impeachment inquiry hearings thread

Damn right!  His testimony was a joke, he never addressed the impeachable charges but rather gave his personal opinion that impeachment is not a good idea.

Really? At the doctors office with my kids so I can’t watch. Is that the gist of his testimony? “Who cares if he committed all these crimes, so I won’t even deny them, I just think impeachment is a bad idea”

That’s the best expert testimony they could find?

Who is making the argument for a fast impeachment?

attempted Jedi mind trick?  R's want this to be over fast so try to paint D's as being scared and wanting to rush this.  It's sublime.  And the approach will similarly end up on the R's growing trash heap of failed feints.

Lol. Narrowest impeachment in history. Right.

Clinton was impeached for lying about a blowjob.

Trump is being impeached for multiple crimes even though there are 100 other crimes that could apply. Turley is also completely fucking dishonest. He knows that the impeachment is not the trial.

seriously, calling this narrow is a joke, and gives away the game the Rs are playing. it was obvious that this whole line of questioning has been rehearsed, and collins was reading straight from notes prepared with turley.

BOTH SIDES, drink!

Just last night, Schiff pointed out that there are 6 different House committees conducting investigations for impeachment.  House Intel was just the first to submit a report to House Judiciary.  There's more in the chute, which doesn't even include waiting on SCOTUS to rule on several huge subpoena cases.

R's are blowing so much fucking smoke with blatant misdirections and falsehoods.

Republicans want to run out the clock so they can shift to...”let the voters decide in the election around the corner.”

Democrats are dragging their feet for pretty much the same reason.

The longer they drag this out, the less responsibility anyone has to take.  This is the way.

What is up with the R's using physical presentation boards instead of digital media?

This is actually smart on their part. You usually have to give people visuals to persuade them but often technology comes off as too slick.

It helps when you’re not corrupt assholes though like the republicans.

But the material was made digitally, no one looks at their bar graph map of the US and thinks they did it the old fashioned way.  How is presenting that on a board versus on all of the displays around the room somehow more authentic?

Well for one thing it stays there until someone moves it. You don’t just shut it off yourself. Then when that happens they can blame the dems for taking away their masterpiece, even if that’s a total lie.

Also their target audience is old as shit.

Not saying it’s the critical point of the whole thing just trying to answer your question as to why they might do it that way.

people get so fixated on the phrase "high crimes and misdemeanors", as if there needed to be a specific common crime, in the framers' minds, like one you would find in a criminal trial.

the criminal code was not yet written, so obviously that was not the intention of the framers.

the issue here is that trump has committed all types of crimes.  he could check pretty much every conceivable box.  so it's a little distracting.

The president doesn't use computers.  Think about that.  The President of the United States in 2019 DOESN'T USE A COMPUTER.  Fuck me, THAT should be impeachable.

Oh, he does.  It's called an iPhone (or Android device).  Now, granted, he is using it for Twitter messaging only, but it is a computer of sorts.

He probably doesn't even have that shit locked down with his face or fingerprint or whatever.  When Gramps needs to tweet, he needs as few steps as possible.

I remain flabbergasted that a professor at an elite law school is saying this procedure is invalid because it has gone too fast and the reports aren't long enough.

Let's take the former:  impeachment proceedings must take a long time.  This flies in the face of logic.  It basically asserts that POTUS could not be impeached for heinous crimes committed in, say his 3rd year of office.  There's just not enough time.

Let's take the latter:  impeachment proceedings must generate a massive amount of documentation.  Now, I am friends with many lawyers, and lord knows they love their word counts, but come on.  A video of Donald Trump murdering someone on 5th Avenue in NYC would be sufficient for impeachment.  To suggest otherwise is lunacy.

Justice is not measured with a stopwatch, a calendar, or a scale.  Ironically, the Republicans currently have their thumb on the scales of Justice, and yet they're crying "foul".

He said Bill Barr was his friend. You can pretty much wrap up his entire testimony with that one sentence.

These R's are so full of shit that every witness should just fucking embarrass them with direct assaults on their derelict stunts.  If anything it highlights how spineless they are in covering up Trump's abuse and criminality.

Need more of this:

Turley is going to make so much money on the conservo speaking circuit and working for their think tanks. He's the Jimbo Fisher of impeachment law specialists.

I'd like to know who he has been talking to lately, because I would not be surprised if there's not a quid pro quo in his immediate past.

The GOPs claiming that impeachment is invalid without at least some cross party voting is rich. It's like saying a RICO case can't go forward unless some of the accused are on the jury.

I hate these traitorous villains.

Sweet mother of god, never ever listen to callers into C-span....an absolute shit show of stereotypes who are pro-Trump. Why bother to call in just to say in a stupid Alabama accent, "no one can ever point out where Trump lies"  or "Schiff made all this up" etc etc. Fucking hell....very bad for my blood pressure.

Whooo boy, that call from Alabama was something.

Asked about what he thought about the Consitutional Scholars and the law of the land, he replied "That's a bunch of malarkame (sic), Trump has done more for this country than anyone else and the Dems just don't like that he don't take no crap from other countries"

This is what we're dealing with here...and I have a new level of respect for Bama Chick for being able to live in that state without crying
