Funny story.....

http://footballscoop.com/news/clemson-coach-caught-attention-nfl-team-pro-day-event/

Fans of college football will remember the name JP Losman. The former Tulane quarterback had a stellar college career after being tabbed a top quarterback coming out of high school in Los Angeles, and went on to become a first-round pick (#22 overall) by the Bills in the 2004 NFL Draft.

Losman spent a total of eight seasons in the NFL, going from the Bills (2004-08), to the Raiders (2009), to the Seahawks (2010), before making the final stop of his NFL career with the Dolphins in 2011.

In June of 2017, Losman resurfaced in college football as a coaching intern on Dabo Swinney’s staff at Clemson, where he’s spent the past two seasons.

Today, Losman’s name again popped up, this time as one of the hot topics the Pro Day event that Clemson hosted. The 38-year old intern impressed stepped in as the quarterback to throw balls to wide receivers and defensive backs, and apparently was so impressive that he was approached by at least one NFL team about a comeback.

It’s not good enough that Dabo has one the best facilities in collegee football, or that he’s got one of the best and highest paid coordinators in college football in Brent Venables, or that he put together a staff and team that absolutely took it to Nick Saban and Alabama in the national title game…now he’s gotta have a coaching intern that turns the heads of NFL scouts while playing catch with his NFL hopefuls.

Just another example of Dabo winning again folks.

I would also call it another example of how shitty the NFL is in developing/handling the quarterback position.

You win you get paid.

I might have a philosophical issue with the money and commercial aspect of "college" football in general, but I've got no problem at all with with market forces within the system we do have.

You win you get paid.

Jimbo's contract on the other hand...

I agree with that sentiment for the most part, as the football team generates tons of revenue and exposure for the entire university.

But come on, $480,000 just for coaching TE's? This guy is in charge of 3 guys on the entire team. I know this is all of D1 football and not specific to Clemson, but still a little ridiculous.

A TE coach should generally be a recruiting rainmaker and earns his money on the road and recruiting all year long. The amount of time spent on his position group is far less, as you say, but they are usually busting their ass all over the state and country all year long.

Or should be.

Report: Sooners schedule Clemson

Oklahoma and Clemson have met twice in bowl games in recent years.

Now they'll reportedly meet in the regular season, but it won't be for awhile.

The teams will play in Clemson in 2035 and in Norman the next season, FBSchedules.com reported Tuesday.

The site reported that the Sooners would travel to Clemson on Sept. 15, 2035, with the return game the next Sept. 13, though the contract has language allowing the dates to be shifted.

The Sooners and Tigers have met five times on the field, with Clemson holding a 3-2 advantage. Oklahoma won the only two regular-season meetings between the two, 31-14 in 1963 and 52-3 in 1972. Both of those games were in Norman. The Tigers beat the Sooners in bowl games following the 1988, 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Injury bug hits Clemson......

Clemson likely loses starting wide receiver Amari Rodgers for season due to torn ACL..... Amari was last season's second-leading receiver for the Tigers.

Rodgers, a junior from Knoxville, Tennessee, had to be carted off the field Monday night during practice and on Tuesday morning underwent an MRI, which revealed that surgery will be required.

Recovery time following surgery to repair a torn ACL can generally range from six to nine months, although more time may be required to regain full movement and speed.

I guess they think that would deter Bama?

"If Swinney were to leave for another collegiate head coaching position in the first two years of his deal, the buyout would be $4 million. But the buyout increases to $6 million if he were to leave for Alabama over the next two years."

Not saying the salaries aren’t getting ridiculous, just that it’s a harder job than coaching in the NFL. To put it in my terms, if the same rate of inflation that was hitting college coaching salaries was hitting the strip club, lap dances would probably cost $500 and maybe i’d still be married.

  • Anna Hickey (@Anna247):   If Clemson gets to Nov. without a de-commitment, it'll be 5 years since it experienced a permanent, non-academic related de-commitment. Tigers' way of doing business on the trail carries more weight than ever now that its brand is more powerful than ever:
