By the looks of the SS numbers at the various levels of their organization, Hamilton will be scooting into San Antonio for Missions ball within 3-4 years.

And Hamilton was great on the field, and speedy, but not really a huge plus offensively.

He did improve yes, but I would submit to merely adequate.  Really hard to figure out what's what and who's who comparing 18 to 19.

@TwiceHorn  Your take on Hamilton offensively is just wrong.  He was a quality offensive shortstop for Texas in 2018....

AS A SOPHOMORE (2018)

Named to the All-Big 12 second team as an infielder and the Austin Regional All-Tournament Team…finished second on the team with a .291 batting average…had a .404 OBP and a .445 SLG on the year to go along with 31 stolen bases, the most since Tim Moss stole 40 in 2002…led the team with 11 bunt singles and six triples…fielded at a .964 clip this year and helped turn a nation-leading 73 double plays…walked 43 times to just 40 strikeouts on the year…went 5-for-16 with three stolen bases and four runs scored during the Austin Regional…on June 1 vs. Texas Southern, stole home…rode a 13-game hitting streak from May 1 through June 3

Pierce has shown he can develop but it is a problem when guys have to be thrown into the fire too early. The team did not have a ton of depth and when guys got hurt, all he had was mainly true freshman. Luckily pierce has got some juco guys to fill the holes; allowing him to redshirt the younger players and develop them more properly.

Coaches in the HoF have won multiple titles and/or multiple appearances.

Good point.   Won the title in '49, '50 with multiple appearances.    Statesman needs to nominate him.

I don't really want to continue the debate, he was effective, I don't mean to slander him and he will be missed.  But to call him high quality offensively at .291, just shows how far Texas Baseball has fallen.

Texas' leadoff hitter should be well into the ,300s (as should the top four, as a rule) and/or have an OBP over .450, imho.  Once he got on base, he was a terror, of course.  And a fantastic defensive shortstop.

The CWS Home Run Derby is scheduled to be replayed tonight at 7PM, ESPNU.

Huston Street's interview as an indcutee to the CWS HoF occurs at about the 1 hour mark into the broadcast (if not edited out).    He gives a great interview,  flashes the 'Horns Up as he is introduced,  talks about the impact of playing college baseball at Texas, and the CWS.    Great interview and worth a view.

Shit.  How many CB HOF are there?

Those two,  afaik.

The "Omaha College Baseball Hall of Fame" is really the "Omaha College World Series Hall of Fame" but uses Omaha in the title due to copyright restrictions (MLB owns and licenses the copyright to "College World Series" to the NCAA). It was started 2013 by the same Chicago-based company that created and promotes the College Home Run Derby as a way to bring attention to the then three year-old event.

The "National College Baseball Hall of Fame" (NCHoF) is run by the Lubbock-based College Baseball Foundation. The non-profit organization was established in 2004 and inducted their inaugural HoF class in 2006. The NCHoF Museum was planned to open on land to be donated by the City of Lubbock, but fell through due to missing a ground-breaking deadline. It also bestows annual awards to players and coaches: Skip Bertman National Coach of the Year, National Pitcher of the Year Award, John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award, and the Brooks Wallace (Shortstop of the Year) Award.

Machinator answered above.

Stats/Rosters for the Summer Leagues are not easily available and sometimes inaccurate (rosters).    To their credit, this is the first year the AAS has attempted to update, iirc.

The first link is for Cape Cod stats if anyone wants to search.    The second link indicates Ellis and C. Williams were released from Cotuit (scroll down).    It is my understanding that a player can be released because he has commitments at home or due to roster reduction by the team.   With due respect to the players,  I was a bit surprised they went to the Cape due to their resume.    Pierce must have contacts.   As an example,   Merryman,  the juco transfer, is now listed on the roster for Chatham (Cape Cod).

Lastly,  though the Summer League stats are lacking they are receiving excellent coaching.   Tom Holliday is the head coach at Chatham and Dennis Cook is the pitching coach.   Don't have time to search the other teams.     In addition,  the Cape is the top echelon of college baseball players.

https://247sports.com/college/texas/Article/Texas-Longhorns-Baseball-Junior-college-infield-signings-Camryn-Williams-Murphy-Stehly-David-Pierce-133408586/

Texas turns to JUCO market to help rebuild infield for 2020

ByJEFF HOWE 17 hours ago

With three spots expected to be up for grabs ahead of Texas opening the 2020 season, David Pierce’s program has added some junior college bodies who might be capable of filling the void. The signing of San Jacinto (Texas) College middle infielder Camryn Williams was announced two weeks ago on June 19, but the Longhorns officially welcomed Williams and Orange Coast (Calif.) College shortstop Murphy Stehly to the program this week along with Midland College pitcher Dawson Merryman.

