I knew some complete pieces of shit in high school who joined the military and I guarantee they didn't become good guys the minute they stepped into Boot Camp.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for the men and women who serve admirably.  And I do believe that's the majority of them.  But, as with cops, it isn't all of them, and the sociopaths who operate under the cover of brotherhood from within and hero worship from without are some of the most dangerous people on the planet.

How do we fix it?  Damned if I know.  But it is a problem.

Crenshaw's look and military history makes him fairly popular in the GOP. And he does seem to separate from Trump from time to time. Not enough to get much attention from Trump though.

The point being that freshman reps from other states aren't usually called in to help incumbent senators to help with their run-off races.

He gets used because he got a boost from being “victimized” by “Saturday Night Live” and is a poster boy for how mean Democrats are to our brave troops.
