do you replace the tires on your vehicle with the same brand/type?

In my experience OEM tires generally suck as they are usually whatever the manufacturer can bulk buy at a discount. That said, I try to replace my tires in sets from the major manufacturers based on the best deal I can find. Goodyear, Continental, Pirelli, Michelin. Second tier but worth a look is Hankook, Firestone, Toyo, Kumho, Cooper. What I've found is the money spent usually trickles down to one or two guys anyways. Oh, and use Discount Tire. They'll price match anything.

Need to replace tires on a minivan soon.  Any recommendations?  I would say traction in rain is most important, but don't want to break the bank either.

This is all really damn confusing.  Seems like every tire at discount has a 4.5 /5 or better rating.  Am I to beleive ever tire they sell is top quality, or more likely 99% of people wouldnt know the difference between a great tire and a bunch of chaclas glued to a pizza pan, and just rate it high to feel good about their purchase.

I guess we'll see. I know these retailers have a good amount of wiggle room on their prices.  Last time I went in asking g for some specific pirelli for like $130, and they said they have these michelins which are "a little better tire actually" that they can sell me for the same price.  I know discount is always pushing the shit they have in stock.