What’s known about the Texas infield in what will be the fourth season of the Pierce era on the Forty Acres is the one regular returning and the five departures following a 27-27 campaign preceding an offseason in which Pierce promised there would be changes. Lance Ford (.255/.354/.326, two home runs, 19 RBI, seven errors in 48 total games) started 40 games at second base, but primary starting first baseman Tate Shaw and shortstop Masen Hibbeler graduated and third baseman Ryan Reynolds signed a professional contract with the Chicago Cubs after being taken in the 14th round of last month’s MLB draft.  Pierce and Co. were hoping to have David Hamilton back after the All-Big 12 shortstop missed the 2019 season due to a winter scooter accident that led to an Achilles tendon injury. However, the Milwaukee Brewers took Hamilton in the eighth round of the draft and signed him for a reported $400,000 bonus, approximately $230,000 over the slot value of where he was drafted (No. 253 overall).

With Bryce Reagan (19 starts as a true freshman, primarily at shortstop) transferring to Arizona, the Longhorns have to completely retool their infield. Williams and Stehly could factor in prominently to the infield mix beginning in fall practice as they’re expected to battle a host of newcomers for playing time.  Both players led their respective junior college programs at the plate in 2019 with Williams (Odessa, Fla. native and a Dallas Baptist transfer) had a line of .341/.472/.588 for San Jac to go along with team-high marks in doubles (13), home runs (eight), RBI (37) while finishing second on the squad in walks (39) and stolen bases (12). Stehly posted similar numbers for an Orange Coast squad that won a state championship in California with a .374/.405/.523 line with 41 RBI, two home runs and 11 stolen bases.

Although Williams posted better power numbers than Stehly, Stehly was a more efficient baserunner (successful on 11 of 12 stolen base attempts; Williams was caught stealing eight times) and he struck out only 13 times in 155 at-bats (Williams struck out 48 times in 182 at-bats).  Williams, Stehly, and Ford will be trying to solidify the starting spots at second base, third base, and shortstop along with a pair of talented true freshmen in Argyle’s Brenden Dixon and Trey Faltine of Fort Bend. Dixon was recently named an ABCA/Rawlings All-America Team selection as a designated hitter while Faltine was a 39th-round pick by the Boston Red Sox as a pitcher who chose to come to Texas rather than sign ($125,000 is the maximum bonus value for a player selected after the 10th round without a club having it count against their bonus pool allotment for the first 10 rounds).  Pierce has described Dixon and Faltine as both as “just a ballplayer” who have the “it factor” about them on the diamond.

ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove winner Silas Ardoin (Lake Charles, La./Sam Houston) is one of three catcher signees by the Longhorns in the 2019 class, which along with the return of Caston Peter in a role as a backup catcher and the expected return of DJ Petrinsky from shoulder surgery should beef up a position that was woefully short on depth in the spring. Petrinsky could also be a factor at first base where the returning Zach Zubia could get more work if his glove improves.

I'm not as discouraged with Ford, he is getting better. Wood bats, True FR, quality pitching and he's getting some great experience. I think we know who he is as a player, consistency at the plate is what we need from him to keep his job.

Pierce is hoping that some of these new dudes turn out to be scrappy dogs, the locker room last year had a bunch of nice guys.

4 in 8 IP with 1 HBP.

Dang,  I thought Kamron's WPs could have been affected by McCann but apparently not.

imo,  with professional level one on one instruction,  Kamron could be a great one.    Needs to learn to pitch instead of only throw hard -  seems to try too much for the K.    Was encouraged at the end of the year when he used off speed more,  but must have regressed at the Cape.

Also,  needs to focus only on pitching.

Do coaches in the minors really know something nobody at UT or the Cape don't? We certainly pay more than minor league money for coaches.

In any case it sounds like Kamron is not getting over his issues with control and is unlikely to next season. Too bad.
